I was familiar with MtH from around 2000, but I couldn't get into them. They reminded me of the Boredoms mixed with Mr. Bungle, but the Boredoms were more awesome noise, and MtH was too metal, which to me is as alternative as Britney Spears. I can still enjoy MtH though.
Everything you said about the fakeness about Japanese music is exactly why ATARASHII GAKKO was featured on this song. ATARASHII GAKKO are 100% true and honest with themselves not taking anything to serious just like MTH. They represent a shift from the stereotypical way all Japanese people should act and present themselves and break the mold by being incredibly authentic. They didnt get pushed by some giant corporation to be the new big thing, instead taking there own path and pursuing there goals as a group. They were able to rise above with there own handwork and determination and that lead them to feature on the one of the biggest Japanese bands ever MTH!!
