This is a collaboration between Maximum the Hormone and Atarashii Gakko. MTH are a well established metal band and AG! are a comparatively newer singing and dancing group. Their musical styles are different, but they share a desire to shake up Japanese conventions and perform exciting music. I'll leave it to MTH fans to go into more detail about them. Atarashii Gakko are the four women in the school/sailor uniforms and their name means "New School". AG! formed back in 2015 and are managed by Asobisystem and 88Rising. The members are Mizyu, Suzuka, Kanon and Rin. Mizyu is three years older than the others and so was sometimes called the leader by journalists, and the others still look to her in some circumstances, but Suzuka's extrovert personality and strong voice make her the obvious front woman - she's the tallest and has the first solo in the video. Still, AG! are always quick to say that they have no leader. They are all trained dancers and do all of the choreography themselves and work with various producers on the songs often providing the subjects and lyrics. Their stage shows are performed with a unique joy and flair. They just released a new album called "AG! Calling" and finished their first World Tour. AG!'s music is all over the place, but their style is always entertaining and fun and for an intro to them have a look for "Atarashi Gakko, Otona Blue, The First Take". Make sure you turn on the English subtitles. If you want more beautiful Japanese singing check out "BABYMETAL | Akatsuki (Unfinished ver.) | LIVE at Legend 1997 (4K)". Then check out the finished metal version "BABYMETAL - AKATSUKI「紅月アカツキ」BLACK NIGHT HD1080p"
That woman’s softer singing voice took me back to my days of playing Japanese RPGs on the PS2. She’s the beauty and the rest of the song is the beast! 💪
Actually Maximum the Hormone boosted their popularity because of the anime Death note back in early 2000s, pretty sure you heard of them somewhere at that time. By the way can you react to Paleneo - Moment.✌ Edit: That's a Shamisen she's playing like Beni in Waggaki band.
Maximum The Hormone are living metal legends in Japan and a very big influence for other bands and musicians. Without MTH there would have been no Hanabie. This version by Shimi is an absolutely brilliant song, we didn't think Maximum The Hormone and Atarashii Gakko would go so well together. And the music video is one of the best we've seen so far. We especially like Kanon's (the super cute one who sang with piano accompaniment) singing part. Another brilliant song is Yoshu Fukushu, a song about bullying at school. And the song A.L.I.E.N. is pure craziness, the video of which you have to watch until the last second. Another very good collaboration song is Knosis (with former Crystal Lake singer Ryo Kinoshita) with the song Fuhai feat. Yukina from Hanabie. By the way, a really good and honest reaction. We could really see your enthusiasm, so all the pausing doesn't matter.
You have helped me alot in telling me the background information on these Bands that I have never heard about. So I appreciate your input whenever I see it! And when I get the time I'm definitely checking out your recommendations!
So, Maximum the Hormone are well known for chaotic music that somehow fits and flows right. They include some of the hardest metal and thrash in their songs that you can find, and then toss in rap, and pop segments to break it up a bit. And it works somehow. The drummer alone, Nao, has inspired so many other Japanese bands that it's not funny, from Band-Maid to Hanabie. And everything between. The comments about how you can hear it as anime music is for a reason, a lot of anime openings and closings were either written to sound like MtH, or were actually written and performed by MtH. The second season of Death Note was MtH, as was the music for Chainsaw Man. There have been others, but I'm blanking right now. MtH are legends.
Yea as soon as I made that Anime comment I was told they did openings for DBZ, death note and chainsaw man. I'm still trying to like the trash metel break up parts but I'm sure if I listen to more I will start to like it.
In terms of opening things, Maximum the Hormone did the 2nd opening theme for Death Note, "What's Up People". Shimi is actually an older song, originally from the same album as that song
@ I also love Japanese trap music hahah and maximum the hormone, Hanabie, baby metal. But bro you like hip hop right? Gotta check out the artist vi seconds. The gawd is a good intro but his newest song “the feeling” is insane. He’s not mainstream he’s independent and started as a rapper about anime and video games but turned into this
You should definitely listen to Yoshu Fukushu! It's a masterpiece!!!! Expect the unexpected!!!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Maximum the hormone is the heavy metal band, maybe one of the most legendary ones in Japan (some sort of final boss). Atarashii gakko are the four girls in uniform, maybe the most interesting and eclectic current group. On a first glance, these two groups are as different as it gets (musically speaking), however, they fit together beautifully (and the commonly accepted reason is that both groups are very similar in its core value of doing what they like and not what the trends dictate). I'm an Atarashii gakko fan and get to know Maximum the hormone through this collaboration, and for some reason I have seen that a lot of metal fans agree in that they love AG! (short for Atarashii gakko). I suggest you check both groups separately, you will see how different they are, Maximum on the realm of heavy music, and AG! on a realm of more melodic generas, but pretty much they do whatever they fucking want. These two groups are the definition of artistry. I suggest you also check AG! collaboration with Sheena Ringo (you will get to know another legendary artist): th-cam.com/video/yoaZc76IcV8/w-d-xo.html
It's a fun time! MTH have been around since about 1997, they have done A LOT of anime tracks. Atarashii Gakko are the 4 young women and are a J-pop group, but an eccentric one. MTH are pretty famous for genre mashing and being allll over the place in any given song. The older women at the end on the platform singing is also the drummer. This is an older track re-released for the collab. Also, Japanese Trap, hmmm I never thought of that combination, and recommendations?

Definitely was not saying ALL japanese music is suited for anime. I was just saying this 1 gives me that vibe. And thanks to my japanese audience letting me know that MTH did several songs for Anime including Dragon Ball Z. Death Note and Chainsaw Man. So i was just saying it could be used for a anime
how am i obsessed? i made 1 comment about it sounding like this song could be USED for a Anime intro.. and that makes me Obsessed? MTH Has made music intros for Death Note, Dragon Ball z and many others, dose that make them obsessed with anime? i don't know what your issues is?

Absolutely! I think I had the Same feeling!
The last woman is Nao. the drums player and founder of MtH.
What the heck! That was so good! 😮

MTH songs always have wildly contrasting sections: it's just what they do.
The "guitar" kind of thing is a shamisen.

Koto is the 8 string that lays flat. The shimasen is the 3 string guitar
Thank you! I couldn't remember the name to save my life.
