Stayed there April of 23 in a two bedroom suite and it was great. We liked the rooms and casino. Had zero issues. We are staying there again next week.
We love Excalibur! We’ve been staying there since it opened. I really wish they left the rooms themed like when it opened. All the restaurants also had a mid evil themed, it was great.
I had some good memories staying at Excalibur in the 90s. The place always had good crowds back then in the 90s and had a blue collar vibe. I went back in 2016 to play in the gaming area and smell from smoking stands out the most. Still somewhat iconic to me as one of first theme design hotels.
Ive stayed at Excalibur every year(sometimes 2-3 times a year) for the last 20+ years and have always been pleased. I’ll stay there every time I go. Love it!!!
I stayed at Excalibur in January 2022 mainly due to the location & have to say it wasn't that bad in terms of how well the staff treated me during my stay. However I have to agree with Jordan that the rooms are quite basic & the TV's are very bad. I also agree with him on the food court with my favorites being Schlotzsky's & Krispy Kreme. The main issue that I have to mention about Excalibur is the overwhelming smell of cigarettes on the casino floor. Overall it is not a bad property in my view but definitely needs updating to make it more modern.
stayed there many times and will be there again next april. rooms have always been clean ,and friendly staff. the critics seem to be people who have never stayed there.
I’m from the UK and stayed their in 97, 2000 and 2003 (basically all 3 times I’ve ever been to Vegas) In 97 it was jaw dropping, and I was blown away by how amazing it was. However I was equally shocked how tired it had got by 2003 and how dated it had become in such a short space of time
It's definitely still tired, but that's due to the price point. MGM Resorts is understandably ok with just keeping the status quo with this, its cheapest property. Thanks for watching!

The previous guest, could be a problem with anyone that wants to review hotel Where did they go? The hotel takes the heat for anything that's damaged or broken Unreasonable complaints about not having a refrigerator, Why travel x amount of miles to get to x amount of restaurants to store food ? Perhaps leftovers, but no reason to complain Will tourists save money for a vacation to save money when they're on vacation ? .. 🫣
Thank you for saying something nice about my wife and my favorite hotel. We stayed at Southpoint, loved it there but it just didn't feel the same. So, we gamble at Southpoint. When we stay at the Excalibur we stay in the Soaking Tub room. It's not that much more than a regular king. It had a great view and a giant assed soaking tub. We love it for the price and proximity to everything else we want to do. The hotel is a lot like me, a little beat up and worn but still a lot of fun to hang around with. 🙂 Thanks again for being honest.
we stayed at the southpoint twice a year for about 12 years; loved the deli and the pool area, rooms were much better than this video. spacious and quiet with great view.
This was our Go To Casino back in the day...as as teen of the 90's...my parents took me to Vegas at least 4 times a year. My mom was a professional Black Jack player. So we were in Vegas all the time in the 90's, this was our favorite hotel.
We stayed there last month and it wasn’t bad. The only thing we didn’t like about the room was the bathroom. I always like having an exhaust fan. Great video and liked the funny 🤣🤣🤣

I stay at the Excalibur when I stay on the strip. I'm cheap and I like how easy it is to get in and out of by car compared to center strip Las Vegas Blvd. Basically I use it as a flop hotel and do all my casino stuff across one pedestrian bridge at the New York New York casino. The have better food options.
I will say this is a pretty solid review of Excalibur. I've stayed at Excalibur a few times and I agree. You don't have the glitz and glamour of other well-known LV resorts, but it is a decent place to stay on a budget and is clean. Casino is huge and lots to do and plenty of quick food options. This (and circus circus) are probably the last of the remnants of the "family friendly" Las Vegas era. I'd have no problem staying here again.
Royal Tower was renovated in 2018 I think. That furniture was hand-me-downs from Mandalay Bay. So the reason for the mini-fridge spot in the dresser was probably mini-bar fridges from Mandalay Bay. We've stayed at Excalibur 3 or 4 times now. I've never had a bad nights sleep in the beds there. I was Gold for a short while due to tier matching that is no longer done, and Excalibur treats Gold a bit nicer. You can check in at the VIP lounge. My wife and I went to the Buffet one morning and the manager came over and thanked us for being Gold and choosing Excalibur. Ok, that was cool. Anyway, Gold was a fun ride with no resort fees for a few trips. And the room being at the end of the hallway. Yeah, we've had that a couple of times. Luxor has now become our "Go To" for cheap stays in Vegas. We come for Vegas Golden Knights games, so being close to T-Mobile Arena is a must. The renovated rooms in the Luxor Pyramid are recent, with nice Bellagio hand-me-down furniture. And we sometimes have full comp'd tower suites at Luxor as well and have enjoyed those a few times. I get no suite offers at all in Excalibur. I completely agree with your findings. A decent, budget friendly hotel, and definitely fun. And again.. never had a bad bed in Excalibur. Oh, and one last thought. My wife and I travel together, so family style dining at Buca di Beppo is too much, but I highly recommend their weekday lunch offerings where you can get single meals for a great price. Good sized portions. That has become a regular thing we do now for food now. Easily accessible from Luxor over the skywalk as well. I believe that's 11am-3pm for the lunch deals Monday-Friday.
I was just there a couple weeks ago. I've stayed there before, but have been staying at Luxor the last few years and I forgot how small and basic the rooms were. Room was clean, and no issues though. The construction for the center bar kind of killed the vibe, but should be cool when it's finished.
This is the best Vegas documentary I’ve seen 👍 that said, I’ve been going to Excalibur since the day it opened and was a completely different atmosphere, vibe, the entrance coming in had an amazing mid-evil theme, all gone now. Built-outs in the casino because table games with a real human dealer are now phased out. Now I’m seeing they let the buffet go to crap makes me sad as Excalibur was actually my favorite buffet. Where has all the talent gone? They can’t find workers to perform at a standard anymore so they close the steakhouse. Where has all our culture gone?
I love staying there, it isn't bad at all. Some people seem to think anything over 20 years old in Vegas is a dump. I'll take Excalibur or Flamingo over anything at that eyesore City Center.
Believe it or not, that was my mom’s favorite hotel when she would visit Vegas. I never stayed there with her but she always raved about how clean it was, and that was in the 90s and before. Me, not so much. I am a huge fan of the Delano. Nice review!
I stayed at the Excalibur maybe 14 years ago. My room overlooked the Luxor. The room was pretty large from what I recall, and it was very clean. It was a great experience, I actually won about $160 on the slot machines. I imagine that since my last visit the Excalibur is getting a bit rundown. Thanks for sharing with us. Safe travels.
I grea up in the 90s when the Vegas hotels were REALLY trying to attract families so many of the Strip hotels had a cool theme inside and out. IIRC they found out that model wasn't as profitable so they went back to catering to adults and since, many of the hotel look so generic and boring!
I miss the Las Vegas of my trips from like 2001-2009. Boardwalk, Stardust, Imperial Palace, the old Sahara. Now it is just trying to go back to who can out-ritz each other. All it did was drive average joes like myself and friends away. I was last there in 2021 and left after 12 hours to go to Laughlin since I had never been there.
I stayed here twice, I enjoyed it, it was cheap. I'm staying at the Conrad this year. So can't wait to see the difference. When I stayed at the Excalibur they were nice service and I got clean room both times, yes they are bare but that's to be expected at that price point.
I have no idea if it has improved over the last decade or so. I remember staying here in the 1990s. My lazy dad didn't bother making reservations at Circus Circus so we were turned away because - HORRORS! - no vacancy! We went to another, Flamingo Hilton (at the time Hilton owned it). Turned away again. Then it hit me: I suddenly remembered at the time, Excalibur was THE largest hotel in North America and the Strip looked so different that the spires of the castle stood out at night. I pointed it out to my dad and we rushed over there. They had plenty of rooms available. The decor was hilarious but as a kid, I enjoyed looking at the scenes of knights and kings fighting in the background. I remember the confusion of having two resident towers. I once went up the wrong side and had to spend a whopping 10 minutes getting to the other side as our room was close to the top floor. One night, I went back to the hotel while my parents checked out another casino. Whoops, locked out of my room. The key card kept getting rejected. It took a long time to get a hold of a manager but I managed to get back into the room after 30 minutes. By then, my parents had gotten back and were surprised to see the janitor helping me get into the room. The management apologized and comped me $25 to spend in the arcade. To me, $25 was a lot of money. I played the skee ball machines and actually won enough tickets to get a coffee mug and a squeeze bottle. I still have the bottle but it's buried in the attic somewhere. I do remember they also had a guy dressed as a court jester. He would guess things while the guest tried to fool him but he was amazingly accurate. One guy had him guess his weight. The guest stepped on the scale and he was right on the money! Amazing.
We stayed at Excalibur in February. I would recommend staying there if you’re catching an event at T-Mobile Arena. It’s like a 10 minute walk and significantly less than Park MGM!
I booked two rooms in the Royal Tower at Excalibur a couple of years ago. They were just remodeled, and they were beautiful! Spacious room with a HUGE bathroom. Quiet and, oh, so comfortable bed. If you don't get a suite, this is the closest thing. But you've GOT to book it in the Royal Tower!
LOL, if people want to complain about the room design/decor, it has been IMPROVED. I stayed here in the mid 90s and it had hilariously tacky wallpaper with scenes from Camelot/King Arthur. It was hilarious. I like how Excalibur keeps the decor business-like: they give you the basics but won't overwhelm you with the insane eyesore designs some casinos have. Don't forget: there is a massive underground arcade for the kids as well as shows like jousting and horses. Your daughters will love that.
PS: Am surprised by their prices. The buffet is quite affordable compared to rivals. I've heard one hotel price theirs at a heart-wrenching $50 and some have gone as high as $80!! Ugh, I am not paying $80 for a buffet. Hell naw.
Always loved playing craps there. It always had the lowest table minimums in the 90s. It seem to be a lot darker than your video. I’ll have to try it again. One day dated is fine. Clean is important. Thanks for the video.
Stayed at Luxor last week, but spent a majority of my time at the Excalibur casino and food court. The casino floor seems brighter and the music is better than a lot of others on the south strip.
I've heard from locals that Luxor is haunted. Do you think this is true? I ask because it was said that someone leaped from the top floor and was killed.
Great report. I last stayed there in 2004 and my room was aged and dirty. It was my only time I ever stayed there. I had one woman friend who wanted to go to Buca di Beppo. We have one in Pasadena, and it is far from my favorite. I tried to talk her out of it, but I couldn't. I realize they are only a tenant of the Excalibur and Excalibur is not responsible for their food quality. I never had the courage to try the buffet or steak house. Beer and wine at the upstairs gift shop was still over priced and you could go across the street to the gas station and buy it for much cheaper. The only other place I ate at, which is now gone was Lynyrd Skynyrd's barbecue. Of course management of Lynyrd Skynyrd was probably paid a fee for the name and the band probably had no investment in the restaurant. The food was mediocre at best. I never had the courage to do Dick's. I think the Excalibur (sometimes called Circus Circus South) is on life support. lf they build a baseball stadium for A's at the Tropicana corner, I can see the Excalibur being imploded, even though the properties are unrelated. I can also see her neighbor, the Luxor being imploded. Report request. It is reported that since MGM Grand has taken over the Cosmo, they are already doing bean counting crap and changing how bars mix and sell drinks. We stayed at this place when I was a kid and it was a new resort. This room may be basic as you put it, but it's better than the original rooms. Back then the heavy castle theme extended to the rooms.
Dude...this comment is sooo spot on. I hate when people complain about Vegss hotel prices. Because there are so many hotels in a very small space (4 miles of Strip and almost 30 hotels), you will find cheap deals.
Nice work! Jordan!… last time I stayed there .. 3-4 years back the gym and men’s spa were not bad .. no joke ..sauna was huge and spa area clean, lounge relaxation area good!👍🏽…
I’m coming to Vegas in December but moved up the flight a day because we got a comped night at Excalibur. My wife and I always liked the castle so we thought we’d give it a go. Royal Tower for sure
Now that is a good hat! It looks like Ville de Vacances Valcartier-Excalibur theme. It's waterslide in summer snowslide in winter near Quebec City and the village where I grew up. It has an ice hotel in winter and a Tiki bar. Clean basic room, but get out and see Vegas!
We took the kids to Vegas in 1990 and stayed in The Excalibur in August just after they opened. It was totally brand new and the kids loved it. One night my wife took the kids doen to play games and I watched a movie on PPV that had just come out - Total Recall with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Everything in the room and hotel still smelled brand new
That's funny, I had the same experience, going there in 1990, but as an 18 year old with my parents. That's why I was shocked because when I came again in 2010, the drop-off from what it had been was so massive. A BO smell in the air mixed with cigs and I've never been back.
I remember staying here in the 90s and they boasted about their $10 steak with soda, mash potatoes and gravy. It was decent and cheap. Too bad that all the hotels in Vegas have gotten mega-greedy and are charging outrageous prices for food.
Omelet station is the highlight of the buffet. Having two of those makes it worth the price. Make sure you tip the cook! Overall a good video, and pretty accurate. The Dirty Castle is a great place if all you are looking for is basic accomodations and plenty of low roller gambling.
I walked through this hotel while waiting for my room at NYNY back in November. The decor is actually pretty nice. I did like the theming. I did notice a musty smell throughout though. It kinda turned me off from wanting to stay there, but I’m glad I at least was able to see it. I’m part of the crowd that prefers a good mix of “budget-friendly” and luxury. I tend to go for the mid-tier properties. Mandalay Bay has been by far my favorite so far. They have a good mix of high end dining and budget options, plus easy access to Luxor and Excalibur.
I stayed there for 11 nights when I went from England from April 23 to early May. I did not expect too much for the price and was not that bothered. I was annoyed that the biggest pool was never open and non residents could use the pool but the rest of the stay was fine.
I'll be staying at the "Dirty Castle" next month when I go to Vegas for the opening of Fountainblue because it was the cheapest room I could find. So timely review for me. By the way, in my experience the rooms at the end of the hall are the quietest and I usually request that. So I think it's worth the extra walk.
As a teen, I needed peace and quiet to sleep soundly. I clearly remember having a room near the end of the hall and it was quiet. I never had trouble getting a good nights sleep at Excalibur. I do remember it was the hotel's anniversary so they had a MASSIVE replica of the hotel made from candy and icing in a display case in the middle of where the new buffet is going to be. When I stayed, I was surprised that it was the largest hotel in North America.
I’ll pay them a visit. I remember a couple months ago I booked Excalibur then changed to Luxor before I went because of their recent bad reviews on google. That room looks better than what I got at Luxor. I’m going next month to check out Durango and fountainblue but I’ll stay at the mirage because I have a comp room there
The dirty castle…. 😂 Never stayed her but when I used to stay at Luxor, Excalibur always looked busy… I keep getting comp offers from MGM for Excalibur, doesn't look too bad and I may need to take them up on the offer.
I stayed here once with a window facing the courtyard. Despite the inch-thick black curtains, the room was bright from the powerful lighting that seeped in around the edges. That's literally the only thing I remember about it.
Whoa, your Excalibur deep dive was like a medieval mystery tour! The room looked surprisingly decent, but those dirty castle whispers linger. What was the worst thing you saw at Excalibur, and did it outweigh the budget perks? Would you ever brave the castle again?
The staff was so nice to me , but I felt like my room smells bad and old . The service is great and I was happy that security was always there to secure the place .they even printed my flight ticket the night before leaving.
We are fully comped all suites in the MGM world. Only spend about 15K per year for 2 or 3 trips plus 500 food and 700 free play and free shows like Bruno or GaGa. For us its almost free vacation. Compared to kids at Disney and Universal. We could get way more at Excalibur but its not our style. Play Black Jack and slots in the morning there. Not a place too stay too many families. I’ve stayed at many of the hotels in Vegas and honestly I enjoyed my time at the Excalibur. It’s much less baller/hipster theme than most of the other resorts and that what I liked most about it.
Greetings ! While I love the outside of Excalibur …the rest of it not so much. Honestly I wouldn’t stay there for free. I’m MGM gold status as well and always have comps at the high end properties Bellagio and Aria which is where I stay . I do agree it has its merits if you are on a budget . And you are correct about MGM having a much better check in process than Caesars which is just plain terrible. Cool review 😎😎😎
The buffets I've eaten at is the same food they feed the employees. I lived in Veas 29 years and have had friends who have worked at various casinos. They told me that the food served at each property buffet is the same food they feed the employees. When you are paying for an "all you can eat" buffet there is bound to be some degree of sacrifice on the quality of the food.
I am staying there in April 24 for 7 night, I not mind this hotel, but I am staying in the stay well rooms which are a bit more done up but they are in the resort tower. Costing me $197 for 7 nights and I get $100 hotel credit and $100 slot play so to me it’s a winner plus I love the location
You actually got the authentic medieval experience the food at the show is probably exactly what knights ate. You know before chefs, seasoning and flavor. 😂😂
I actually stayed at Excalibur for Halloween week my friend booked the hotel.. your absolutely right it was a basic hotel.. only issue I had was that that my friend and I stayed on the 14th floor it had this weird smell from the elevator to the room. It was a musky smell, feels like that use to be a smoking area but they tried to cover up the smoke trail after all those years
they have the "stay well" rooms in the resort tower that's why its more. Instead of fully renovating again they give you shower filter and some an oil diffuser
I stayed there for the first time in April. I was hammered with timeshare people at least 15 times, they just don't give up. Also I came home with my legs itching, I have to assume it was bed bugs. I was not impressed next time Bellagio again.
Looks like the dirty castle wasn't so dirty. At least for the room. The room though small, looked well decorated and had a nice view. I went yo the Tournament of Kings. I felt a little embarrassed as an adult going but I liked it, large cast, of course food not great, but pretty elaborate production for what it is.
To their credit, the bathroom is amazingly clean compared to rivals. I've seen reviews of other casinos and the rooms had sloppily maintained bathrooms with worn out fixtures everywhere.
Excalibur is better than Circus Circus. That's the nicest thing I can say about it. Looks as though it's cleaner than it used to be. Does it still smell like an ashtray?
I'm considering coming to LV by myself for the SB... when I look at hotel prices, Excaliber is the cheapest MGM property, & is comparable to South Point & Sahara. Excaliber is the lowest-rated hotel of the 3, but is also closest to all of the SB action at Allegiant. Any thoughts? I like the fact that they have a nice desk, as I'd probably fly out on Tuesday & would thus work in the room on Monday. From this video, the rooms seemed passable.
I'm an adult and I loved the Tournament of Kings! Although I like corny gaudy things. Was fighting for my life trying to eat that dry chicken though lol
We have stayed there many times in the last ten years and everything has been fine Except one year many years ago. My husband had bought donuts and left them on the dresser under the TV we went to lay down for the night. Ants were in the bed the biting kind 😱😵 and his donut filled with ants. I was dead tired and fell asleep anyway after shooing them away. In the morning I called the front desk a housekeeper came with some spray that really didn't do much of anything. She acted like it was no big deal which angered me. They offered another room but we had unpacked everything and just had her spray it again while we were out . The ants were gone .I wrote a nasty letter after we were home about how the housekeeper didn't seem to care . Telling them I was dead tired and slept in the bed anyway. I was sent a really nice letter with the promise of no resort fee on our next stay. We went back a year later and stayed with no resort fees. Let me day I always bring snacks when we vacation and have never had ants or bugs in any room before. Its been years since this happened and no ants since at Excalibur.
Great review. Have been at this hotel before as a kid. Honestly don't care this hotel isn't a 5 star hotel. I honestly don't get the point to spend thousands for a hotel when you won't be in the room much other than to sleep.
Trying to stay away from mgm properties. We get comped suites bigger than our house at some mgm properties. Especially the lower end ones like Luxor or excalibur and we get flights and rooms to biloxi. But last trip to Excalibur we got in late, I got up early and went for coffee. I walked up to the “center bar” hoping he had coffee at 5am. The bartender absolutely tore into me screaming NO, go away before I even asked anything. He clearly confused me for someone else. But he was just savage like he was in withdrawals from drugs or something. So we aren’t doing any of their properties. Fixing to get dressed and get on the Wonder of the sea today. Royal carribean comps suites and weeklong cruises on their biggest boats for same game play.
TLDW but came here to say I stayed at a basic room at Resort Tower and you can see bits of filth on the ground and I happened to look into the A/C control unit area where it's protected by another exterior, and inside there there was all sorts of trash in it. Disgusting. I had a free stay here (not exactly with fees & parking) but would probably never come back after this experience.
Last time i stayed there was in March and went with the Resort Tower due to the fact there were no Royal rooms with a strip view. That room was disgusting but the view made up for it.
Excalibur isn't as bad as many make it to me, but it just isn't my speed. That said, it's just purely personal preference and, objectively-speaking, Excalibur knows what it is (a three-star resort) and isn't trying to be anything it's not. So it's perfectly acceptable for what it is: a budget-minded themed resort. The main things I don't like about the resort, personally, are 1) the poor feng shui and smokier-than-average casino floor which gives off an uninviting feel for me (again, personal preference, I get others may have different takes/feels), 2) their dining being pretty much 100% fast-food, and 3) utterly dated rooms which, in my experience, have that musky/moldy scent ever lingering in the air which is a turn-off for me personally. But again: it's kind of what-you-see-is-what-you-get for the three star resort it is. You can't get too upset about what I've detailed when we're talking three-star resorts (now anything rated higher than that would be inexcusable for sure)...........and thus that's what I was getting at when I said it "isn't my speed". That said: in relation to other three-star resorts I don't consider it inherently worse than its Strip peers as a whole. I don't think it's as good as Horseshoe, and I also think off-Strip Tuscany, Downtown Grand, Suncoast, Orleans and Silverton to name a few are all better three-star resorts in my opinion...........but on the flipside I don't think Excalibur is any worse than the Flamingo once you get past the rooms, it isn't any worse than Harrah's, and is certainly better than Circus Circus. I personally wouldn't recommend Excalibur to most anyone, but it really isn't anywhere as atrocious as many make it out to be. Mediocre for sure, but also charming for its extravagant cheesy theming.

Unreasonable complaints about not having a refrigerator,
Why travel x amount of miles to get to x amount of restaurants to store food ? Perhaps leftovers, but no reason to complain
Will tourists save money for a vacation to save money when they're on vacation ?

Thank you for saying something nice about my wife and my favorite hotel. We stayed at Southpoint, loved it there but it just didn't feel the same. So, we gamble at Southpoint. When we stay at the Excalibur we stay in the Soaking Tub room. It's not that much more than a regular king. It had a great view and a giant assed soaking tub. We love it for the price and proximity to everything else we want to do. The hotel is a lot like me, a little beat up and worn but still a lot of fun to hang around with. 🙂 Thanks again for being honest.
we stayed at the southpoint twice a year for about 12 years; loved the deli and the pool area, rooms were much better than this video. spacious and quiet with great view.
This was our Go To Casino back in the day...as as teen of the 90's...my parents took me to Vegas at least 4 times a year.
My mom was a professional Black Jack player. So we were in Vegas all the time in the 90's, this was our favorite hotel.

Stayed there in Sept 23' During the cyber attack. They were awesome and the resort tower room was completely decent
I stay at the Excalibur when I stay on the strip. I'm cheap and I like how easy it is to get in and out of by car compared to center strip Las Vegas Blvd. Basically I use it as a flop hotel and do all my casino stuff across one pedestrian bridge at the New York New York casino. The have better food options.
I will say this is a pretty solid review of Excalibur.
I've stayed at Excalibur a few times and I agree. You don't have the glitz and glamour of other well-known LV resorts, but it is a decent place to stay on a budget and is clean. Casino is huge and lots to do and plenty of quick food options. This (and circus circus) are probably the last of the remnants of the "family friendly" Las Vegas era. I'd have no problem staying here again.
Royal Tower was renovated in 2018 I think. That furniture was hand-me-downs from Mandalay Bay. So the reason for the mini-fridge spot in the dresser was probably mini-bar fridges from Mandalay Bay. We've stayed at Excalibur 3 or 4 times now. I've never had a bad nights sleep in the beds there. I was Gold for a short while due to tier matching that is no longer done, and Excalibur treats Gold a bit nicer. You can check in at the VIP lounge. My wife and I went to the Buffet one morning and the manager came over and thanked us for being Gold and choosing Excalibur. Ok, that was cool. Anyway, Gold was a fun ride with no resort fees for a few trips. And the room being at the end of the hallway. Yeah, we've had that a couple of times.
Luxor has now become our "Go To" for cheap stays in Vegas. We come for Vegas Golden Knights games, so being close to T-Mobile Arena is a must. The renovated rooms in the Luxor Pyramid are recent, with nice Bellagio hand-me-down furniture. And we sometimes have full comp'd tower suites at Luxor as well and have enjoyed those a few times. I get no suite offers at all in Excalibur.
I completely agree with your findings. A decent, budget friendly hotel, and definitely fun. And again.. never had a bad bed in Excalibur.
Oh, and one last thought. My wife and I travel together, so family style dining at Buca di Beppo is too much, but I highly recommend their weekday lunch offerings where you can get single meals for a great price. Good sized portions. That has become a regular thing we do now for food now. Easily accessible from Luxor over the skywalk as well. I believe that's 11am-3pm for the lunch deals Monday-Friday.

I was just there a couple weeks ago. I've stayed there before, but have been staying at Luxor the last few years and I forgot how small and basic the rooms were. Room was clean, and no issues though. The construction for the center bar kind of killed the vibe, but should be cool when it's finished.
This is the best Vegas documentary I’ve seen 👍 that said, I’ve been going to Excalibur since the day it opened and was a completely different atmosphere, vibe, the entrance coming in had an amazing mid-evil theme, all gone now. Built-outs in the casino because table games with a real human dealer are now phased out. Now I’m seeing they let the buffet go to crap makes me sad as Excalibur was actually my favorite buffet. Where has all the talent gone? They can’t find workers to perform at a standard anymore so they close the steakhouse. Where has all our culture gone?
I stay there frequently, because MGM gives me the most comp nights there. Simple room

I love staying there, it isn't bad at all. Some people seem to think anything over 20 years old in Vegas is a dump. I'll take Excalibur or Flamingo over anything at that eyesore City Center.
Believe it or not, that was my mom’s favorite hotel when she would visit Vegas. I never stayed there with her but she always raved about how clean it was, and that was in the 90s and before. Me, not so much. I am a huge fan of the Delano. Nice review!

I stayed at the Excalibur maybe 14 years ago. My room overlooked the Luxor. The room was pretty large from what I recall, and it was very clean. It was a great experience, I actually won about $160 on the slot machines. I imagine that since my last visit the Excalibur is getting a bit rundown. Thanks for sharing with us. Safe travels.
I grea up in the 90s when the Vegas hotels were REALLY trying to attract families so many of the Strip hotels had a cool theme inside and out. IIRC they found out that model wasn't as profitable so they went back to catering to adults and since, many of the hotel look so generic and boring!
I miss the Las Vegas of my trips from like 2001-2009. Boardwalk, Stardust, Imperial Palace, the old Sahara. Now it is just trying to go back to who can out-ritz each other. All it did was drive average joes like myself and friends away. I was last there in 2021 and left after 12 hours to go to Laughlin since I had never been there.
I stayed here twice, I enjoyed it, it was cheap. I'm staying at the Conrad this year. So can't wait to see the difference.
When I stayed at the Excalibur they were nice service and I got clean room both times, yes they are bare but that's to be expected at that price point.

I have no idea if it has improved over the last decade or so. I remember staying here in the 1990s. My lazy dad didn't bother making reservations at Circus Circus so we were turned away because - HORRORS! - no vacancy! We went to another, Flamingo Hilton (at the time Hilton owned it). Turned away again. Then it hit me: I suddenly remembered at the time, Excalibur was THE largest hotel in North America and the Strip looked so different that the spires of the castle stood out at night. I pointed it out to my dad and we rushed over there. They had plenty of rooms available. The decor was hilarious but as a kid, I enjoyed looking at the scenes of knights and kings fighting in the background. I remember the confusion of having two resident towers. I once went up the wrong side and had to spend a whopping 10 minutes getting to the other side as our room was close to the top floor. One night, I went back to the hotel while my parents checked out another casino. Whoops, locked out of my room. The key card kept getting rejected. It took a long time to get a hold of a manager but I managed to get back into the room after 30 minutes. By then, my parents had gotten back and were surprised to see the janitor helping me get into the room. The management apologized and comped me $25 to spend in the arcade. To me, $25 was a lot of money. I played the skee ball machines and actually won enough tickets to get a coffee mug and a squeeze bottle. I still have the bottle but it's buried in the attic somewhere. I do remember they also had a guy dressed as a court jester. He would guess things while the guest tried to fool him but he was amazingly accurate. One guy had him guess his weight. The guest stepped on the scale and he was right on the money! Amazing.
We stayed at Excalibur in February. I would recommend staying there if you’re catching an event at T-Mobile Arena. It’s like a 10 minute walk and significantly less than Park MGM!
Hi, I stayed just as covid started.. got back to Australia as they shut the border. Excalibur was fine but will try somewhere else next time.
I booked two rooms in the Royal Tower at Excalibur a couple of years ago. They were just remodeled, and they were beautiful! Spacious room with a HUGE bathroom. Quiet and, oh, so comfortable bed. If you don't get a suite, this is the closest thing. But you've GOT to book it in the Royal Tower!
LOL, if people want to complain about the room design/decor, it has been IMPROVED. I stayed here in the mid 90s and it had hilariously tacky wallpaper with scenes from Camelot/King Arthur. It was hilarious. I like how Excalibur keeps the decor business-like: they give you the basics but won't overwhelm you with the insane eyesore designs some casinos have. Don't forget: there is a massive underground arcade for the kids as well as shows like jousting and horses. Your daughters will love that.
PS: Am surprised by their prices. The buffet is quite affordable compared to rivals. I've heard one hotel price theirs at a heart-wrenching $50 and some have gone as high as $80!! Ugh, I am not paying $80 for a buffet. Hell naw.
Always loved playing craps there. It always had the lowest table minimums in the 90s. It seem to be a lot darker than your video. I’ll have to try it again. One day dated is fine. Clean is important. Thanks for the video.
Stayed at Luxor last week, but spent a majority of my time at the Excalibur casino and food court. The casino floor seems brighter and the music is better than a lot of others on the south strip.
I've heard from locals that Luxor is haunted. Do you think this is true? I ask because it was said that someone leaped from the top floor and was killed.
Great report. I last stayed there in 2004 and my room was aged and dirty. It was my only time I ever stayed there. I had one woman friend who wanted to go to Buca di Beppo. We have one in Pasadena, and it is far from my favorite. I tried to talk her out of it, but I couldn't. I realize they are only a tenant of the Excalibur and Excalibur is not responsible for their food quality. I never had the courage to try the buffet or steak house. Beer and wine at the upstairs gift shop was still over priced and you could go across the street to the gas station and buy it for much cheaper. The only other place I ate at, which is now gone was Lynyrd Skynyrd's barbecue. Of course management of Lynyrd Skynyrd was probably paid a fee for the name and the band probably had no investment in the restaurant. The food was mediocre at best. I never had the courage to do Dick's.
I think the Excalibur (sometimes called Circus Circus South) is on life support. lf they build a baseball stadium for A's at the Tropicana corner, I can see the Excalibur being imploded, even though the properties are unrelated. I can also see her neighbor, the Luxor being imploded.
Report request. It is reported that since MGM Grand has taken over the Cosmo, they are already doing bean counting crap and changing how bars mix and sell drinks.
The Cosmo is such a wonderful property and I really hope MGM doesn't ruin it.

Stayed there this past June, our room was clean and Johnny Rockets had delicious burgers.
We stayed at this place when I was a kid and it was a new resort.
This room may be basic as you put it, but it's better than the original rooms. Back then the heavy castle theme extended to the rooms.

Dude...this comment is sooo spot on. I hate when people complain about Vegss hotel prices. Because there are so many hotels in a very small space (4 miles of Strip and almost 30 hotels), you will find cheap deals.

I’m coming to Vegas in December but moved up the flight a day because we got a comped night at Excalibur. My wife and I always liked the castle so we thought we’d give it a go. Royal Tower for sure
Now that is a good hat! It looks like Ville de Vacances Valcartier-Excalibur theme. It's waterslide in summer snowslide in winter near Quebec City and the village where I grew up. It has an ice hotel in winter and a Tiki bar. Clean basic room, but get out and see Vegas!
We took the kids to Vegas in 1990 and stayed in The Excalibur in August just after they opened. It was totally brand new and the kids loved it. One night my wife took the kids doen to play games and I watched a movie on PPV that had just come out - Total Recall with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Everything in the room and hotel still smelled brand new
That's funny, I had the same experience, going there in 1990, but as an 18 year old with my parents. That's why I was shocked because when I came again in 2010, the drop-off from what it had been was so massive. A BO smell in the air mixed with cigs and I've never been back.
I remember staying here in the 90s and they boasted about their $10 steak with soda, mash potatoes and gravy. It was decent and cheap. Too bad that all the hotels in Vegas have gotten mega-greedy and are charging outrageous prices for food.
Omelet station is the highlight of the buffet. Having two of those makes it worth the price. Make sure you tip the cook!
Overall a good video, and pretty accurate. The Dirty Castle is a great place if all you are looking for is basic accomodations and plenty of low roller gambling.

Been years since stayed at Excalibur...main complaint heat/air conditioner units noisy
I walked through this hotel while waiting for my room at NYNY back in November. The decor is actually pretty nice. I did like the theming. I did notice a musty smell throughout though. It kinda turned me off from wanting to stay there, but I’m glad I at least was able to see it. I’m part of the crowd that prefers a good mix of “budget-friendly” and luxury. I tend to go for the mid-tier properties. Mandalay Bay has been by far my favorite so far. They have a good mix of high end dining and budget options, plus easy access to Luxor and Excalibur.
I stayed there for 11 nights when I went from England from April 23 to early May. I did not expect too much for the price and was not that bothered. I was annoyed that the biggest pool was never open and non residents could use the pool but the rest of the stay was fine.

I'll be staying at the "Dirty Castle" next month when I go to Vegas for the opening of Fountainblue because it was the cheapest room I could find. So timely review for me. By the way, in my experience the rooms at the end of the hall are the quietest and I usually request that. So I think it's worth the extra walk.
As a teen, I needed peace and quiet to sleep soundly. I clearly remember having a room near the end of the hall and it was quiet. I never had trouble getting a good nights sleep at Excalibur. I do remember it was the hotel's anniversary so they had a MASSIVE replica of the hotel made from candy and icing in a display case in the middle of where the new buffet is going to be. When I stayed, I was surprised that it was the largest hotel in North America.
You have to make sure that you are staying in one of the renovated "stay well" rooms and it's fine. The casino floor is excellent at Excalibur!
I’ll pay them a visit. I remember a couple months ago I booked Excalibur then changed to Luxor before I went because of their recent bad reviews on google. That room looks better than what I got at Luxor. I’m going next month to check out Durango and fountainblue but I’ll stay at the mirage because I have a comp room there

I stayed here once with a window facing the courtyard. Despite the inch-thick black curtains, the room was bright from the powerful lighting that seeped in around the edges. That's literally the only thing I remember about it.
Excalibur isn’t bad at all for free you can’t complain I love bellagio aria but nothing beats free and food credit and 50$ play money 👍

I stayed at the Excalibur long time ago but I don't know what part and it was nice.
The staff was so nice to me , but I felt like my room smells bad and old . The service is great and I was happy that security was always there to secure the place .they even printed my flight ticket the night before leaving.

We are fully comped all suites in the MGM world. Only spend about 15K per year for 2 or 3 trips plus 500 food and 700 free play and free shows like Bruno or GaGa. For us its almost free vacation. Compared to kids at Disney and Universal. We could get way more at Excalibur but its not our style. Play Black Jack and slots in the morning there. Not a place too stay too many families. Thanks for showing it. Love your trips and tips with your wife.

When I stayed there, it wasn’t bad at all and the show was nice. We went to the tournament of kings. The jousting was cool.

Greetings ! While I love the outside of Excalibur …the rest of it not so much. Honestly I wouldn’t stay there for free. I’m MGM gold status as well and always have comps at the high end properties Bellagio and Aria which is where I stay . I do agree it has its merits if you are on a budget . And you are correct about MGM having a much better check in process than Caesars which is just plain terrible. Cool review 😎😎😎

The buffets I've eaten at is the same food they feed the employees. I lived in Veas 29 years and have had friends who have worked at various casinos. They told me that the food served at each property buffet is the same food they feed the employees. When you are paying for an "all you can eat" buffet there is bound to be some degree of sacrifice on the quality of the food.

The buffet was just open for breakfast & lunch , last time I was in Vegas (summer 2023 ). And, it looked pretty lousy, sadly
I am staying there in April 24 for 7 night, I not mind this hotel, but I am staying in the stay well rooms which are a bit more done up but they are in the resort tower. Costing me $197 for 7 nights and I get $100 hotel credit and $100 slot play so to me it’s a winner plus I love the location
What an amazing show and a meal serving Corn and Potatoes that were totally undiscovered in the middle ages! How "authentic"!

I actually stayed at Excalibur for Halloween week my friend booked the hotel.. your absolutely right it was a basic hotel.. only issue I had was that that my friend and I stayed on the 14th floor it had this weird smell from the elevator to the room. It was a musky smell, feels like that use to be a smoking area but they tried to cover up the smoke trail after all those years

It just means it's an underground arcade with a dance floor for families to watch live shows.
they have the "stay well" rooms in the resort tower that's why its more. Instead of fully renovating again they give you shower filter and some an oil diffuser
I stayed there for the first time in April. I was hammered with timeshare people at least 15 times, they just don't give up. Also I came home with my legs itching, I have to assume it was bed bugs. I was not impressed next time Bellagio again.
Looks like the dirty castle wasn't so dirty. At least for the room. The room though small, looked well decorated and had a nice view. I went yo the Tournament of Kings. I felt a little embarrassed as an adult going but I liked it, large cast, of course food not great, but pretty elaborate production for what it is.
To their credit, the bathroom is amazingly clean compared to rivals. I've seen reviews of other casinos and the rooms had sloppily maintained bathrooms with worn out fixtures everywhere.

Excalibur is better than Circus Circus. That's the nicest thing I can say about it. Looks as though it's cleaner than it used to be. Does it still smell like an ashtray?
I'm considering coming to LV by myself for the SB... when I look at hotel prices, Excaliber is the cheapest MGM property, & is comparable to South Point & Sahara. Excaliber is the lowest-rated hotel of the 3, but is also closest to all of the SB action at Allegiant. Any thoughts? I like the fact that they have a nice desk, as I'd probably fly out on Tuesday & would thus work in the room on Monday. From this video, the rooms seemed passable.
Another huge pro is the location. Especially if you’re going to see the Golden Knights or Raiders.

When there isn't a refrigerator or coffee pot, that reduces the chance of bugs. There isn't a coffee pot because there's coffee downstairs !

I'm an adult and I loved the Tournament of Kings! Although I like corny gaudy things. Was fighting for my life trying to eat that dry chicken though lol
We have stayed there many times in the last ten years and everything has been fine Except one year many years ago. My husband had bought donuts and left them on the dresser under the TV we went to lay down for the night. Ants were in the bed the biting kind 😱😵 and his donut filled with ants. I was dead tired and fell asleep anyway after shooing them away. In the morning I called the front desk a housekeeper came with some spray that really didn't do much of anything. She acted like it was no big deal which angered me. They offered another room but we had unpacked everything and just had her spray it again while we were out . The ants were gone .I wrote a nasty letter after we were home about how the housekeeper didn't seem to care . Telling them I was dead tired and slept in the bed anyway. I was sent a really nice letter with the promise of no resort fee on our next stay. We went back a year later and stayed with no resort fees. Let me day I always bring snacks when we vacation and have never had ants or bugs in any room before. Its been years since this happened and no ants since at Excalibur.
Great review. Have been at this hotel before as a kid. Honestly don't care this hotel isn't a 5 star hotel. I honestly don't get the point to spend thousands for a hotel when you won't be in the room much other than to sleep.

Trying to stay away from mgm properties. We get comped suites bigger than our house at some mgm properties. Especially the lower end ones like Luxor or excalibur and we get flights and rooms to biloxi. But last trip to Excalibur we got in late, I got up early and went for coffee. I walked up to the “center bar” hoping he had coffee at 5am. The bartender absolutely tore into me screaming NO, go away before I even asked anything. He clearly confused me for someone else. But he was just savage like he was in withdrawals from drugs or something. So we aren’t doing any of their properties. Fixing to get dressed and get on the Wonder of the sea today. Royal carribean comps suites and weeklong cruises on their biggest boats for same game play.
TLDW but came here to say I stayed at a basic room at Resort Tower and you can see bits of filth on the ground and I happened to look into the A/C control unit area where it's protected by another exterior, and inside there there was all sorts of trash in it. Disgusting. I had a free stay here (not exactly with fees & parking) but would probably never come back after this experience.
Last time i stayed there was in March and went with the Resort Tower due to the fact there were no Royal rooms with a strip view. That room was disgusting but the view made up for it.
Surely they plan on refreshing those rooms soon, it's been far too long, even for a budget hotel. Thanks for watching!

Excalibur isn't as bad as many make it to me, but it just isn't my speed. That said, it's just purely personal preference and, objectively-speaking, Excalibur knows what it is (a three-star resort) and isn't trying to be anything it's not. So it's perfectly acceptable for what it is: a budget-minded themed resort.
The main things I don't like about the resort, personally, are 1) the poor feng shui and smokier-than-average casino floor which gives off an uninviting feel for me (again, personal preference, I get others may have different takes/feels), 2) their dining being pretty much 100% fast-food, and 3) utterly dated rooms which, in my experience, have that musky/moldy scent ever lingering in the air which is a turn-off for me personally.
But again: it's kind of what-you-see-is-what-you-get for the three star resort it is. You can't get too upset about what I've detailed when we're talking three-star resorts (now anything rated higher than that would be inexcusable for sure)...........and thus that's what I was getting at when I said it "isn't my speed". That said: in relation to other three-star resorts I don't consider it inherently worse than its Strip peers as a whole. I don't think it's as good as Horseshoe, and I also think off-Strip Tuscany, Downtown Grand, Suncoast, Orleans and Silverton to name a few are all better three-star resorts in my opinion...........but on the flipside I don't think Excalibur is any worse than the Flamingo once you get past the rooms, it isn't any worse than Harrah's, and is certainly better than Circus Circus.
I personally wouldn't recommend Excalibur to most anyone, but it really isn't anywhere as atrocious as many make it out to be. Mediocre for sure, but also charming for its extravagant cheesy theming.
