Thoughts on Excalibur buffet? Would you try it?
Just came back from Vegas and did the Buffet at Excalibur. It was pretty good. Pizza was good. Meat carving station stuff was the best, especially the carved ham and prime rib. The omelet station was amazing, and the birria was so tender and flavorful. The German chocolate cake was delicious, however the edges were dry. I'd go back just to take advantage of the carving station again.
Had it for breakfast back in June because I wanted eggs and bacon. It's not bad but it's far from good.
Looks pretty good but still too pricey, I don't like buffets really so I'd rather get breakfast at a diner or something. :)
Definate No
Yeaaahhhhh NOPE!!!!
Can't go wrong with a MyVEGAS Reward for the Excalibur buffet. Just getting a fresh omelette, fresh crepe, coffee and juice and you're already ahead on the cost of eating at the food court. Best part of a buffet is you try a small amount of everything then go back for what you actually liked. It was basically what I expected for the price.
Especially at that price point. You’ll get more food and choice than at a standard restaurant and basically at the same or less price given its Vegas. I hop will be just as much
The "good price point" is exactly the reason that *buffets are being replaced with food halls* these days.
True
@@mreppen1
FOOD COURTS have great PRICE POINTS ... ZERO, because I don't eat at them and prefer BUFFETS 😋
Is that a Players Club Card to use for Gaming such as Video Poker that is the best game in the casino to play?😊
Re pozole: Hominy isn't water chestnuts. It's dried corn that's been soaked in an alkali solution, like lye or limewater (calcium hydroxide). Ground hominy is the product that grits are made from.
I felt silly after i said it i knew it wasn’t water chestnuts but thats the texture that comes to mind when i have it!
@@TravelRuby If they offer pozole or menudo, they should have little bowls to put it in. The flavor's in the broth.
It was beef birria,not pozole
@@jesusgarnica448Obviously, mislabeled.
The Carver Station dude seemed really cool. I always like it when the staff is having fun with the job.
The instant cutaway from one bite of sushi going “it’s not good” absolutely killed me 😂
I love a buffet that needs salt instead of having it already applied.
$17 for a buffet where you can you can pick and choose a few things that you know are good - is a great value.
$9.99 for a Grand Slam at Denny's if you just want a few things.
ONLY if you have a coupon like she did. Normally it is $29.
it's 28 plus taxes. $17 if you have reward points on your MGM Reward card, as far as I know. And this coupon only good for 7am-2PM and Blackout dates - 0:21
The rainbow carrots is actually what carrots naturally looked like centuries ago. The uniform orange variety is selectively bred over years due to consumer preference for perfect looking vegetables.
Thank you for that interesting comment.
Always appreciate you trying the low end buffets as well as the fancy ones!! Your nails are beautiful Ruby! Love the sparkle this week💖
In my opinion, I think that trying low end options allows you to truly appreciate it when you have fancy foods. Also, you're more likely to experience *"consumer surplus"* (value) at the lower end.
I would never eat the low-end buffets because it may be contaminated with diseases and bacteria!
The words, " I think it's tuna ", should be an indication to skip the sushi, love the nails Ruby
Hominy is processed corn. It's soaked in lye or lime, then rinsed several times to remove the hull.
Hi ruby I look it up migas usually feature short strips of fried tortilla, while chilaquiles use what are essentially tortilla chips. There are other distinctions too. The tortillas in migas are mixed with scrambled eggs; chilaquiles' are drenched in salsa.
Yeah, Migas are tortilla, egg, fresh jalapeno, red peppers and onions. No tomato and no salsa.
The breakfast potatos you described are called O'brien potatos.
The meat labeled "Pozole" might actually be birria, which can be made with either goat meat or, in this case, beef. Migas are different from chilaquiles in that in Migas, soft tortillas are cut into small pieces and mixed in with the scrambled eggs as they are cooked while in chilaquiles the tortillas are cut into triangles, fried into tortilla chips and then sautéed with either a red or green salsa to slightly soften them up. Cheese is then sprinkled on top as the salsa works its way into the chips.
Love your sparkling nails! I think you spoke honestly when you said "Things are going down fast here"
Great appearance to everything on the bar. Probably everything would be good. Tho I'd never pay 29 dollars, 17 is a fair price
For 17.99 not bad just get the omelets and carving meats.
As a Canadian I never understood Biscuits and Gravy because I kept thinking it was beef gravy. Then I finally saw (and had) some, and I understood why they were popular.
We've been to the Excalibur buffet several times and have never been disappointed. Each time we went, the food was fresh and there were plenty of options. Now, the one buffet we'll never go back to is Luxor. Limited choices and bleah tasting food. Now, you have to remember that you won't be getting Wynn quality/choices at the Excalibur price. The best buffet we've been to is the Wynn by far.
Always get a coupon and cheaper buffets always are better cause you don’t expect high satisfaction
Hi Ruby, You probably won't read this. However, thanks for taking the hit for me. You do such a great job of reviewing these LV eateries. I feel like I am across the table with you. I totally get your humor, even subtle humor. Will be in LV through Christmas and beyond at the B and the MB this one will try while at MB, so good timing. Thanks again, and I hope to see you when there!
Love how they casually have mac n cheese out for the breakfast buffet.
To be fair it's a brunch buffet served 7 days a week, breakfast & lunch combined, but no dinner.
Migas are with scrambled eggs, typically no heat.
Chilaquiles are topped with chicken or sunny side eggs, always with chile (salsa) ! 😊
Crepe station was the only part of the buffet I went back to. Three or four trips made to that Crepe station.
I ate there a couple months ago. I thought it was fine. The previous day I paid $21 for a breakfast sandwich, hash browns, and soda at Fat Burger down the hall. The buffet made more sense with more choices. The great thing with a buffet is, if you don't care for an item, get something else. I'll return to the Excalibur Buffet.
yes, much smarter to pay $5-$10 more to eat a buffet and get multiple drinks along with types of food
$21?? Wowzers, that's expensive!!
You get major credit for trying that sushi. How you held it together was amazing!!!!
The Excalibur buffet is so underrated imo. My family and I go almost every trip. A coffee and breakfast sandwich at Starbucks is already going to run you around $20. For just a little more, you could just come here and it's AYCE. The biscuits and gravy, the ribs, and the tortellini are standouts for me.
smart reply
Better to go for lunch, skip the very common breakfast items and be able to eat more food. Price is the same.
I'd rather go to Baccaman buffet at the Caesars!
@MsClaudiaDuran wow, are Starbucks prices raised in Vegas? I can normally get a coffee and breakfast sandwich for about $8 here in california.
@@tv-21 Well, sure, but there is a little bit of a price difference and not everyone is looking for a $100 upscale buffet option.
Girl - you took one for the team on this one and I applaud you!!! Thank you for bringing the content we need to know so we can make the right decisions when rolling into town! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The Excalibur actually has what I believe is the best roast turkey of any Vegas buffet.
A really good lower cost buffet. Especially if you stay at an MGM property and get that $100 resort credit - that's eating for free for 3 days. Not to mention the freshly made Crepes! To quote Ricky Bobby - "Wait, are they the really thin pancakes ... Oh my God I love those!"
We always stay in Excalibur for low room rates. I don't remember we were ever given any $100 resort credits. We have MGM reward card + Platinum. Who gives this $100 away?
If i was with a friend and could get $17 each i would go there for sure. Especially considering i just spent $10 for a local burger spot, and had no choices at all compared to a buffet
My girlfriend and I LOVE the Excalibur Buffet! Its 1000% worth the price.
Always love your videos! Thanks for keepin us up to date!
That was a great review. I watch these and take you recommendations when I plan my trips to Vegas. Appreciate all you do! 🍀
Migas are sauteed tortillas mixed with scrambled eggs without the green or red chile sauce. Chilaquiles don´t have scrambled eggs.
That "pozole" is actually Caldo de Birria which is shredded beef shank in guajillo and ancho chile sauce. Recommended for hangovers.
Ruby could just do a strictly Food Channel on TH-cam and it would be a huge hit. She is so good at talking about food. As a food blogger myself, it's extremely difficult to describe flavors and speak about food so articulately. Plus the knowledge she has about cuisine from other cultures is impressive.
Always great videos!!! My go to for Vegas info.. Keep it up!!
Wow, I've never seen Migas at a buffet or restaurant. It's a traditional Mexican breakfast of tortillas and eggs sautéed in splash of oil and diced onions. I top them with Sour cream, salsa and cheese 😋.
Another excellent food review! Thank you for all the work you do to help us Las Vegas Newbies!
Hi Ruby, the things you do for your channel. Thanks for this video.
I REALLY want to see you do the buffet at the Luxor. Easily the worst buffet I've ever had.
I'm hungry. I wish we had buffets like that in our regular cities. America could be great! Instead of miserable, dirty, difficult, and tricky. I guess hotels in other cities do have nice buffets that I don't go out to. I couldn't afford $29. There's a couple China buffets where I live, but $24 is too much. We don't get to do the things we used to always do for virtual video living is all that's left for most of us.
You’re brave Ruby !😏 always enjoy your videos!!
My husband and I ate here in July and we used one of our my Vegas coupon thanks to you Ruby 👍 however being a vegetarian, we found not much to eat, lots of salad and fruit mostly but still we had fun.
Haven't been to Vegas lately, but the brunch buffet at Main Street Downtown was great. Go around 10:30 am.
Migas.. are usually served with tortilla chips under the eggs with fresh salsa. Very popular in Texas and very good.
I always go to the Excalibur buffet because I think for $17 what the coupon it's not bad. However food qualities Hit or Miss sometimes it's really good sometimes it's pretty terrible and I've gone in all different times and sometimes it's really good and sometimes it's bad.
Thank you Ruby for the honest review of the buffet.
Ruby, you're the best food vlogger. Always real and willing to try anything. You never dismiss anything.
Thanks Ruby for these great reviews! I will be visiting Vegas in August so looking for a great place to stay and some good affordable food.
LMAO @ "It's not good!" Classic. Kudos to you for trying it though. Love you for this!!
Meanwhile, fellow Vegas vlogger Danny the Medic is upstairs in a comped hot tub room, and he's actually contemplating getting into the tub without a hazmat suit. Good times at Excalibur!
I love it ,your explaination method.❤
Thank you for this review! Gonna keep asking for Ruby's Ramen Run, a rundown of the best ramen in Vegas!
Also would LOVE to see you and Mr. Ruby visit the Golden Steer!
Staying here in Jan. Will definitely try this out. Thank you
Thanks Ruby. I appreciate your honesty in your reviews. Personally I would much rather pay more for better quality than get a "deal".
Thanks for the thorough review. We are going to Vegas next month and trying to decide on an affordable buffet to go to.
Here's the crazy thing... you show that breakfast intro starting at the bacon, going onto those scrambled eggs, and then right to the apple sausage.... and my instant reaction is "this is the Excalibur" so i'm completely skeptical thinking it's to good to be true, its got to be trash. Now I imagine if this exact footage was taken at the Holiday Inn, and i just know my immediate reaction would be "damn that looks amazing". With that said, reality is that it looks amazing
I agree with your review. It’s worth it with the reward but not for full price. The buffet did exceed my expectations. Great video
thanks for the review.
I hope the slots paid off well that night.
Yay! A New Ruby video! :- )
Thank you so much for this review! We will be using our BOGO when we visit. Unfortunately, we can't use it on our first full day in Vegas because Christmas is a blackout date.
Cool I didn’t know they started back the buffet 😊
Ruby!!! You’re so brave for doing this buffet! You’re glowing in this vid! You’re almost talking like I do right after I get my lips done- a lil lisp … wonder if you got yours done too ?❤❤
Your background music is always fantastic 😊
Excellent video as usual! I would also like to say you look extra beautiful and glowing in this video.
old style vegas buffet love it!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the input
I ate at this buffet once in 2012. Stayed at Polo Towers and cabbed it over to Excalibur buffet for a first night's dinner after checking in. I remember it being good but very standard.
My favorite way to make breakfast pizza is to butter up some open-face English muffins, brown them in the oven, then sprinkle them with freshly made crispy bacon pieces, fresh cut pico de gallo, room temperature shredded mozzarella, and then back in the oven to melt the cheese.
When I worked there we still had servers bringing the drinks to you. The Sahara was one of the first ones that had self-serve drinks. That was 30 years ago though.
I worked in the gourmet house BTW.
I probably would try once 😊
Ruby, that buffet did not look very good at all …….that sushi looks dubious. Thanks for trying, you are very brave. 😂
My exact feelings.
Fortunately it was tuna sushi, as tuna is the least wormy of common fish. Salmon, on the other hand, is practically crawling with worms.
the shrimp looked frightening. one way ticket to explosive evacuation from both ends.
Thanks Ruby for excalibur buffet review. Do they still have the made to order crepes desert? They were very good
the pancake and waffle probably got shorted on baking powder if they weren't fluffy enough, I would definitely try it out if I was able to get the 2 for 1 MyVegas coupon
Ruby, this buffet is a total paradise. Merry Christmas & a sweet 2024 to boot!!!!!!!
Looking good Ruby!!!
I go there just for the bread pudding. Its absolutely delicious. The carving and omelet stations are completely ok. I never eat buffet sushi, as that's something I only eat when its prepared fresh.
awesome video thank you.
Gone are the Buffets of abundance in Vegas and the Hole in the wall good places to eat for reasonable prices. Crowds are smaller because of the economy.
How do you stay so small!? I’m more of an omelet person over the sweets. Still, I fill up so quick that buffets aren’t a bargain. I love looking though 😊.
Thanks Rubys!
Exactly! I don't understand how these buffet review people stay fit lol. I could never each so much and I'm already overweight. Not worth the money for sure!! I'd go to a regular sit down restaurant for breakfast/lunch/dinner.
So Ruby what other buffets would you eat at for the same price?
@@glenwest6079The only others in the same price range would be the Southpoint Hotel's buffet, but it's 5 miles south of the strip, costs $17.95-29.95. Other is the Palms Buffet, no breakfast, brunch only on weekends, dinner daily, but expect very long lines during weekends, holidays, busy travel seasons, $32.99 weekend brunch, $36.99 dinner Sat-Tue, lobster dinner Wed & Thur $64.99, snow crab & prime rib dinner Fri $42.99.
I think she splits the food with her husband.
@@RedRoseSeptember22She probably works out quite a bit.
Travel Ruby knows about stabilizer in whip cream and what it tastes like, it makes these videos more interesting than average trying different restaurants and buffets for viewer to find new experiences and food ideas
Whipped cream.
I love Excalibur's buffet. My favorites are the barbecue ribs and fried chicken. (Which she didn't try!). Due to the tendency to over-season, they purposefully "under" season due to many people having sodium and dietary restrictions. FYI, ..You can add salt & pepper to your preference.
Another really interesting review. I love your relaxed, informative, and stylish presentation.
I don't know if this is something you have already done, but I would love to see a video which details how you assemble each piece. From selecting a story, deciding what to cover, filming, and editing. With your attention to detail, I'm sure it must be quite the process.
Given that you shoot outside and inside crowded spaces, how often do people come up to you while you're filming.
Nick from Melbourne, Australia.
Wow, that was pretty damn brave of you to try the sushi and fish. Hope you are feeling well after that.....ugh!
I love the buffet there. I had my first taste of milk fed veal there and it was the best i ever had.
I’ll have some of the yella.
I've seen you eat some things in Vegas which I wouldn't dare, such as the hotdog from the corner dive bar outside Horseshoe and this. Much kudos!
You get what you pay for! So I guess that makes it a good buffet if you’re on a budget, the only thing I really didn’t like was the Asian station
You are so brave for trying the sushi!!!! I was screaming no, don't do it!!!!!!
We did this buffet last year on thanks giving it was really good
Thank you for the insight! Buffets are always a hit or miss, some are more hits than misses, others not. Seasonings likevsalt these days seem to be taboo everywhere.
Watching these buffet videos makes me drool.
Ate here last time in Vegas and it's just as good as any other buffet without the huge price tag.
Excalibur buffet is decently good. Solid option for a cheap brunch buffet. Not high end but wholely decent.
Love you Ruby 😂 the way you say Pico is cute
Man that sushi was flat out scary looking. Kudos on the culinary double dog dare...lol
Hubby and I LOVED the Buffet at Excalibur. The BOGO makes it even better! My favorite was the custom omelets and the custom Crepes! Oh so good!!! Ive paid more for breakfast out for the 2 of us in Central MN and not had nearly as much food or amazing variety.
I was hoping it was great. But the way you when about it. Was super. I like your hair
This buffet looks great from what I’ve seen on this video. But I don’t know if you can get it on the western side of the country. But I like scrapple, and you might like it.
One of the few buffets I've eaten at. Was a ok buffet.
