No, he's not just saying the game became formulaic. He is saying that the game formula became a giant no-skill spongefest. Season 1 had a formula centered around the majority of your team actually being able to aim
Your opinion comes from a DPS/typical shooter side. Yes, it's fun playing DPS/tank now. The issue with this is that pro players are accurate and with no CC not really much stop them from shitting on the healers. Something that might inevitably lead to less people playing healers and even longer queues. But buffing healers would directly go back to "nothing dies" logic.
One thing I haven't heard much talk about is the fact they got rid of the loot boxes. The way they have the system set up now is deliberate so they can milk as mich cash from their shop as possible. Before, I could get lucky once in a while and get a cool skin from playing the game. Now, for the same tier of skin, it's 1900 coins. That means you HAVE to but the 2200 package (approx. $30.00CAD) for a SINGLE skin. That is fuckin crazy, if you buy 2 skins you essentially have bought overwatch 2 at full price. If for some reason you go free to play and want to scrounge for a cool skin doing the weekly challenges it would take super long. You get 60 coins MAX a week. That means it would take you 32 WEEKS of completing every weekly challenge to get 1 cool skin. That is fucked.
i recall people wanting to be able to directly buy the skins when they were tied to lootboxes. the thing is, lootboxes in overwatch sucked on launch, but a few years in they were incredibly good and you didn't need to pay to get every skin you wanted. if people ain't paying, blizzard ain't making money for their potential live service game.
@@marshallbeck9101 while trivial in the grand scheme of things, it’s a nice bonus to have and makes the aesthetic scope of the game a little less dull. The big point however is they took a part of the game that everyone had access to away or made it more difficult anyways
the worst thing is the battlepass system. lootboxes were free and easy to get ontop of that any copies gave you one currency type to buy the skin you wanted.
The battle pass itself isn't that bad. The real issue is that buying skins that aren't in the battle pass is ludicrously expensive. They need to drop the price of skins or add more ways to get premium currency outside of weekly quest.
The battle pass is one of the best things imo, fuck systems where you don’t know what you’re paying for. I’d much rather have a shop and battle pass system that lets me buy exactly what I want over literally gambling away my money. As said above me though, with the amount of skins in the game, they should not cost as much as they do.
@@Chernould_ the battle pass is not a problem in theory, though its the usual F2P approach where the free one barely gives you anything but keeps reminding you that there is a paid one as well... but even that would be somewhat bearable (it is a F2P model, after all), if it wasn't practically the only reward system.
The store is non defendable, 20$ for 1 legendary skin it could be a 6 year old skin or a 2 year old skin still 20$. Heck the junkerqueen and kiriko legendary skins are memed on for looking barley different from the base skin I mean they didn’t even change kirikos weapons. There’s also little progression with currency with only 60 per week. None from the battle pass, none from comp, none from playing multiple matches in a row just 60 per week when even the rare recolours are 300 roughly 5 weeks of grinding for a recolour. A fix I propose is we add back lootboxes but no purchase option you can only get them through battle pass level up or 3 in arcade if you get 9 wins like in OW1, this gives people a chance for skins/currency and some type of progression like I played 3 hours and got some new skins to show for it and scatter some currency in the battle pass. Side not the large skins got increased as well price and amount wise 100-150 200-300 so before 100$ would get you 26 skins from 1 team now 120$ gets you 17 skins from 1 team New players are just screwed you won’t get skins without dumping cash into it especially if there’s a cool holiday skin you want old or new. Getting credits is hell and the 7/8 month for a legendary is assuming you do all all challenges including get 20 team kills if your solo or maybe a group of 2-3 might struggle with this. We need some type of store overhaul cause the issues will be brought back up each event
@@samw9906 you don't need progression in a pvp game. Also, it was never progression. There is no progress at all, other than with the battlepass which is free
I played OW from the beginning to the end, and I got up to 3555 career high around season 3 or 4, spent most of the time in plat, but by the end of the game I was in gold. I think that the average skill level of the community got a lot higher as time went on and things got balanced/changed. So I wouldn't be surprised if I ranked as bronze/silver now.
I think so too. Someone summed it up pretty well before: generally, people tend to get better at the game through watching guides and learning. If you improve at the same rate as the others, you'll stay in the same rank. If you improve faster, you'll rank up. If you improve slower, you'll rank down. Makes sense to me. Sums up that rank shaming, imo, is kind of pointless as well since the average gold player of today is probably more skilled than a Master+ player in 2017.
@@123Suffering456 Also pc gaming has only gotten more and more accessible meaning the player pool is higher, with computers that aren't complete potatoes that can at least run at 60fps for relatively cheap.
I started in like low bronze (700) in season 3 or 4 and climbed up to high plat by season 20 something and then simply got bored of the game due to lack of updates and proper balancing.
are you talking about the board you can shoot and send it into warp speed? They just moved it, don't know why, its on the second floor of the spawn room
That widowmaker comment at the end reminded me of the other day where I had 7 games with people playing her like soldier. No sniping just run and gun and complaining that I couldn't heal them when they would go in 1v5.
Hell I love a game where just 1 v 5. Than the whole team taking unnecessary damage. Ignoring cover and ignoring health packs. Then blaming we I can only heal one at a time.
@@thewearyexile9000 Eh it’s 50/50 imo, as another healer. On a focus healer like mercy there is merit to pocketing a squishy (Tracer for example) through damage.
7:50 I agree so fucking much with this sentance. The starcraft 2 community was absolutely abandoned even with a pretty activ playerbase. Now the community is being carried by a single youtuber that is funding custom map creators by doing live streams where viewers get to interact with the game. Most sc2 players know of him and know that he is responsible for keeping the game alive, he's like the unoffical owner. He picked the game up and carried it furhter when Blizzard dropped it on the ground

the best part about the first several seasons of OW, was that there was no "meta" so everyone was trying out new ideas and plans all the time. it was so much more fun than the shield/cc fest that it turned into.
bro this game is a shooter not an rpg, meta is in your head, so the meta doesn't effect 90% of the player base who can't even maximize of execute their character to their max value so it doesn't matter what the meta is most of the characters have a low ttk and die within a few hits, it doesn't come down to meta it comes down to how well you have mastered the mechanics of your character meta matter only if your pro tbh lots of people have gained top 10 in ranked using off meta heroes all the time
there definitely was a definitive meta even in the beginning. and dive was super dominant from s4-9 which is when most people consider the best time for the game. game became stale when the meta became meatball shitshow.
@Lizard Wizard meta wasn't popularized by LoL lmao what the heck kinda braindead zoomer take is this? "Meta" is a concept from game theory, has been in use since like the mid-90s, and even in a modern sense massively predated League. Metagaming is even mentioned in dnd 3.5s player handbook which dates 6+ years before league even came out.
My biggest problem is the shop and currency of overwatch 2. Blizzard made it more predatory. In overwatch one, you could get good skins without much grind. Now it's impossible to get game currency without paying.
Call it Overwatch Reforged and watch the entire playerbase scatter like roaches when you turn the light on XD. The change to 1 tank meta is a breath of fresh air, but he was right, even right now with 1 tank, that tank is a literal raid boss. Zarya and Diva pros like almost never dies.
I played bastion on day 1. As a filthy casual player, i do genuinly prefer ow1, it was ofc far from perfect, but i find myself log on far less after the change than before, and i think these changes hits very different in different elo's. I preferd the more casual pacing of ow1, as i played to decompress, and i cannot do that anymore.
I disagree with asmongold that overwatch have the same story telling as dark souls because if i remember the developer himself said that the interaction in game shouldn't be considered cannon
Getting rid of loot boxes as a whole was a dumb idea as you could get one for free after each level or so. Getting rid of paying for them is a good idea. The problem now is I have a 0% chance of getting any good skins whereas before I had a higher chance. Sucks to be me. I also lost everything from OV1 due to the horrible merging system.
I personally play on an organized team that has been consistently doing scrims several times a week and does tournaments and such in the diamond to master range. We are all very equally skilled and played our placements together and some people got placed masters and others (who played well) got placed literally in silver and are stomping on all the silver players that have to get matched with them now. The rank system is genuinely messed up right now lol, they wanted anit-smurfing measures but started placing 3100-3600 players with silvers or even bronze players who will now be subjected to a 3100-3600 player stomping their games.
Overwatch has disjointed story as darksouls has, but overwatch is trying to put it out there and is adding stuff up as it goes, while darksouls has disjointed story that likes to be obtuse and bizarrely hidden. Difference is that Overwatch is using story as colorful candy flaying it around in pretty plastic. While Darksouls has it as hidden cookie that you have to get from their jar on the top shelf. And yes you could make argument that both Jar and Plastic are preventing you from enjoying the sweets. What will be more memorable? that time you cut through the plastic with overwatch animation scissors. Or that time VaatiVidya pick up the jar from the shelf with with some stepladder that you saw for thousand time but never read its description, giving the item new meaning anytime you play the game again so you go looking for more. Im too deep in the metafor. The thing is, comparing the two because of the similarities is wrong because those similarities came from different things. Darksouls story is disjointed, because its an aspect of the game, and you are suppose to look for secrets. And Overwatch story is disjointed as marketing for the game. "Look at this pretty animation don't you want to play the game of this story"? On one end you are fed with bits and pieces of the story so you go play the game, on the other end you are rewarded with the pieces for playing the game. Its like saying looking for mushrooms in a forest is the same as looking for eggs at Easter. Just because in both cases you are looking for things doesn't mean they are similar enough to compare the two.

I don’t know. I still think there are ways they could have fixed the 6v6 dynamic without changing the format completely. Goats was always an issue, but they took the route of nerfing tanks, instead of buffing damage. For instance, they could’ve done a combo to make bastion viable. Let him keep his tank ult, have it do double damage to barriers. Same damage to health, shield and armor, but now he’s a barrier buster. He has a purpose. It also fits in lore-wise that the onmic soldiers were built for war. I think buffing certain abilities for characters, to do more barrier damage could have easily fixed the issue. Everyone loves buffs. Nobody likes nerfs.
15:50 watching the target that isn't under cc self heal back to 100% is also not fun (One of the many reasons why cc is a thing), the amount of cc and how often you can repeat it are key here, not the cc itself. Bad take because it was half assed appeasing.
4:50 overwatch did have pve story missions that explained more on the games lores and characters. They were limited but really fun. 🗿wish overwatch 2 didn’t delay their pve
even then its a shit take. Soul games have its lore already laid out right when you bought the game, you just need to find it. With overwatch u gotta wait 5 years for them to release a note that said 76 is gay
11:30 if anything it sounds like sports games. Nobody cares that madden 22 is the same as madden 21, 20, 19, etc. At this point It's mostly a camera tweak and current rosters with updated player stats. If the only new thing is pve + 2 simultaneous patch updates and a new pay model for Overwatch then. Why wouldn't it be called Overwatch 2. How different does it need to be to be called a sequel?
kiriko is definitely getting a nerf before s2/when she is allowed in comp OW. Her kit is just too good for it to not be a problem, as well has having surprisingly good DPS (if you get a couple HS on squishes). But what I want to see is an Orisa nerf. Literally playing against a boss character lmfao
I've felt that if both teams have one tank, that tank playing well is more important, a skill gap in your tank area is between 2 players in total, so that can screw you over. Especially since tanks are very strong right now
i still prefer two tanks. i think the issue was the tank design and the amount of cc they had and how power full their ults were. tank for me was the easiest roll to climb because it was basically proper ult usage, knowing how to command space and pressure the opposing tanks. duoing tank made that easier as we could coordinate stratedgy, versus having a random playing and dva whiffing her ult off the side of volskaya or flanking on hog and missing hooks. One tank makes it easier for solo cause you dont need to worry about both tanks playing together effectively.
"if you dont have a way to counter an ability its just not fun to play against" well, mccree stun was a counter to insane mobility and verticality that this game allows. now the only counter to tracer/phara/genji is headshot execution or roadhog hook. how do you counter characters that go invisible for hours? is it fun to play against a sombra that has endless free flanks, lots of damage(and cc(silence/mass silence) lol) and teleportation? whats the counterplay for that? removal of cc was another nail in the coffin, just like removal of hitscan from soldier. i agree getting chain cc-ed sucks, but so does getting humped by flashers/invisible cunts/double jumpers with wall crawl/flyers. the game overall is became unfun since people learned to play genji/sombra
GM coach from OW1. I'm not a fan of the 5v5 change. Most people I've talked to agree. I'm seeing the 5v5 preference comes from the players who haven't been playing for the lifespan of ow1. A lot of people compare the shield spam meta to now. What they fail to bring up is that it was over 2 years ago since that issue was a thing. Something I'm not happy about is the game is designed with 6v6, that includes ALL the original maps that have been grandfathered into ow2. That means there's more or less routes to worry about per map. With less characters moving through the map there becomes less variety per match.
new ranked system feels better, people who care about rank get anxiety if they start the day with 2 losses lol because then u would need 3 wins to just progress 20 sr or whatever thats like a whole day worth of games for 20 sr. would u rather play 5 games and go 3-2 or play without the stress. Changes the way u approach the game imo.
The OW2 defenses are such a joke: "They added 6 new maps" And took away 5. "They changed the PvP" By taking a player out. If people aren't role locked, it's just 2 tanks still. "They added new heroes and updated existing ones" They added 2 heroes after not releasing any for ages and got rid of the same number of abilities they added to existing ones. "It's free to play now." The game has been out for half a decade and is exclusively a PvP game. If they didn't make it free, eventually its player-base does out completely. Not to mention the complete lack of meaningful progression systems now. Leveling is gone, medals are gone for a generic kda board, mvp voting is gone, loot boxes are gone. Instead, we get a system that would literally take hundreds of years of play to get all of a single heroes cosmetic items. If I could uninstall OW2 from the universe in favor of OW, I'd do it in a millisecond.
I believe the "They are calling it Overwatch 2" complaint is completely valid. It is yet another example in a long list of recent examples as to how Blizzard is less concerned about their products and brand and more concerned about the marketing and profit. The decision to call it Overwatch 2 is an intentional attempt to oversell the product to the public and jump back into the lime light. A company insinuates a certain level of effort and differentiation in a product when you call something a numbered sequel. Blizzard knows that this is not the case with OW2 and knows damn well that releasing a "slightly bigger than normal" PATCH and switching to F2P will do nothing to bring consumers back to the table. Its been done over and over again. Switching to F2P on a dying game just gives it enough life support to last another month at best. If the established norms all get torn down in an attempt to muddy the waters and hide the dribble, then consumers have no choice but to get the short end of the stick at all times. People are mad because this is just Blizzard lying to our faces because $$$ and the once great titan of PC gaming continues to dig its own grave whilst spitting in our faces.
I was an Ana main before it was cool, even got her weapon gold back in OW1. I think some of the tanks need a slight nerf, Zarya bubble doesn’t feel like it has much counter other then to I guess hack her with Sombra or just not have brain dead teammates who shoot her shield.
As someone who has played hundreds of hours of Overwatch since launch but barely consumed any online content related to it, I don't understand why people said Overwatch 1 or 2 are dead. Losing one player in our friend group's weekend games is sad though. The game may have been better before OW2. I have the feeling that it is just some minor community online who thought the game was dead before OW2.
I mean the devs didn't really do much on OW1 for quite a while and now the game is literally dead for no real reason other than forcing people to play an unfinished OW2 with a somehow worse business model.
I just don't like the balance changes they've made tbh. Doomfist is useless, Cassidy has a super basic/boring grenade, bastion removed his self healing, and right now isn't even in the game, and orissa and zarya are just bonkers op because they had to be in order to solo tank. It just feels bad playing tbh.
The naming is not a non issue. A sequel carries certain expectations. These are absolutely not met. It is false advertising and that is not dismissable. The way we label products is extremely important. Can't believe Asmon is so time deaf on that note.
when it comes with stacking with friends on ranked and the reason it gets locked out is there is limitations, the issue is there isnt a update on there shown rank when people rise that high for the difference. the system it self numaric wise is actually the same as OW1, where bronze 5(this one is the exception since its technicly 1-1500), and every different division is 500 SR each, each numeber is just what 100th of that division its in. and yes there indeed was a bug with rank placements, i normally played high plat low daimond, but it shoved me to bronze 5, ive outright bin steam rolling games minus the odd one since i think more then 1 person who got grabed by the bug also wound up in my lobby for a actual fight. and every rank update its bin going up multiple divisions because how large my winstreaks have bin
OW2 , they made it 5v5 and buffed tanks. Beyond that I think this is the exact same as OW. Basically nothing was iterated on. The comp system is so stupid. Every 7 wins it readjust your rank. Why make it so weird. Just give me points for winning, dudext points for losing and tell me exactly how many comp points I have so I know where I stand to get to the next bracket... Like normal people do it.
The over meta-zation is really the choice of the players. Its the players fault that they are so obsessed with winning over playing. The devs also end up taking part when they prioritizing designing the game for those players but they're only responding to the community.
yes!!!! thank you! to relate it to league of legends- i was extremely disappointed when they added gold income items for supports and cemented the meta into the actual game. that really narrowed the scope of what you could do, made it so that even successful teams who didn’t play meta had to become meta to keep playing. I didn’t realize until now that is the pinpoint where i started enjoying the game less- less room for experimentation with the formula, less room for play outside the meta (which the meta was before it was meta)
and it used to be like 5% of champions could jungle because it was so brutal, the champ had to have skills/stats optimized perfectly for it. now anyone can jungle with the right setup. seeing the flimsiest mage in the game go jungle when it used to only be like WW/udyr and a few other beefcake lifestealers that could do it… just doesn’t make sense to structure of the game as i understood it from the first few years of MOBA play. yeah fuck that, i don’t think i’m going to play it anymore. also- releasing a champ every other week for like 8 yrs was a total cash grab that made balancing the game basically impossible
I think it's a mix of people's fault and the devs. I do think it's more on the players but there are somethings that no amount of skill or plays making can make up for it and are legitimate concerns.
The second you start ranking players, or put up a Leaderboard, or have money involved in any way, a certain type of player immediately becomes interested in the game and starts to Min-Max everything.
Regarding the OW league teams being tied to physical locations, They were able to actually make esports a viable enterprise for the first two years when MonteCristo was working for them. They basically were able to sell localized advertising to smaller local businesses that wanted to attract their local populations. It also helped these smaller businesses break out into a larger customer base and bolstered their online business presence. This all crashed and burned right before The virus broke out in China in 2019. However, they also dropped in overall viewership and it all started to go haywire, but in an ideal world where the game is actually the most popular esport this method of management would be viable. IDK if its better, but viable. Overwatch bolstered its viewercount with drops anyways, so its not like people were actually watching the OWL to watch OWL.
I find it so weird that you mention Monte working for them, what do you think he did at OWL? He was just a caster, he wasn't even a Blizzard employee. He had no say in anything. He just casted games lol.

1 tank, 2 attacks and 2 healers should be the standard for competitive mode. 2 tanks ruins the fun. I stopped playing competitive when I found Reinhardt and Zarya in the same team with perma shields.
penguinz0 is totally wrong here. Playing Support in OW2 is super difficult because there is ZERO protection, so healers are just like cannon fodder now. Heroes like Genji, Sombra and Tracer are running RAMPANT now that there are no stuns. It's disgusting.
I know Mei and Bastion both had to be put on standby for a bit cause Mei's Icewall ability was bugged to the point where the other members on the team could use it as a proverbial ladder to get to a higher area giving players a DISTINCT advantage over the other team and Bastion was just overpowered to the point where there ere literal game balance is THROWN OFF ENTIRELY. You absolutely learn more about the relationships and lore behind Overwatch by playing certain characters together. People using tunnel vision when they heard Dark Souls, when it's about HOW you learn about lore, not the game itself. Edit 10:42 I imagine their inspiration for calling it Overwatch 2 comes from Left For Dead 2, where the material is reused from the original, but they're adding a story and tying things together. In the case of Overwatch, their 'story' is just their best attempt at world building, and saying, "What if we made PvE events that weren't for a limited time?" Which I would argue the vast majority of Overwatch's (dwindling) community could care less about. We'll see how long the honeymoon phase lasts. I hope I'm wrong, because I loved it.
They need PvE to bring in a broader fan base or folks like me who played for a few years before but would need more new content to justify going back to it
Agreed! Lore is definitely gained by different character interactions in the pre-gaming lobby. And it's not on official patch days that they add these new lines either. Just randomly throughout the years of playing you will randomly encounter new lines that were added at some point.
1:44 Massive L take, the reason why esports has slowed down its expansion is because these teams have zero identity beyond their logos and general region. Players are traded/drop constantly. Tie esports teams to states/countries/famous cities (keyword famous) and you'll see bigger casual viewership
The only people who wanted a new OW game were the fans who wanted a story and character based pve game. The pvp players were mostly content aside from some changes that needed to be made (and could have been, in patches). Now with a “new” pvp game that is unbalanced and monetized to hell, and pve being pushed back for ANOTHER year, nobody is happy.
Moira's beam actually doesn't activate unless your crosshair is over the enemy or your teammate. You have to be good at aiming and have good map awareness to play her well. She takes a lot of skill to master. Once someone masters her she is so annoying to play against.
@@oRitual You are good at what I mentioned then, because I know tons of people who can't play her at all. Those same people have trouble aiming and with map awareness. If you use her shift and end up in the wrong spot you're dead, if you throw the wrong ball everytime, and don't know how to bounce them, or if you can't aim and end up just never draining anyone you struggle big time with her.
Comp def fuked, at the very least progression isn’t clear. Idk how I can have 2/3 the deaths of my team, avg 15-20 rez per game, outheal both teams by a lot and have about 1.3-2.2k boosted as my mercy main and go from silver 2 to bronze 3 after winning 7 losing 6(definetly my worst win 7 lose 21 rank up so far) Current win loss is 44/27 to me I feel that’s not bad? Def doesn’t feel like I should be bronze after doing so well in most aspects of the game except dps which idk very many mercy’s that are doing any dps. I’ll admit My healing output would suffer greatly and only take it out as last resort for a somber or sum
I liked OW 1 much better then OW 2. I feel like OW 2 , is slow and clunky. Toons are no longer unique. Less Maps. Being a healer is kinda boring now. Half the Tank makes no sense playing. Rip toon combos.
I'm still wondering why Blizzard doesn't just straight up license OW porn at this point. Isn't that what SEGA did with Sonic porn? At least this is what I've heard anyway.

I'm pretty certain if they called one of the expansions of WoW "WoW2", still had most of the content from WoW, but deleted all your transmogs and mount collection and told you to grind for it all again while also deleting "WoW1", Asmon would feel a little more betrayed.
Cuz one of the game devs was mcree. He apparently was toxic and fired from the company. The team soon after character’s name to cassidy. Which is dumb.
For me its still stale bc every team is forced into playing 1-2-2 for roles. That makes people create metas faster and the metas will last longer (unless target nerfed) because you're limited in the ways you can counter it since you're forced into specific role numbers. Imo it would be more fun/better for the game if teams were instead forced to bring 1 of each role type, but can't exceed 2 of the same type. So you could run 2 tanks, 2 dps, 1 healer and be super aggressive, or 2 tanks, 1 dps, 2 healer for more defensive. Of course 2-1-2 would seem the strongest right now bc tanks are busted since the game limits 1 per team, but if they weren't then their kits would be changed. This would also let people actually switch up their teams mid game instead of just changing one healer for a different healer. Like running 2-2-1 and be aggressive to capture the point then switch to 1-2-2 to push the payload. Forcing 1-2-2 for everything every single game is boring as shit
I tried, I have cricket. What is ratchet about it, i save money and I've never once not been able to make a phone call. I guess if that's your high ground....enjoy it. I just had to immediately erase OW2 and I don't care really. Nothing to miss.
I dunno how the MMR is in Overwatch, seemed consistent back in 1 when I dabbled in it. I just pray to fucking god it's not like Dead by Daylight. Cause the MMR in it is so broken that it doesn't matter if you're a brand new player, a hardcore player, or a returning player, Killers get bullied like crazy by Discord formed teams.
Despite all the negatives outside of gameplay: OW2 has been an absolute blast for me and my friends. Just keeps getting more and more fun the more I improve too
I agree 👍. Funny how the people who don't play or aren't that good don't like the game, but the people playing it are loving it. Why I don't watch game reviews for anything more than entertainment these days.
I think a flex queue of 2/2/2 and/or 1/2/3 could work over deleting two players from the game; tanks would just need to be toned down a lot which is made abundantly clear now. Also the huge overhaul to Doomfist, Bastion and CC in general is a bad call; just reduce effectiveness of stacking CC. Changing them effectively removes the uniqueness of their characters; now what are they known for exactly?
id like to call overwatch 2 overwatch classic, because while it didnt change alot of things, it did bring back the nostalgia of playing it for the first time, aided by the fact that tons of new players and old players came back to the game. So while the meta is not solidified and people arent hard abusing Zarya yet, its a pretty good game. Now im not sure if it will stay that way though, only time will tell.
Some of you in the comments seem to be either unaware or forgetful of the fact that Blizzare / Cracktivision are running the show. If you didn’t care what they did to Tony Hawk, that’s fine. If you didn’t care what they did to Guitar Hero, that’s fine. If you didn’t care what they did to WoW, that’s fine. If you didn’t care what they did to Call of Duty, that’s fine. But to be surprised that they’d go even further, that is not fine. That is insanity.
Probably the same problem as the first game where unless you grinded stats the game would think you are of lower rank than you actually are. The rank system was based on the average stats of a certain character, which was a beyond retarded system. People who would switch characters constantly to adapt to the battlefield would essentially lose stats in a game where switching was a core mechanic. People would win a shitton of games and get punished for not grinding stats in a game of objectives. You'd place low and you'd climb slowly because the game thought you suck.

They should've kept the free loot boxes but just made it so you can't buy them anymore
i recall people wanting to be able to directly buy the skins when they were tied to lootboxes. the thing is, lootboxes in overwatch sucked on launch, but a few years in they were incredibly good and you didn't need to pay to get every skin you wanted. if people ain't paying, blizzard ain't making money for their potential live service game.
Wtf I was wondering how to get skins or where my rewards are when I play… sigh 🤨

the worst thing is the battlepass system. lootboxes were free and easy to get ontop of that any copies gave you one currency type to buy the skin you wanted.
Side not the large skins got increased as well price and amount wise 100-150 200-300 so before 100$ would get you 26 skins from 1 team now 120$ gets you 17 skins from 1 team
New players are just screwed you won’t get skins without dumping cash into it especially if there’s a cool holiday skin you want old or new. Getting credits is hell and the 7/8 month for a legendary is assuming you do all all challenges including get 20 team kills if your solo or maybe a group of 2-3 might struggle with this. We need some type of store overhaul cause the issues will be brought back up each event

That's crazy I'm the opposite. I started high silver in season 4 and ended high at like 4k peak on tank and maybe 3700 dps
Maining overwatch probably made your skill deteriorate lmao
I think so too. Someone summed it up pretty well before: generally, people tend to get better at the game through watching guides and learning. If you improve at the same rate as the others, you'll stay in the same rank. If you improve faster, you'll rank up. If you improve slower, you'll rank down. Makes sense to me. Sums up that rank shaming, imo, is kind of pointless as well since the average gold player of today is probably more skilled than a Master+ player in 2017.

the best part about the first several seasons of OW, was that there was no "meta" so everyone was trying out new ideas and plans all the time.
it was so much more fun than the shield/cc fest that it turned into.
bro this game is a shooter not an rpg, meta is in your head, so the meta doesn't effect 90% of the player base who can't even maximize of execute their character to their max value
so it doesn't matter what the meta is most of the characters have a low ttk and die within a few hits, it doesn't come down to meta it comes down to how well you have mastered the mechanics of your character
meta matter only if your pro tbh lots of people have gained top 10 in ranked using off meta heroes all the time
there definitely was a definitive meta even in the beginning. and dive was super dominant from s4-9 which is when most people consider the best time for the game. game became stale when the meta became meatball shitshow.
@@yimpyoi9808 people complained dive was meta when dive was meta

15:50 watching the target that isn't under cc self heal back to 100% is also not fun (One of the many reasons why cc is a thing), the amount of cc and how often you can repeat it are key here, not the cc itself.

kiriko is definitely getting a nerf before s2/when she is allowed in comp OW. Her kit is just too good for it to not be a problem, as well has having surprisingly good DPS (if you get a couple HS on squishes). But what I want to see is an Orisa nerf. Literally playing against a boss character lmfao
@@VideoGamesRus100 Orisa is one of the weaker tanks currently, Zarya and dva are the main ones who need nerfs

With less characters moving through the map there becomes less variety per match.
what I'm hearing is: they reverted most of the game to OW 1.0, changed team size and some abilities
still hate the idea of a role queue
5:28 It's called passive storytelling.
new ranked system feels better, people who care about rank get anxiety if they start the day with 2 losses lol because then u would need 3 wins to just progress 20 sr or whatever thats like a whole day worth of games for 20 sr. would u rather play 5 games and go 3-2 or play without the stress. Changes the way u approach the game imo.
The OW2 defenses are such a joke:
"They added 6 new maps" And took away 5.
Just prevent solo players from playing with stacks. Same bs happened to hots when they combined the leagues.
Shoutout to that guy that just wanted Unreal Tournament.

I just realized that Asmon is ginger version of Charlie.

@@garitobee7541 never thought of it that way. this probably motivates a lot of cheating as well
Do you still do live streams? cant seem to find source TH-cam Twitch?
@Conquest wicked thank you
Regarding the OW league teams being tied to physical locations, They were able to actually make esports a viable enterprise for the first two years when MonteCristo was working for them.
@@JonklingJonkler Monte was consulted heavily in OWLs conception and future planning actually. Wasn't just a caster. At least for the year prior to the inaugural season and the inaugural season
They also sold exclusive rights to TH-cam, which was just a horrible decision if they cared about viewcount even if it gave more money short term. Because they sold it as a package deal it also destroyed the Hearthstone pro scene as collateral damage.
why is it hard to balance the heros in ow?
balance moira vor brone and silvers (make her unplayble in high elo)
and balance widdow for ow league (make her unplayable for noob)
that is the only way how to create a healthy game with diffent skill sealings
Ofc Blizzard tells their players they were DDoS, its not like every hyped game got sever problems in the first 1-3 days of release since years
Every respectable company has DDOS protection so that excuse didn't make sense for blizzard, unless it really did happen due to troll hackers lmao
Anna is super strong now, she can do good damage, heal and block enemy heal, CC enemy, super high pick rate around 15% in high level match
She’s always been super strong ?? And everything you said after that she’s always had lmao ?
@@danieln6700 idk man if you knew how to play ana you would literally control the game.
I honestly think she's worse now, with less shields and 0 mobility you are a sitting duck to half the cast of the game unless you're being pocketed by someone. Everyone just flanks so you need to be super careful where you stand and time your sleeps perfectly.
The game for sure is better and has more play and counter play, the characters feel more versatiles (most of them, some of them need a buff/rework fast).
I mean I saw a freaking Mercy go Valkyrie flank on they're team, was Mercy the entire game and ended up with 6k damage and 13k heal.
It feels rewarding to play well outside of waiting for your ult
huff that copium
@@Delsoonbye02 I agree on the part that the game has pretty bad monetizing model. But if you think that OP having fun playing the game is "huffing copium". Get help.

@@Delsoonbye02 nah I'm having mad fun playing, I think I've been playing overwatch 2 way more than I have ever played overwatch 1, but damn this predatory battlepass bullshit it's a big turn off for sure. It's just the monetization for me mainly what's ruining it.
Fuck Mei
My progression has been locked for days, stuck in quick play hell 😭
why dont they just use the rank of the highest rank person in your party for matchmaking?
Lol, i know he played the souls games but the lorebuilding is difficult to compare. The only comparison between Souls games and OW is that there word lore is not explained directly. Still the way you experience or follow the lore in both games are worlds apart.
The best comparison would've been LoL and OW.
The ranking was weird, I got bronze 5 in dps last week and I’m currently diamond 4
The reason some of these content creators opinions matter so much is because nowadays you don’t actually have to be good at the game to get people to watch your content. So most these people share the option of the general population because they’re in the same skill level with a game and if we’re honest as humans if you’re cold blooded at something it’s just more fun period and these dudes are at best gold.
Bold of asmon to react to his better, more charming and maybe smarter brother.
I always considered them alternate versions of each other 😂 nice to know other people see this too
Asmons extremely smart
Maximilian Dood is their oldest brother😊
watching this while playing overwatch 2
It's like the difference between mw2 and mw3. They are similar yes but they are still different games. The only thing is that it's still in EARLY ACCESS and the campaign is still coming. Other than that OW2 is night and day from the first game. Again it's like the difference between two cod games. Visually it's like mw2 and mw3 but the game play difference is like mw2 and advance warfare
I didn't play overwatch 1 but I see alot of people asking for 6v6 back but asking for cc back
Overwatch 1 was always a good team based game it's why it won game of the year when it came out. This is just patch.
Get with a team ho has Bastion on it and it is GAME F***ING OVER for your team. He was WAY too good and NEEDED to be nerfeddue to that. He was like whet the hovercraft in Battlefield 2042 broken sand WAY too overpowered and it hurt ither players MAJORLY.
"I did that with WoW too but it was everyday" lmao, that's a good one right there
through watching this video it made me realize why I like OW2 over Valorant now, the amount of flashes and stuns and smokes in Valorant ruin the game experience for me.
cowboy with sticky grenade... wow thats thematic and creative good job blizzard
So you're telling me the flashbang was somehow more fitting???
@@dooddoingstuff true but they keep pushing it
You absolutely learn more about the relationships and lore behind Overwatch by playing certain characters together.
They need PvE to bring in a broader fan base or folks like me who played for a few years before but would need more new content to justify going back to it
@@chewcab8008 I'm worried I'm already typing too many words for you, so I'll speak in a way you can understand.
TRUE.
Where are you live streaming?
Moira's beam actually doesn't activate unless your crosshair is over the enemy or your teammate. You have to be good at aiming and have good map awareness to play her well. She takes a lot of skill to master. Once someone masters her she is so annoying to play against.
She’s one of the easiest supports to play in my opinion along w Brig/Lucio
They should've called it Overwatch 2022 or something. It's much more accurate and still sounds like a new game.
Call it "Get Overwatch us Deleting Your Paid-For Cosmetics". I'm pretty certain if they called one of the expansions of WoW "WoW2", still had most of the content from WoW, but deleted all your transmogs and mount collection and told you to grind for it all again while also deleting "WoW1", Asmon would feel a little more betrayed.
Why did they change Mcree's name?
Cuz one of the game devs was mcree. He apparently was toxic and fired from the company. The team soon after character’s name to cassidy. Which is dumb.
it’s so hard to listen to feedback about ow unless they are actually good at the game
The Overwatch rank system is one of the worst I’ve ever experienced since the dawn of competitive online play.
Heard theres a new hero called bastion, cant wait to try them out!
@@RNTV it’s crazy how streamers who are shitting on the game correlate to their skill in the game… not even joking.

An epipen is an epic pencil, only owned by the best authors like the wow devs
id like to call overwatch 2 overwatch classic, because while it didnt change alot of things, it did bring back the nostalgia of playing it for the first time, aided by the fact that tons of new players and old players came back to the game. So while the meta is not solidified and people arent hard abusing Zarya yet, its a pretty good game. Now im not sure if it will stay that way though, only time will tell.
People are hard abusing zarya lol along with sombra
Some of you in the comments seem to be either unaware or forgetful of the fact that Blizzare / Cracktivision are running the show.
If you didn’t care what they did to Tony Hawk, that’s fine. If you didn’t care what they did to Guitar Hero, that’s fine. If you didn’t care what they did to WoW, that’s fine. If you didn’t care what they did to Call of Duty, that’s fine.
But to be surprised that they’d go even further, that is not fine.
That is insanity.
They said it was a bug with the rank in a blizzard post.
15:23 I go a step further and say stuns shouldn't be in a first person game at all.
they havent even started working on the co op
"I've seen more porn of overwatch than I've seen actual overwatch content"
Man, I mean, weird flex and probably not something you want to admit to hundreds of people, but props for bravery I guess 🤣
overwatch 2 = overwatch 1 with patch 2.0 release with a milk factory upgrade = why overwatch 1, they intentionally let the drag kick in, they were holding back updates/changes letting the game go intentionally bad to try up the release experience for overwatch 2.
