You know what might make an interesting video for some people? A demonstration on how you add mylar over a dust jacket and any small repairs or cleaning you do before applying. Removing stickers, etc
I read Princess Alice or Alice when it came out. I did enjoy it. She was Prince Philip's mother, so King Charles's Grandma ma and a very devout, exemplary Christian who gave succor and shelter to destitute during WWII. Her life was definitely Not a bed of roses and she lived her latter years at Buckingham Palace in ascetic surroundings
I have been looking forward to this video. I love your enthusiasm so much! It made me smile to hear that "when you shop with Steve, there's a story for every book you pick up" Thanks for sharing & am looking forward to the next box!
Really appreciate your practical comments at the start about how the Brattle delivers books. (Although I live too far away to visit or get deliveries, dang). Didn't know they had a podcast - which at least I can access. Hmm will be interested to hear what you think of "The Assassin's Cloak", I got it on Steve's recommend but didn't warm to it, very bitsy. But defo instructive to read other people's diaries - once they're published. Princess Paley photo looks like she's desperately trying not to laugh - will be interesting to hear if she has an eye for the absurd.
That’s too bad about the distance between you and the shop, Heather! I’m very curious about how I’ll take to “The Assassin’s Cloak” as well… that is a wonderful observation on the portrait, I hadn’t seen that until reading it here, and now I can’t help but agree, I’ll be curious if she does!
Micah, I'm so impressed with your fascination of Russian history. This video reminds me of the promise I made myself to tackle Robert Massie's Peter the Great.
Long English lit. The queen Victoria book looks amazing. I found a 1901 biography of Queen Victoria. No hard cover but still in great condition for its age
I loved this book haul Micah, especially that copy of Byron life and lessons. I downloaded the podcast per your mention. I've never been to the Brattle but I hope to visit it one day. Thanks for sharing this, it was a pleasure to watch what you got and add some books to my TBR.
Thank you, Kelly! I hope that you like the podcast. ☺️ I am sure I’ll be doing a review for the Byron Life and Legend soon! I am really interested in learning more about him.
Love this post, especially because I love all things Romanov! (Actually, I’m addicted to all the royal families of Europe!) I’ve owned the coffee table bookTSAR for several years and love it. I just got QUEEN VICTORIA AND THE ROMANAVS but haven’t read it yet. Looking forward to reading BARKSKINS!
Thanks, Mark! I am certainly a fellow addict in that department. Glad to hear you have loved the Tsar coffee table book. I’m excited to read Queen Victoria and the Romanovs… hope you love Barkskins!
This is an insanely cool book haul. I'm so jealous of the Samuel Pepys' biography. You'll love his diary when you get to it; I got to teach that, and it was so much fun.
@@MicahCummins It's funny. When we studied the diaries in high school, I thought, he gee whiz, why are we reading this? But then six years later, when I got to teach the diaries, I thought, oh, wow -- how did I not recognize how awesome this was!?
Terrific! I've been looking forward to this one. I see a few titles that I also saw on the shelves when I was at the Brattle a couple weeks earlier. I also picked up a number of nautical books, all which had the name Scott Seifert written on the opening end papers. I'm wondering if your copy of "Killigrew and the North-West Passage" might also have been from his library? Looking forward to Part 2!
That Assassin’s Cloak sounds great! And not a book question but how in the world are you wearing a oodie? Not sure where you’re located but isn’t it super hot everywhere in the US right now?

Sorry to butt in, but I think this is an excellent idea!
This! Yes!!
True
Yes!
That is a wonderful idea, Michael! I think I might just have to do that now. ☺️

Some very interesting selections. I have the Pepys biography by Coote and can recommend that as a good intro to his life and his work.
Thank you, James! That is wonderful to hear that about Coote's book. I am looking forward to reading it.
Great haul, Micah, and thanks for sharing!🌷Looking forward to watching part 2😊📚
Thank you! I’m happy you enjoyed it ☺️
I just started reading that very same Byron biography yesterday. I'm enjoying it so far,
That is great to hear! I hope you continue to enjoy it.

Thank you, Franklin! "Peter the Great" is fantastic! I think you will enjoy it immensely!
Great Videos Micah!
Thank you, Mätëö!
Really nice haul! Great find of The Lost World Of Nicholas and Alexandra.
Thank you, Laverne! I was so excited about finding a copy of that.

Oh wow, that’s a fantastic find! Do you happen to know who the author is?

That’s fantastic, Randy! From what I have heard of his diaries, I am sure that must have been fun teaching material!

Excellent selections, Micah. Visiting the Brattle with Steve in tow is a treat.
I look forward to the reviews.
It truly is, Margaret! Thank you!
I did enjoy. Looking forward to Part II.
I’m glad to hear it, David!
Wow Micah those are some great finds! Fabulous!! I can't wait to see part 2! ❤
Thank you!! I was so happy with what I found! Part two will be out soon ☺️
Great selection of books, I hope you enjoy them. I can't wait to revisit the Brattle in November.
Thanks, D! I hope you have a fun and safe visit back to Boston!
Looking forward to part 2.
Thanks, Dqan!
Great haul!
Thanks, James!
Wonderful haul, Micah! Thank you for sharing. I’m visiting the Brattle at the end of the month ❤
Thank you, Natalia! How exciting! I hope you have a wonderful visit. ☺️📚
Wonderful collection! Brattle should start international shipping someday.
Thank you, Tanya! They actually already do ship internationally! ☺️
@@MicahCummins Oh I forgot to add 'affordable'. Can't be selling my kidney for books. Although that might buy me time to read all of them 😄

Ah, how interesting! I will have to check to see if it is from the same collection! I wouldn’t be surprised if it was…
That Assassin’s Cloak sounds great! And not a book question but how in the world are you wearing a oodie? Not sure where you’re located but isn’t it super hot everywhere in the US right now?
Thank you! Well, that was filmed in the days right before the major heatwave hit my area, (south east US.)
Morris is TWO generations of historians ago...there has been a ton of research since his day...
That is very good to know! Thanks, Dennis!
Glad to help another history reader. Morris is very good -- I read him in college and grad school. But that was in the 1960s...@@MicahCummins
