I went with the Apex Sim Racing Streamdeck XL case. The top/bottom are genuine carbon fiber and the buttons aren't recessed like the Simcore but instead fit in to make them closer to the PSP. I don't think I could ever commit to a single set of buttons with stickers. I play too many sims to make it work for everything. Shit, I had a hard time committing to stickers on my GT Neo and I'm already wanting to change it up a bit . Excellent review as always.
This is something I keep moving towards, I feel I need more control on my rig at short notice and with ease of access. Anyone that knows me knows I don't buy anything that I don't need 😂 This thing really does interest me! Nice one LD, great review!
One of the things that seems to get overlooked with the Pro Switch Panel in comments I've seen is the Sim Hub integration with telemetry from sims for flags and visual spotter, so it's nice to see you include this in your review. I have a Pro Switch Panel, and for me, this is the main benefit over a Stream Deck.
@@LaurenceDusoswaThanks for the reply. I have seen a SimHub plugin for flags on the Stream Deck, but I've never seen anyone use it. So I would say it's either very difficult to get working or just not that useful. The integration of the Pro Switch Panel with SimHub is very easy and works really well. It negates the need for a separate flag box.
I remember when Dave Cam did his review video on this. I told him I use a stream deck and didn't see the need to buy one. But you know what it's like being a sim racer Laurence and now I have one mounted on the rig. 😂 I am slowly sorting out the layout and LED profiles and will retain the stream deck also, but I agree the button presses are much better on the PSP.
This led me to building an ACC engineer for my steam deck. Now I can do all my pitstop strategies at a click of a button. Even better, it's a downloadable zip folder that anyone can just upload onto there streamdeck
Not sure if I personally could justify the price over a stream deck. Obviously it is high-end, but realistically it's doing nothing more than my €50 button box I got on FB market place. If I was in the market for another button the stream deck is the only option I would consider.
Yep it’s a tough choice between that and a stream deck. But if I could only use my stream deck while racing, this would be on my rig and not the stream deck
agreed. Tho it it pretty cool and does alot...the stream deck can do more, comes in different sizes according to what you wanna spend, the buttons are tiny screens you can change on fly so you can have a entire different button box just by pushing a button to change to a new game or car setup. It's almost unbeatable as a button box. Plus they are CHEAP! If you own a 3D printer....it's endgame for covers and mounts.
Hey Laurence, can I ask where you managed to source the VESA mount itself from? Looks like it was machined very sharply, and as far as I read, it doesn't look to be included in the package? I'm from across the pond as well, so I was looking at potentially buying the PSP from another retailer and sourcing the RAM and VESA separately (and I've already sourced the RAM since they have graciously pointed out the SKU). Any insight would be appreciated!
As you said. I was curious if it’s even worth getting. And I’m still confused lol. I got streamdeck xl and it works flawlessly. But as you pointed out, that tactile feeling would be amazing to have.
If you are as stupidly lucky as I am, and can somehow afford both, one of the big takeaways that I have from this experience is that they co-exist beautifully.
I like it. Idk why as I am am still setting up the basic stuff and have no need for it yet but I like it anyway. LOL. Now how do I justify getting one? LOL. Thanks for sharing.
I do not need this product….BUT GODDAMMIT I WANT ONE NOW !!! It look really cool , great looking form factor and it look’s awesome mounted as you have it… why oh why did I have to watch this video 😂….I will resist my urge to buy this for months but I know that in the end I’ll get drunk some evening and buy it …. 😮
I received my 2 weeks ago. I am still trying to figure out how I program the buttons on simhub to make it suitable for ams2. It's quite hard for me (non programmer) to set it, even if I take the example profiles on their homepage. Probably it needs some improvements on simhubs user interface for the PSP for setting the buttons.
Only thing I would change is the 90 degree usb cable. It's always under pressure with the ram mount. I ended up ordering a straight cable. The other thing I dont like is you need to know how to code to get more use of it.
@LaurenceDusoswa yeah if you want to take the most advantage of it you need to know how the coding works for macros and stuff PSE sent me the Dropbox file to learn how to but man I'm an old fart lol I don't get any of it. I'm waiting for a full how too on YT to know how to do it for idiots lol
I'm finally upgrading my sim rig ive got a whole Moza so now the R5 bundle the clutch pedal mod brake mod coming the hgp shifter that's incredible i did have three thrustmaster th8a but luckily found it my microcenter had three hgp's in the back instead of the sales floor i looked at the hgp online and low and behold my microcenter had 8 instock i hurried over there and returned the th8a and i don't regret it the th8a feels like a little cold toy in comparison to o the hgp. I just got my CS wheel today the build on it is silly good for $249 the fanatec offering that complete with this cost $100 more the fanatec shifter is also $100 more than Moza's . Moza is killing the game with out a doubt now all i need to do is upgrade my el cheapo cockpit i literally gotta ratchet strap it to my desk to keep it stationary where ffb kicks in but hey it works man
Bargain???😂😂😂 for few buttons ??? Stop joking, i could justify it in only one way if it would not require stickers otherwise stream deck all the way and way cheaper! You can map buttons etc, i see tendency that these "reviewers" are payed very well! Nothing more!
@amigoz3201 don’t make false accusations. I spent around 40 hours dedicated to this product. I received no money, same as all my reviews. I get to keep the product but I never sell products so that I don’t benefit financially from it. I literally say that if I had to choose one of the two, I’d choose te stream deck. I’m not sure if you bothered to watch the whole video yet here you are discrediting 40 hours of my spare unpaid time just because you disagree with some else’s opinion, not even mine. I specifically said it’s an expensive product.
@@amigoz3201 Go and find me another button box with same features and quality then tell me how much that costs. This isnt a 3d printed button box covered in carbon vinyl.
@@LaurenceDusoswadon't let that idiot get to you.. envy is a strange thing.. keep up the good work .... As for me, compared to the cost of a good sim racing setup, this box is almost peanuts aka after thought. And I also see an advantage of keeping racing and streaming functions separate.
Hi, nice review! This Buttonbox is really cool, sadly, very expensive too. I wonder if you could tell me, which keyboard do you use? Shown at 9 minutes in the video.
functionally a numpad is a great investment. Does the trick and nice and affordable. A DIY button box is a good investment too. They come up second hand pretty often.
It's always easy to say something nice and justify things when the price you pay is $0. For people who actually have to pay for these items, not so much.

Stream deck can do similar with the right plugins. But it’s nice to have them on the psp with minimal effort

So you mean that when a flag pops up all the buttons on the switches become RED-Yellow etc so you know that there is a flag?

The little bracket that the RAM attaches to was included for me. Probably a good idea to ask them though before you commit to buying
