  • Since it arrived, the sixth generation iPad mini has become one of my favorite devices to read books on. It makes sense to me for quite a few reasons, and it might make sense to you too. In some ways, I even prefer this iPad mini over the Kindle. In this video, I will go over 5 reasons why the iPad mini 6 is the perfect e-reader!

I agree completely. I use my iPad mini as a wonderful and versatile reader yet it can serve a multitude of practical services for me when I am not reading.Much better dollar value. When I take a trip I download my books and set the low power mode and airplane mode to double battery life.

Problems, imo, are price and the fact that if I have a device that can play games, TH-cam and Netflix I’m less likely to use it for reading

iPad mini is more ideal for an avid (as in addict) reader, who would crave to read a book on whatever device or physical book they can get their hands on. Yes, for more casual readers, a Kindle is more ideal as it compartmentalizes the reading experience more effectively.

I love reading on my iPad Mini! So much so that I ditched my Kindle Paperwhite after I got it. The funny thing is I did not get the mini for reading; I initially got it as a travel iPad to take when my husband and I go on long motorcycle trips. I figured I'd use it for watching videos, posting pics to social media, and light tasks like that, but I actually carry it everywhere and use it for my planner, notetaking, social media, journaling, reading, and so much more.

@@laurabernay I don't have any problems with it. Personally the kindle never really seemed easier on my eyes and I hated the black and white. I also hated having a device that was only good for reading books. My iPad mini does so much more.

Thanks Tracy. I have been an Apple user all my life and I think I would agree with you about the iPad mini. The thought of just black and white too is not very exciting and then the compatibility....I know they say it's easier to sort out but I just know with a new gadget it takes work! I think the iPad mini would be easier. I am looking around now for anti blue light screens to add to it as my eyes get really tired on screens!. Thanks for the comment. :)@@traceysmith311

There is your problem. You didnt look past kindle. E-ink display is what make a “reader” great and purpose built. If you really wanted a reader with E-ink display, you should check out reMarkable 2, Onyx Boox nova air 2(just released), Onyx Book tab ultra(just released too). Boox makes great E-ink tablets which are great readers as well as note taking. If you just care about reading then check out boox leaf2 which they released today as well.

In addition to these other comments, putting a Paperlike screen protector on it was the final piece for me. Adjusting the color warmth and trying grayscale with that paperlike on it makes it very, very close in feel to an ereader, at least on my eyes. It is very comfortable to read for extended periods.

You can read for weeks without charging it and don't have to worry about bringing it to the beach. And of course: no eye strain. And by that I don't only mean the eye strain after half an hour, but I find it uncomfortable even after seconds I read on my iPad.

No, iPad still couldn’t replicate the comfort and overall durability to replace kindle; we need to be very careful when it goes to the usage of iPad, providing the device protective case and screen protector, because without it you’ll risking your iPad to get damaged.
While it’s not the case with kindle paperwhite.

Yes the color of mini 2 is a bit more washed out, so it's not glaring and comfortable to read on

One major reason this video is WRONG...... it's a backlit tablet. Not e-ink.

This fool was obviously paid to make this disingenuous advert and not mention that. The e-ink, durability, battery life and zero-distractibility interface all make e-readers way better options than iPads. Dedicated e readers serve a specific purpose which conventional tablets fail to. Stupid video

Dude, are you in your mind? LCD or OLED display can't be the "perfect" ereader. It is impossible. Stop misleading people. You are just superficial amateur blogger.
