I lost mine skinning a deer in November. Found it again in the spring and there was no rust. Maybe a few specks but it came right off. The handle material was fine to.
I have this knife. I just want to talk about the handle. Most of EDC fixed-blade knife are designed with equal length both on the blade and the handle, for balanced view, meaning same length on the blade and the handle. However, Pendleton mini is designed for handful use. You see its blade is 7.6 cm while the handle is 9.2 cm. Longer handle wins the better control on knife, right? I know the handle couldn't fit all sizes of all hands. But you can't deny that Cold Steel Pendleton mini is so good for its size.
Everyone is comparing expensive knives to a $35-$47 knife depending on where you buy it. $47 too much, you can buy S35VN version for that price range. A lanyard will enhance the length issue.
Need I remind everyone the Mora Garberg full-tang is 3.2mm thick - same as this Pendelton Mini. And Joe X proved with his Cold Steel Recon 1 destruction tests that Aus10 is much stronger than CPM3V. Meaning this could be one helluva underrated legal, self defence/ EDC blade, especially looking at that grippy handle.
I wouldn't put too much faith in JoeX's "tests". He has no standard procedure of testing. To conclude that AUS10 is much stronger than CPM-3V is simply mind-boggling.
@@otobotrecords Yes and no. His tests are not well controlled, true. But it does demonstrate that cheap soft steels are tougher than hard expensive steels. 420hc is far and above more impact resistant than good 59-61 hrc 3V. And his tests do show this when few other knife testers do.

That's actually impressive! Not just the no rust but that you actually found it!

I have the Pendleton Lite, awesome knife for about $20, and, yes, I use it a lot in the kitchen. Great for cutting meat.
Awesome!
Nice review
Do you have an opinion on the SOG Kiku XR?
i think there's also a inexpensive budget steel version of this as well. you think aus 10 is that much better than the lesser sandvik?
AUS 10A is comparable to the performance of 154CM. Pete from the Cedric and Ada channel has tested AUS 10A and said as much.
From my experience, it holds an edge a decent amount better. Anecdotally I’d say about twice as long
Thanks for your title, “watch before you buy. I did just that and decided against buying the mini.
The size vs the 940 osborne put it to rest

@@otobotrecords 1000% agree
Mora Garberg is about $70, and your point 👉 is? I can buy (2) CS CS-36LPMF for $70 and trash them both.
@@tigerpisces5506 I stated my point. And Mora Gerberg is not $70 where I live. Its $170. Good to hear you respect your tools too 🤣
