  • Everyday I try to out do myself from the day before. Always tweaking my processes, organization, time management, etc. Incremental growth is my intention. This is how I stay on top of my game out in the field. As a business owner/operator there are a lot of tasks day to day. That's why its very important for me to stay focused on improving my skills. This video is my process on repairing a leaking condenser coil on a Trane rooftop gas package unit. Having the right tools and work flow helped me get the job done!

      Bermcannon when the coil is that damaged and the unit is that old, it’s better to replace. I’ve made the mistake of trying to save the customer from spending the money on a new unit and just fixing only to have another leak the following summer . It’s not worth it. IMO.

    I have never been able to patch up a leak and less I cut the metal completely out the solder Would never take. It was always the galvanized Metal wore a hole in the copper tube and the only way I could fix it was the metal had to be cut away completely from around the copper tube. Sometimes I haven’t been able to do it it was too tight depending on the coil. Trane probably sells heel guards for that unit you should try to sell the customer one

      Good call. I also have a mid roof Transit. Very convenient. The power is great having an ecoboost, but it has been riddled with repairs...throttle body, turbo, exhaust manifold leaks, wiper transmission, brakes always need replacement, driveshaft recall, blinker electrical issues...etc. we have a fleet of about 22 Transits and the repairs are through the roof compared to even the old E-series.

    You made it look so easy. It looks that way watching pro athletes too but there is always lot’s of solid sork behind that good result.
    Did you add an access port? How did you locate that leak? If vibration caused it, is it likely to happen again nearby? Was that leak just a manufacturing defect? It looked like you read the pressures on your phone. I would have liked a brief description of that equipment. It was nice to see how well organized you had your tools and used the cart to move them into place as much as was possible.

      Carbide tip *

    • @dwight.bennett
      @dwight.bennett 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some are better than others.
      The carbide ones with teeth that resemble a hacksaw blade normally work pretty well. Main thing is to keep them moving and not overheat the blade. Bosch blades are pretty good. Fein are a bit pricey.
      Total pass on any of the Stanley/B&D/Craftsman/DeWalt family of crap. Dremel is cheap too. Never tried Rockwell or Makita.
      Milwaukee is coming out with blades, I'm looking forward to trying them when they become available.
