I believe it's okay to flirt with intention (letting someone know you like them). Flirting just to be flirting (I think) is a waste of time and could be damaging to both parties.

No. Christians shouldn't flirt, tease, dance, or do anything because everything is a sin. It's worldly. And remember you shouldn't love the world or anything in it. People, animals, trees, food are all in the world. So you shouldn't love these things. If you're not reading the bible you're sinning. So you should basically just lock yourself in a room with no windows or doors and just read the bible until you die. Because everything outside of that is a sin. At least that's how some Christians make you feel.

I love how this pastor really cares about singles and helping them in their walk with God in relationships. Especially cool how he says not to take his advice if we don't feel right about it, but follow our hearts and minds in Jesus and follow where God instructs us (which of course I would do anyway but still cool to hear him say it).

Yes...in and with great humility, Ruth laid herself at Boaz's feet offering herself to the one who showed her great favor and knew he would never violate her. She was basically saying that he was her king and in that culture to do that was a sign of complete submission. Boaz was an honorable man and not only offered her his covering, he stopped at nothing to redeem this woman who was a pearl and he treated her like one...precious and valuable.
Thanks for sharing your story!!! I like the authenticity you and your wife share!!

Go out to serve - not to find someone, then your focus is in the right place and you will be led into your Blessing. Psalm 23 tells us The LORD is our Shepherd. He leads us into the Best (green luscious fruitful, enjoyable pastures & still peaceful waters) . His Heart was to serve others. To walk with Him focus on how you can make someone else's life better and yours will be better. You reap what you sow - The Bible.

Wow, great topic! I say, Flirting(non-vulgar) with intention with A PARTICULAR individual with the idea of letting that person know that you like him (or her if you're a guy) is not bad, as long as you're not degrading yourself and giving the wrong impression. Doing the opposite of that, i.e. flirting for the sake of attention can be all together manipulative...I think this is called being a Tease, which can cause major problems. Now Mark, I think that this topic can get even more complicated when you factor in cultural differences and upbringing-just within the states alone, a Southerner may not define flirting in the same way a Mid-Westerner might. That being said, let's not even get into differences when foreign culture comes into play. I say if you're going to flirt, do so intentionally and with one person in mind, therefore avoiding confusion. This doesn't mean you can't be respectfully social (saying hello with a causal smile, for example), but be obvious with the one you want to relay the message to and go from there. Mark, your example as to how you approached your wife is a perfect example. Kudos to you!

I like your videos and believe your share sound biblical wisdom. I am however very frustrated at a continued theme (not just here, but overall) of women having to "make the extra step" to show interest. I'm referring to initial contact. I wouldn't categorize my self as traditional, but I don't embrace the "I'm an independent woman and I don' t need men" argument either. As such, I agree that a woman should be responsive if she is actually interested in the man that approaches. Men I've observed both personally (and at a distance) appear to be very insecure and fearful of the POTENTIAL of rejection. It is as if they want the guaranteed slam dunk without taking any risks. What happened to being strong and courageous?

Thank you for some clarity on the issue. This was something I was thinking about, but didn't know where to even look for that in the Bible. It seems There is a lot of discernment, but I would advise if you are a believer, not to flirt with non-believers. Even if you both are single, you are providing a poor Christian testimony, and since you can't commit to a nonbeliever, don't start a flame in someone you know you can't have. I say this from experience and realize the errors of that.

God bless you. I think being Christian like we dont really flirt. Thats more like a worldy ways of bieng.Yes we could let a person know you like them and how you see them. Cause we are adult's. And before we like someone we are attracted to them first. You just have to choose your words wisely. When your going to say something.Getting to know someone is going to let you know. Just how your going to let that person know how you feel and see the person. But your pretty much clear on the message your bringing about flirting being a Christian 👧🏼⛰📙

He’s dad was preaching and he was standing in the back of auditorium;I was in the Easter play but after the 3rd service which was the last showing ; I got out of my costume and dressed up in my dress and went to watch the sermon the pastor was preaching on . Well there was absolutely no where to sit ;and I was standing all the in the back as well . And that when the pastor son looked over my way and was like I just want to tell you did an amazing job . lol I was smiling and super cheesy and was like thank you !! And so were you lol but he didn’t do anything so I was like you know just for being here . Lol How awkward. I wasn’t trying to flirt but I do like him. I’m not in my 40s and have loved some life so I do have a sense of humor and friends non Christian and some chnstian that makes jokes in this nature. So I laugh at it sometimes. The problem with me is that I am so afraid of coming across seductive or flirtation that I took to extreme and do not “flirt “ at all. So guys never know when I’m interested. As a girl, i find "friendly, outgoin" is not enough. When it comes to a guy interested in me, i will want him to be fun (has a life, unordinary dates), doing act of service (just a small one like holding your bag is enough), be funny and and smart. Flirting is really for fun, we shouldnt make it a number 1 priority, but it works as "salt" in dates
If youre a girl, you can get him a nickname for him, like sleepyhead if he likes sleeping. Thats the example of smooth flirting to get your man

I probably watch too much news but men risk a lot even in trying to flirt. If the woman considers it an unwanted advance (and the 80/20 rule says she most likely will) then any man is opening themselves up to getting the creepy label at best (and we all know women talk about this stuff together) and sexual harassment charges at worst.

I used to work at a gas station and talk to a woman who drove the potato chip delivery truck. People accused me of "flirting" with her. I basically craved being able to talk to women.

Don't flirt with me. Be straight up. "I think you are attractive are you single"? Something like that. We have to remember that Mark was what 19 when he met his wife. So I get flirting for him at that age..... He was not like a 35 or 40 year old man.

There is nothing wrong with flirting if done respectfully you are merely letting the other person know you are interested in them.
And if you can do so in a clean and cute clever way than do so. Just be understanding if the other does not flirt back than stop.
I am turning 30 and i am interested in a 34 women and am trying to come up with a clever and sweet way of letting her know i like her. Nothing wrong with complimenting some ones hair but be careful when giving compliments not to say anything sexual.

Great advice, I was definitely thinking about Ruth and Boaz.
In a lighter note, how would you apply Jacob kissing Rachel at first sight. 😆 Good advice?? See woman, then go for Her LOL.

Don't even joke about it please. :)
That statement is a seed that gets planted. If someone doesn't know you're joking, it may validate their opinion, and they move on. Pride and false intentions come from that mindset.

Well to be honest I do not even know how to flirt. There is no point for me to take part in this. I am straight forward if I like someone they will know right away. I think for me is honest and true. Most off all straight to the point. But to each its own.

Flirting with the one that moves you and you feel like God directed you to is not sinful. Don't flirt in a worldly way. Giving compliments that let them know that you see them, no problem. Flirting with multiple people, bad idea. Be focused. I realize that people flirt with multiple people because they don't want to put themselves at risk emotionally. The problem is, these people you are flirting with see the others you flirt with. One of those people might have feelings forming and be completely turned off and confused. They could think you were singling them out but then you go and flirt in the same way with others.

I will. Please receive the Lord Jesus as your Savior and ask Him to fill you with His Spirit. Get connected with a Holy Bible preaching/teaching church. When you realize how much He loves you and who you are in Him, you will use your authority over all wickedness to exercise self-control. He loves you so much. Walk in your victory in Christ. Ask Him to help you find your spouse.

What do you mean flirting in a way that you don't think is sinful? I thought everything you do is supposed to be filtered by the bible and God. And the Christians believe basically everything is a sin. So flirting is a sin too. So is dancing, sports, eating, breathing, bathing basically being a human being.

how can friends , family and the church help singles

    • @ApplyGodsWordcomMarkBallenger
      @ApplyGodsWordcomMarkBallenger  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

I think it starts by everyone being aware of what that person needs. They should ask and the person should tell them. Some want to be set up on dates and some just want to be included in social events...so the way they help should be based on what the person needs from them

I think the churches, especially where I live, need to form and keep single Bible studies and single events. They are so 'worried' about people sinning that they do not serve the single community at all but push it back and away instead of addressing and helping. They ignore it, think it will go away and treat singles like they are leopards. It's hard to find a good church that cares about the single community, especially for older singles.

There is a christan woman who wants to adopt my husbands children. And i have never met this woman. She took my husband to church. Now this womam called my husband on fathers day which is okay but to ask him to go out amd hes married. And STILL haven't met the wife, because she doesn't or even invite the wife. She is trying to win his heart and knows his weaknesses. Is she a christan? Is she disrespectful? Is she trying to win the husband. Why is she doing all of this? And he doesn't even want this older woman and hes 33yrs.

Sorry there's no 'Holy Flirting'. Flirting for a Christian is vain and is different from communicating interest or fondness for someone. There's so many ways to let someone know you like them without flirting.

Like what exactly? I'm not being facetious; I genuinely want to know the answer. I'm a woman and if a guy seems to be sending out signals that he likes me, how would I signal back or respond to him? I suppose that I could just ask him outright if he likes me, but that seems like a good way to get embarrassed and/or make things awkward.
