I bought a base PS4 just for this game - not disappointed. The load times are a little obnoxious at times but at least the music in the game slaps. As far as graphics, it's a racing game. I don't need to see detailed blades of grass at 140+mph. The game still looks incredible without RT, advanced GI and advanced shadowing.

Always get an SSD for your PS4. Sure it won't magically make your PS4 faster, especially for the non-Pro version. But a standard SATA SSD from a reputable brand can reduce your loading time to around a minute or less in GT7.

This comment is super late, but I agree with the SSD comment. My ps4 pro hard drive crashed, I had to get a new drive and someone recommended going with a SSD instead of the standard HDD. I could not believe the difference it made. My ps4 pro loaded and installed games super fast. I'm sure we've all experienced a laggy moment during game play, the SSD completely removed that issue. I had zero stuttering, freezing, etc. I recently upgraded to a ps5, but that ps4 pro with a high end SSD was amazing for what it was.

I play on PS4, it's a perfectly fine game. I chose to upgrade my old G27 instead of buying a PS5, and I am more than pleased with my decision. I ended up with a Thrustmaster T300RS, T-LCM pedals and the TH8A. I modded the pedals with rubber, skateboard bushings and a spring, and the TH8A has a 75mm shaft attached and a Clixbeetle GT v2. Right away, i noticed the difference. Having a good 4K TV makes a world of difference and watching graphical comparisons on TH-cam makes it a disservice to the PS5.

Have it on PS4, was concerned about load times but they are still better than ACC on a HDD so I'm cool with it. The mini-loading between different screens is where it's more noticeable but still fine. Only place that load times seem insane is when applying changes to cars or driver liveries, it's painful ngl.

Man, I really undervalued loading times at the beginning of this generation, it was possibly the aspect I thought I'd care least about. But being able to jump right back in after messing up keeps the frustration down very well in any game. It can make what would be a stress inducing situation last gen, feel much more accessible knowing you don't have a 45 sec off your life penalty waiting for you upon your inevitable failure.
As for GT7, I've only played the PS5 version, but Holy shit I'm having an incredible time. Polyphony did a fantastic job. And props to any publisher who gives their developers enough time to actually finish their damn game. This feels AAA (or how AAA is supposed to feel anyway) from top to bottom and on day 1. Bravo Sony and the Polyphony team. Thank you for having some integrity towards artistic vision. I hope it's awarded appropriately.

Unfortunately there are still the microtransactions and the excessive grind necessary to get what you want in GT7 in contrast to former GTs. But this still applies to both versions. Interestingly enough Sony "revealed" the microtransaction not right away, but after all mayor critics made their reviews. That's why the metacritic score and positive/negative ratio differs so much between critics and users .

Thanks for this, I've been enjoying the ps4 version. Kinda sucks that there's a group of ps5 owners who resent the cross gen aspect of gt7. Anyone who's played modern pc games know that you can play the same game at low settings or pay through the nose to at ultra.

    • @yudhabaskara4646
      @yudhabaskara4646 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

My issue with the cross-gen support in this case is not graphics, but rather gameplay. Simulators use a lot of CPU power to, well, simulate stuff. This is also true for GT, and unfortunately PS4's weak CPU do hold back the game for having an even more advanced physics engine, since the game has crossplay and that means the physics have to be shared between 2 consoles.

The main reason I wanted to try Gt7 is because of the adaptive triggers.
I don't think there is any game beside Gt7 and Astro-bot that use so much of this new tech.
Otherwise neither the ps4 version of Gt7 or Gt-sport in general are not THAT different from the final ps5 version in terms of gameplay and graphics .
So please If you already bought a 500 bucks console to feel what's new at the table , just spend 10 more dollars and really enjoy .
Even the 4k resolution that was the main goal in gameplay not to be sacrificed , even the loading times that are almost not existent do make the game better .
Adaptive triggers in this game are so good that you won't even need a racing wheel if you don't wont to spend extra 200-300 bucks to take it to the next level.

What interests me the most is the reaction time. I mean, how fast the console detects that you moved the wheel to the left or pressed the breaks. That’s what’s gonna make my lap times. Will the ps5 with all the high graphics turned off detect my driver movements faster than the ps4 pro?

I've got the ps5 and gt7 on it.. my friend has ps4 and he has gt7, so ive seen both, and ps5 version is better and with not only looks but loading times, and when your trying licences and reloading constantly go get that gold the time saved loading is much appreciated trust me... if you use controllers, the added emersion on ps5 is massive bonus, I use a wheel so that doesn't effect my gaming, but I did try the controller for a while to experience it, and it's just spot on. Graphics wise the ps4 version is squeezing all the last dregs of performance out of the system and it does a really great job, but the ps5 just says pass me my beer, I got this.. its that smooth and effortless especially in performance mode, and you really need a decent tv to get the full effect, I bought the 55" sony bravia that was suggested for ps5. Either way gt7 is pretty much a most own game for driving nuts, its setting the standard again.... at last.

It looks good on PS4. But let's not get it twisted, it's way better on PS5 in 4K. My wife kicked me out of the main room of the house where my 4K TV is and made me go into a bedroom for a short time on a regular 1080p television. It was obvious how much different it was. Edges looked grainy. It was like I was back in 1996 on SNES playing Mario Kart.

When attempting to play GT7 on my PS4, instead of on the PS5, I finally found out what people mean about the noisy cooling system on the PS4. I have never, in all of my time owning the PS4, had a game that needed even 20% as much of the cooling as GT7 does. The console sounds like a fully loaded A380 attempting to take off into a 300mph headwind.
Otherwise, it is just the loading time that irritates. Although I found that I could actually complete S10 on the PS4 version because the car was easier to control. Or maybe it was just the fact it was attempt number 19235 that did it

I bought the PS4 version even though I'm playing it on a PS5. I "upgraded" to the PS5 digital version for $10, but I find myself playing the PS4 version more. The PS5 upgrades are minimal in my opinion. I also measured how many watts the PS5 is pulling while running each version and the PS5 version used double the electricity! The air coming exhausting from the back of the PS5 while playing the PS5 version was warm and barely room temperature running the PS4 version. Also, the PS4 version has much shorter loading times on PS5 relative to how long they are played on a PS4 (although the PS5 version has almost no load time at all).

There's no migrating your save game. Your game is saved online. Even if you delete your save on your console it will start where you left the game. There's no way to start over without creating a new PSN account.
Which is dumb. I like to restart my games from time to time but when I've cleared GT7 I'm only left with online mode which I have no interest in.

You’re actually wrong about many of the points you make in this video. Especially the ray tracing. Sure you don’t get ray tracing in races, but most people who are taking their racing seriously or competitively are using the bumper or hood cam anyways. Now for what you missed. Not only do you get ray tracing in replays, but also the photo mode and menus as well which presents the cars much better when looking at them through the menus. And ESPECIALLY in photos mode. And much better race replay photos.
As for the dual sense, the trigger resist will make you a much better driver since you can feel braking pressure, ABS slip and control throttle input much better. So unless you have EXTREMELY good discipline with your trigger inputs, the guy on PS5 will always be faster than you.
The load times are unbearable on the PS4 with this game, it would be extremely frustrating.
If my opinion is worth anything, just wait to get the game on PS5. Yes GT7 is fantastic! But by the time you get your PS5 it will be even better because of updates. As most of you know PD is working out some serious issues with the game right now anyways. What I would do personally if you just can’t wait, is buy the PS5 anniversary edition as it comes with a PS4 code with it and then you can get started now and you have the PS5 version when you’re ready. Just know that the game really is a MUCH better experience in the PS5

Even still today i play it on ps4 pro and it looks and plays awesome, not worth the upgrade for me as GT is all I really play. The only reason to upgrade would be VR but I cant convince myself to spend a grand to play GT in VR. Otherwise when playing you really dont feel there is anything missing or that could be better, except loading times which at most only seem to be around 30 seconds from memory and is really not an issue

If your willing to pay 100$ish. I just bought a WD Black external ssd for my PS4.
My load times are insanely faster. (Longest load time is 15-20 sec now)
And my regular load times are typically 5-10sec
Even though the ps4 bottle necks the original Performance of that ssd on my ps4 slim, there is a huge improvement.
