TOTO Drake Toilet Install

- In todays project we will be removing an older TOTO toilet that someone modified with another brand of tank that also has water leaking from the floor flange.
We will install a new TOTO Drake system model number C776CEFG #01 base and ST776EA #01 tank.
Follow along while I install the TOTO Drake step by step.
I make it so easy that a handyman or even a DIYer can install the TOTO.
I will start by unbolting the old toilet and disconnecting the water line.
Then clean the sewer flange.
Don't forget to place a rag in the pipe to stop sewer gasses from escaping and keep tools and parts out of the pipe.
Use a good wet vac like the Dewalt VAC to remove the water from the tank and bowl and then remove the toilet.
Open the new TOTO Drake boxes and remove the toilet and parts.
Assemble the new unit by attaching the tank to the bowl.
Install the flange bolts and the wax ring.
In this install we have a floor level issue so I end up uninstalling the toilet and re-installing the toilet with a new rubber wax-less seal.
Use a good level like the DeWalt level to make sure the TOTO toilet is level before securing the Toilet to the flange.
Install the toilet seat that is not supplied by TOTO and the tank lid.
Caulk the base and trim off the wedges and you're done.

Excellent, video. Very interesting showing the leveling issues and using the alternative seal type. I actually didn't mind the music you chose. Thanks!
Thank you, I appreciate the comments
Excellent video. Subscribed. Keep them coming.
Thank you!
Good tip's & great video, thank you.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I appreciate you watching.
This is a great vid, wish I watched it before installing my Drake. Installed the tank after setting the toilet because it was easier for me to mount the toilet. I didn’t do the double nut sys, thought I had two extra nuts. Used all 4 washers though, put washers under the heads of the attachment screws, thinking the larger dia washer was better for compressing the rubber seals from inside the tank. Then placed the other two washers over the ends of the screws and tightened the tank down.
Doing it this way uses the same torque to tighten both the attachment screw seals & the tank-to-toilet seal. Nothing leaks, so I'm not going to re-do the tank install, just need to remember that if I ever need to remove the tank, will need to empty it of water before loosening the attachment screws :)
I install the tank before and after depending on the situation. Sometimes it’s easier to just mount the tank after if it’s a small bathroom. Just keep an eye on the tank it might start leaking in time, as long as it’s working I would leave it alone. If it does start to leak it will be a small drip most likely. Thank you for watching, I really do appreciate it and if you have any questions on anything diy let me know. Happy DIYing!
Pro level stuff. Tku!
Thank you very much for the compliment and watching
love the detail thanks
You’re very very welcome thank you for the comment and thank you for watching
I purchased my TOTO from Lowe's they wanted $250.00 for installation. I am not sure what you charge but $250.00 isn't bad. I put mine in myself (at my age I think I will out live it) but for all that is involved especially if you have to install one off the main floor that $250.00 might be a bargain (if it is installed correctly). You never know what you make encounter. Bad existing flange or flange screws - filthy floor or walls - the weight and condition / handling/disposal of all the parts involved etc. In my case we still had cast iron and it was 50/50 but it appears that it will stay (at least until I'm gone lol) and then plastic needs to be put in. The toilet we removed looked great just to small but underneath it all was a mess. You could not tell by looking at it.
That’s not a bad installation price but that is a basic rate anything extra needed should change the price. Installers for big box stores are gambling on up-charges and high volume. Thank you for watching and the comments.
What was the size of the wax ring and new connector hose you had to get? along with the size of the mounting bolts?
Your mounting boats are all gonna be standard size when you go to the store they’ll just sell them in a pack as far as the gasket goes or the wax ring depending on what you’re putting on those are generally going to be standard sizes as well that’ll really be determined by the toilet that you were installing the hose itself is also determined by the valve that you have in the wall. The part that goes into the tank is all standardized, but your shut off valve could be a different size, so take yours to the store with you and buy an exact replacement
Better with out music
Some I add music and some I don’t. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank you for the video. The music is a little much tho
Thank you for watching
I like the music 😢
@@sonder423 some people like the music and some don’t, it’s hard to make everyone happy, thank you for the comment.
One more thing - Would someone PLEASE show how the SEAT that comes with it is installed - it is needed. thanks
The seat is definitely different, read the directions closely. I will try and make a video on that soon, great idea. I did find this video, I hope it helps you. th-cam.com/video/6deRR7KEoYM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6x7LGF_MeK5zgw4t
@@UltimateDiyer What I figured out is that the hardware that came with mine is the same hardware for the Bidet upgrade. So I watched a Bidet video for Toto and learned how to install. I guess the want you to upgrade so they send you the hardware with the regular seat lol.
@@wg7644 that makes sense, depending on the store you purchase from, not all Toto even come with the seat. I just bought another higher end brand of Toto from Home Depot and it does have the seat. That’s great info to know about the hardware, thanks for the update.
Are the ToTo toilets really that much better?
Absolutely
Yes it is
Appreciate the video content as I am getting ready to install a Toto Drake. The music not so much.
Thank you sir, appreciate you watching
Let me know if you have any issues installing it maybe I can help.
Will do. It won't be here until the end of November. Thank you for the offer.@@UltimateDiyer
