    I have to tell you how helpful your videos have been. I just got the 1181 and was having a terrible time with the knee lift (I have arthritis in my right knee and I could hardly move the lift and finally just started lifting the knee lift with my hand - which as you can imagine won't be ideal with sewing an actual project that requires both hands on the fabric). I watched a few of your videos including this one and made some adjustments and it's like a miracle! Thank you so much for sharing these videos and your knowledge!

    In doing research on machines this reminds me of setting coils on lawnmowers to get correct spark. What we do all the time is take a thickness of a business card between the fly wheel and the coil for correct spacing then snug up the coil. In this example you could use like 3-4 cards between the bolt and the base of the machine. This was setting up the machines are all consistent. thanks for the video I like the fact you do get close to what you are talking about.

    You are so helpful with troubleshooting I want to cry. Was so stressed with my Thor bunching with thick seams only. Never thought to adjust the knee lift. Makes so much sense. Would love to see a video on the Thor 1541s because there are a few differences from the JUki 1541s. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge. Keep them coming!

      I am happy to hear the video helped you. I cannot do a video on the Thor because that is a specific dealers machine that we do not carry.

    Hi Steve, I have been having problems with tension, knots on bottom, then after a lot of adjustment, its fine except 1 knot on top almost consistently every 4 inches. Disks not always gripping thread. But I remember I did adjust the peddle a while ago. Thanks for a great video.

    I am using a Maqi heavy duty machine with coats tkt 20 yarn. I am unable to get proper tension on the top stitch as the loop at the bottom do not disappear. I am sewing pvc tarpaulin material and it is really a problem. When I go thicker material it even skip stitches. I really need your assistance please locally no technician able to help me on this one

    Steve, when you sew up to a 90 degree corner, you stop at the corner with needle slightly coming up from bottom, you then lift the foot with the knee peddle, turn the fabric 90 degrees, drop the foot and then carry on sewing. Is that correct.

    Hello, do you think this can cause poor lockstitch, having some ghost problems with formation of my reverse stitch, overall my stitch is perfect, besides the inconsistent lock stitch..

    I have an issue with my umbrella black pin it's bending while pressing with the knee , not sure if it's a tension problem but it often slips of the metal plate of the knee lift, what should I do?

    What do you suggest as a good quality thread to run thru a juki industrial sewing machine? I think part of my issue I have is thread

      Which model Juki do you have? The StrongBond and SeraBond are excellent for a heavy duty machines, but the SabaC is better for a machine lighter weight machine.

    Thanks for this video! I think this may be an intermittent problem I’m having. It’s intermittent because I get tense sewing sometimes because I’m not used to my machine yet and I’ve caught myself pushing on the knee lift. I’m hoping this will help me correct the intermittent problem I’m having with thread looping.

      Julia, Steve may of found the answer to our problems.

    • @juliamartin4141
      @juliamartin4141 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m also wondering if the knee lift has less play, but still some, and the bulk gets the foot high, could that cause the tension problem?

    • @paulj3653
      @paulj3653 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@juliamartin4141 I understand what you mean. I just wish a knew more about the mechanics of sewing machines.

    • @Sewinggold
      @Sewinggold  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is possible too. If the material is too thick and the foot is too high, the tension can release too. Great comment Julia!

      Hi All, I have just checked my knee lift and there is almost NO play in it, may 1/2 inch at best quite stiff, knee lift vertical, so thanks Steve, I will make the adjustments and let you all know what happened.

    Hey Steve, what are your thoughts on techsew? I’m looking into techsew 2900 long arm but can’t find much information which seems sketchy to me

    • @Sewinggold
      @Sewinggold  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately we don't have a lot of experience with Techsew machines. I believe that is a brand made by Raphael's Sewing in Canada. We have had a few Techsews in my shop for repair, but never the 2900.

    OMG! This makes perfect sense! I immediately tightened up my knee lift when I got the 8700 home. Probably the wrong thing to do. I couldn't understand why I was having so many tension issues with certain threads. This has to be it! I will re-adjust tomorrow and try again. Thanks Steve!! Keep 'em coming. Love all the tips and tricks you share on all the machines. Much appreciated!
