I've watched a lot of painting tutorials over time and this was a particularly great one. Lots of great tips, several different sample models, and you despite being a 30 minute video, all your points were still made conisely (you just had a lot of points to make!). Great job, I will be sticking around for more!

I've been watching already hundreds of videos (literal) from many different TH-camrs to start painting (vacations, watching on the ⛱️). Boy this guide is awesome. I love your videos, your coverage and your "to the point" attitude is the best. kudos!
I've subscribed to your channel because this particular video (I've watched a couple others) is essential, in my humble opinion, for people wanting to start painting miniatures, maybe not as a full-featured tutorial but as a very wide guide of principles and (for me the most important and valuable part) giving a clear image of what are you going to find when you start painting miniatures. The only think I miss in this video, which can be seen in some of the takes like the belly of the Charizard, is miniature surface preparation to make sure all surfaces are smooth and regular so relatively large areas of single colors with no texture do not reveal flaws in the manufacturing process. I've been painting for a long time (not as well as you, not by a VERY LONG shot, you're a very good artist) and one of the things that clearly improved my results, since I was not able to spend a lot in high quality miniatures, was surface preparation. In short, filling and sanding surfaces. Of course, now with 3D printing the surfaces are usually very good already, and for some high quality injected models even mold lines are barely visible, but I have spent quite a good amount of time preparing the surfaces of lesser quality miniatures so they appeared much better than they were at first. I understand that this video could not stop at those details, and I've seen your miniatures and you do some surface preparation or you are AN EXTREMELY GOOD painter and can disguise some surface flaws and blemishes with your paint (I can't, I'm not that good 🤣), so don't take this as a negative criticism of the video, which is GREAT, it's just it's something I missed and that took me some time to learn when I first started painting a veeeeery long ago. Nice video, really, I liked it VERY much 😊

Great job! The only thing I would change is the order of the "before" and "after" results. Usually the things "before" are on the left and the things "after" on the right.

I've been painting forever, but now my son is showing an interest, and this video does a really great job of the basics of brush painting that I wish I had known (and could see) when I started. You've managed to show the good old fashioned basics here that are so easy to lose with everything else these days (oils, inks, airbrush, even contrast paints etc...). Very good video. I'm trying to get into painting miniatures cause my goal is to one day paint my Dark Souls board game miniatures in a way, they look as close to their in-game models. But before I touch them, I want to be sure of my skills, so I'm going to start by practicing on Warhammer miniatures then hopefully within some number of months I can the Dark Souls duders. This video helped a ton and I'll be sure to refer to it often. Thank you soooo much.

biggest tip i can give while learning, watch not only this guide, but maybe 4 or 5, because everyone has different techniques, and some work flows and painting techniques might fit your work style or aesthetics better

This helps a lot for me since I’ve just got into painting warhammer models with my orks and it’s better to practice on multiple model units before character models for practice as I’m wanting to do as good as I can for my character models

In the video you say you should, "glue the minifigures together first." I am curious why everyone says this. I will cut the parts off a tree, "clean them" of extra plastic, and gather them together to keep figure parts straight. I put on base coats and layer coats before gluing. I feel that before shading and final details/highlights, that yes it should be together for consistency (although watching your "never use Nuln Oil again" video I might not). What are your thought/feels about why you should put them together first?

One thing I'd add, if you paint for a long time continously, and feel like it's still missing something - put it down, and get back to it tomorrow. Maybe with a fresh eye you will see better what needs to be done, or you can conclude that it is already fine for your purposes.
To be honest this is the best ever guide on painting miniatures I've ever seen. I love how everything was explained without assuming watcher knows everything about priming, layering ... Really good job! Just one question: As you have shown there is the possibility of printing miniatures via 3D printes, which one would you recommend that gives enough quality without spending a kidney on buying it?

7:29 When I add at least a little water to the paint, there are always two problems. 1. the paint falls on the figure unevenly 2. It is mainly applied in such a thin layer that it almost does not paint over the elements of the figure.
That brush looks incredible. You even do metallics and it stays in good shape. What's the trick beside not getting paint on the ferrule and let it dry downward
Thanks for the tips. I paint Nolzur minis for D&D with Army painter stuff and use some Citadel metallics which Army dosent have. Im also using the Citadel mini holder to some degree. And whys theres a lack of brass metallic colors? Gold, silver even bronze and copper are easier to find. Brass color FYI is the color usually found on trumpets, tubas etc. Copper with zinc gives brass, copper with tin gives bronze.
Are you sure you used synthetic brushes? Those looked so pro for me! 🤯 Awesome video as always! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us, the mortals. 😁
I wouldn't recommend pva glue for bases. It tends to fall apart eventually. Thin CA glue (superglue) will hold much better, especially if we talk about rocks.

My personal favorite budget paint handle is wine corks with blue tack. I always ask friends and relatives for extra wine corks.

Accidentaly switched to kolinsky for blacklining spiderman, but otherwise yea!
