I enjoy Masterclass lessons. AFter watching your video on wet palettes I am nestling down to watch an hour long tutorial, but I know that I will come out the back end more knowledgeable and more eager to put into practice what you have taught me. I understand that this video is over a year old but hey I just started learning and want to become better version of myself. Thank you for this and many other videos you have uploaded. They are of a great help and source of betterment that I have already applied some things your other videos have taught me and I am excited about making more skillful and detailed paint work in the future! Thank you very much for your time and effort! EDIT: Subscribed and liked!

@Squidmar Miniatures: I never painted any minis in my life, but 2 weeks ago I stumbled over a video from you and - oh man - every time my child sleeps I cant stop watching them since then. Always jumping back and forth in your timeline. Its so interesting to watch you paint and the sense of excitment from you over every miniature and detail is so refreshing. The music is a great addition, not to much in the front but noticably emphasizing the right moments. Your paints are so incredibly pleasing to the eye. I aways stop the video when the figure is done and try to spot some more detail I missed. Oh and I notice way more colour transitions and nice compositions in nature since I started watching. Thank you so much for your content! This video was amazing!

A reminder that it is okay to feel frustrated if things aren't going exactly how you imagined.
You still made progress, you're still moving forward, you will get better the more you do, it's okay, your work is still valid.
Airbrush clogs happen, brushes don't always behave as you want, thinning paints can go wrong, blending might not be as smooth as you felt you could do.
It's okay, keep at it :)

Shouldnt the hair be brightest at the top, since that is where the light source is located and where if pulled into ponytail a strong, convex reflection would be? His cheekbone shadow is also way too "deep" (dark)and should be only where the skull naturally has a recess - here it goes to the side and up where the bone protrudes more. If you haven't already I'd strongly suggest checking out Marco's videos on shadow / light colours and ambient occlusion. He talks extensively about how light inherits colour from surfaces and how different surfaces reflect it - here for example, the squid would be likely to inherit some of the green from magic light as it is very shiny, nonporous surface even though it's not as close to the light source (also presence of metal bracer that is also a strong reflective surface makes it even more likely). You are an excellent miniature painter and honestly make some of us classically trained artists look bad, especially with your masterful brushwork. You just keep better and better and I believe studying the nitty-gritty of colour theory in relation to direct and indirect light and different types of shadows is one of the very few things left you can do to improve further. Ordering your brushes was recommended to me by a professional painter as an excellent watercolour set, and he is a brush elitist so going to give them a try. I hope You and all other amazing mini painters and makers of this generation will finally close the stupid divide between "serious" "good" "fine" art and "hobby" "craft" - because the stuff you guys do, both when it comes to figures and terrain oftentimes surpasses the quality (not to mention effort level) of celebrated fine art pieces while getting far less recognition and financing. I'd love to see some crossover with acrylic painter on your channel, a portrait artist maybe? Hugs, M.

Basically painting up to the top is really a good idea that's somewhat great.
But in my opinion because its below the overhanging muscle it should be darker so maybe the first layer but I wouldn't do it after that.

    First off, love the video!
I do think though this video is NOT for beginner painters. Many new painters aren't going to start with airbrushing so I think, although this is a great video, it is NOT for a beginner but for those who have been painting for some time and are ready to step up into the world of airbrushing.

did my first wet blend today on something small and out of sight and was supprised at how good it was. though it was something simple like purple and dark purple, I'm somewhat glad at how (easy?) it was & that I've reached a sort of milestone in miniature painting!
