Dealerships will ruin both.
Yep
Supply and demand, it's not 2020 anymore. Not every car will get a markup.
A quarter ton truck for 65k without dealer mark ups is hilarious
@@jp23x these two will
Dealerships in my area are already saying minimum 10k markup.
Both of these trucks are beautiful, too bad they're out of reach for 80% of your audience.
In Australia is 100k so stfu
Nice cheap trucks. The problem with the Ranger Raptor is the coil springs on the back, cutting towing ability by 2,000 pounds. I do a pricing for Lariat and it works out about $5,000 cheaper than the Raptor. And that's probably enough to convince me to get the Lariat.
@@healingenso7923if towing is a high point of sale for you i think the full-size truck is the market you should be searching in. Midsize trucks have always been about toy hauling and offroad performance. And I think it should stay that way. Towing a bit? Yeah, i get that. Froends are going to ask for help moving and a trailer will speed that up, but if your looking to haul a couple ton of bricks upsize in truck.
I own a raptor, they are cheap lol.
@wizzylizzy69 I'm gonna become a tech this year and I'm planning on getting either a tacomo, ranger or an f150. I like motorcycles more, but need a truck for tools etc.
(I have zero experience in riding a big truck, only car I've driven is a suzuki swift) what do you suggest ?
I bought my Ranger Raptor a year ago (in 11 days), and am about to clock 15,000km (9,300mi). It’s been awesome. I cannot rate it highly enough. A couple of tuning houses here in Australia are already getting 620lb-ft (up 190), and 483hp (up 90) from these engines - with one (licensed and authorised by FoMoFo), doing the tune and preserving the factory 5 year warranty on the powertrain.
I paid $92,000AUD ($60,000USD) for it, but had to wait 7 months.
I’d buy another one in a heartbeat though (if anything happened to it). I just wish I could use it more. I keep searching TH-cam for Ranger Raptor content because I can’t wait to start seeing the stuff you Americans will be putting out about it on adventure.
Mine was a piece of garbage and it’s already been moved on. Off-road they are also thirsty as hell. 180km to the tank on Frazer Island. Bring on the new Hilux hybrid.
@@henrya1051performance is expensive. Drive a Porsche 911 sedately and the economy is probably alright. Drive it hard on track and the consumption skyrockets. Air down a Raptor and drive hard on sand, and the consumption climbs. Grab a normal dual cab doing 9L/100km and the Raptor is already using a third more than that (3L/100km). If you get 14L/100km out of a diesel dual cab, your thirtier Raptor is going to push 17-19L/100km. Succumb to the urge to use the Raptor how it’s advertised, and you’ll see 17, 18, 19L per hundred. Drive it non-stop like the ads and you’ll easily see 40L/100km.
Hybrids aren’t going to be revolutionary for off-roading. Toyota’s new Tacoma hybrid only has a 1.9kWh battery, and the powertrain of that is widely considered to be the underpinnings of the next Hilux hybrid.
To put a dampener on that, Ford announced their PHEV package coming for Ranger, quoting EV-only range of 45km.
A Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV does 84km on 20kWh, weighing in at 2,020kg. The PHEV Outlander weighs 260kg more than a regular Outlander.
Dual cab Rangers are about 2,300kg and will incur couple hundred kilos of battery and electric motor, so a similar 19kWh battery moving 29% more weight would be a net decrease of about 44% range putting range of about 47km - close enough.
So let’s say 300kg more weight for a 19kWh battery and electric motors, making the Rangers 2,600kg, to get 45km.
Expect the next Hilux to be bigger and heavier than the current model as it gets crammed with more tech.
So if Toyota just slaps the 1.9kWh hybrid powertrain from Tacoma into the next Hilux, don’t expect anything special off-road in terms of fuel consumption, because it will be out of power in no time.
If Toyota want to give Hilux a 40-50km EV-only range (on road), then firstly; don’t expect more than 10-15km off road unladen. And secondly, because hybrids generate new power through harvesting things like braking, then the opportunity to harvest when your aired down will be limited as the physics of the rolling resistance of sand and flatter tyres will deprive you of most of that harvesting.
Add in that your Hilux would be about 300kg heavier than standard as well, so if you’re out of charge, your T24A 2.4L TI4 petrol will be left to lug around the circa 2,500kg Hilux (excluding people and gear).
So for me, these forthcoming hybrid trucks will be good for large camp power setups, removing the need to engage aftermarket battery companies to sort out an electrical system.
Ford’s Rangers optioned with the PHEV package will come with a selector to choose between Full EV mode, hybrid assistance, or charge saving, so you can be either pure electric propulsion, a mixture of ICE and electric, or saving all the electricity for use at your leisure.
That means if you go camping, you can save all your power for the camp. If other manufacturers like Toyota don’t do that, you could find yourself driving to camp with the vehicle chewing through the battery charge, and arriving with virtually no power.
Will I sell my Raptor for a PHEV Ranger? I have no intention yet, but I’d never rule it out.
@@henrya1051don’t buy a performance truck then if you can’t afford to keep it running 🤣
@@henrya1051how was it bad? Mines been amazing. Also 180kms? I’m getting way more then that off-road, maybe it needs a driver mod?
Looks like dual exhaust tips out of a single pipe

Yes, kind of a rookie statement from someone who ‘knows trucks’!!
I love my ranger raptor, crazy power and the FOX shocks are amazing. The big down side, fuel economy, no so ECOboost 15mpg 😅
Trucks are just too damn expensive period! I’ll keep fixing up something used and save my self a chunk of change.
Blame the people who buy them it’s going to end up like our housing issue where the only thing being built is giant profit margin driven vehicles with “luxury” features. Part of the US problem is consumers.
@@Michael-ur5qb You couldn't be more accurate with your statement but folks will never understand they are causing the high prices and will complain while they are picking up their new overpriced truck.

I live in Baja Mexico the ranger raptors have been here for a while good looking trucks standing next to one they are not that small. I own f150 with a 2.7 eco boost super fast powerful truck the 3.0 will be a rocket in a ranger.
I love the ranger raptor but after owning a Tacoma, I learned that midsize trucks suck if you want to have people in the back seats. If you don’t carry anyone sure get one.
But I’m not paying that for a midsize truck when I literally bought a fully loaded F150 platinum with 20k miles for under 60k
I had the same problem once my kids got bigger. Had to trade up from my ranger to f-150
Damn that’s a crazy deal!
Yes that's called bad resell value something ford has
I agree 100%! Owned a Gladiator and loved it but way to small. Now I own a f150 Powerboost and what a big incredible truck!

I've been watching a long time. You guys are great. Andre is by far my favorite, he gets so excited about cars and loves to learn.
Raptor for sure
I love my 2023 raptor 🎉 here in Australia
Raptor with the Tacoma color. I like that both have the dash with instruments (probably digital, but it's OK) in front of the driver, and a screen aside. This is showing that you are on a car, or truck and not in your office. BMW, and other cars, like you to stay in an office even when you're driving your car... the dash is a huge horrible screen similar to that you have in your office. Of course, if you don't work in an office you don't care, but then think that you are always in front of the screen of your PC, even when you're sitting on your car. Thanks for the video guys!
Toyota may end up holding its value better after a decade, but the Ford just looks so much more fun and exciting. Definitely going with the Ford Raptor 😊
toyota is still gonna run after that half a decade, too!
@brianmola711 still more torque. yall really complaing about better gas mileage?
A duel tip is far from duel exhaust my friend.
The Y fitting almost visible from above lol

I love it when you leave the front seat all the way back and then call the back seat small.
They are small. Very small. No one sits in the backseat without a person in the driver seat so I am not sure what your point is
@GerardoTostado the point is that the average height male is 5'9. Yet they push the seats back like the person driving and sitting up front in the passenger seat are always 6'5.
Been watching them since 2018 now it’s 2024 and I’m 15yrs old seen there progress and struggles one of if not favorite truck channel/channels

12:07 Disconnectable front sway bar vs a front locker shouldn't even be used as a argument.. in just a few mins anyone can disconnect their front sway bar in a parking lot. If you go to an off-road park most people have manual sway bar discounts.. a front locker is the biggest game-changer you will ever come across when off roading.. they will help you climb vertical surfaces. That you could not go up without.
This.
Yep, they work instantly too. Brilliant system.

Toyota should’ve had a twin turbo V6 as an option like the ranger raptor. Only having 4 bangers as an option sucks
They lost their reputation this this one
cuz they don't make more torque? cuz they won't last longer? Just wait for the xrunner if you want 2 more cylinders, toyota is for the common everyday person who doesn't need to have the best stats to be the best.
Ranger raptor hands down, the front lockers are far more valuable for me then the front disconnecting sway bar. The four wheel auto in the ranger raptor is also hyper important for my life in the province of quebec where our winters are terrible. I don't want anything to do with a vehicle that isn't a default four wheel drive at all times.
The lights and interior are nicer for the ranger raptor despite the body being nicer for the Tacoma.
The battle is really regarding the chevrolet colorado zr2 and the ranger raptor in my personal opinion.
Very close to what I said elsewhere!! 😊
For my money, roughly $16,000 - $20,000, it’s only the ZR2. The shocks being DSSV, they are soo close and potentially better than the TRD Pro Foxes.
they can put rocket boosters on the raptor...but, its a ford. Won't get you home. 🌮🌮🌮🌮 SUPREME! 🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮
@@DonTrumpF2024ever - The 2022 Tundra is n screaming h*ll when it comes to reliability. Toyota is not the mythical monster they used to be. Too much competition out there forcing them to take chances and make big changes vs minor changes. If it was the 4Runner??? Heck yeah!! But even Jeep can get pretty reliable putting out the same powertrain year after year. The new 4Runner,,, will not ever be as reliable as the current one. Toyota has accepted that as a trade off and now they are #1 in profits (14% vs Tesla at 9%). They will still be good vehicles, but not as good as they used to be. Ford Rangers are pretty reliable. Better than the F-series!!
Nothing good comes from Chevy so no
@@leonel9110 Fords quality control went down the drain hard-core these last few years compared to chevy. Regardless I will wait 2 or 3 more years before purchasing either car.
The fact toyota added turbos means that they lost the engine durability they used to have. Hopefully their body remains of decent quality but just like the ranger raptor and the chevy colorado zr2, I am waiting 2 or 3 more years to wait and see.
Andre, can you expand on the "pressurized fuel tank" for the Hybrids? This is the first I'm hearing of it and am not sure I understand what's different and why.
This is like comparing the Tundra TRD Pro vs. F150 Raptor R, it’s not a really fair comparison. The Taco TRD is bad ass, but the Ranger Raptor is a Super Truck in this segment.

Not really, the Ranger Raptor and the Tacoma TRD pro it's a much more fair fight
Nissan needs to step up their game. They are in a spot to take over the $35-40k truck market.
Take your price and subtract 10k, then that car company will rule that segment.
Nissan hasn't been truly competitive for decades.
NOT dual exhaust! Dual tips...big difference 😅
I got a good laugh at that. 😂. They immediately pan to the single exhaust.
One of these trucks has a front locker in addition to the rear. One of these trucks has wider axles and longer control arms, giving it more suspension travel in every scenario, even when the TRD Pro unlocks its stabilizer, than the other. That truck is the Ranger Raptor. It also happens to get the 3.0L EB giving it more horsepower. We also know the MSRP for the Ranger Raptor is about $55K-$58K even optioned up. The TRD Pro is probably going to be over $63K. This isn't close. The prices Toyota are charging for the new Tacoma are crazy, especially the higher trims.
You can disconnect the sway bar in a parking lot. People with jeeps been doing it for years. Shouldn't even be in the conversation.
Auto 4wd in the ranger too. People in colder regions like that quite a bit.
Toyota not offering 4X Auto in their offroad oriented trucks is a deal breaker here in the northern states. Mixed condition roads (Dry pavement with wet or snow-covered spots) don't do well with 2x or with a locked 4x (Binds on the dry portions). Only offering an AWD system in the Limited will limit their market when all of the competitors have it available.
You cant use 4H ?
Driving around on mostly dry pavement on 4X is hard on the drive line and you have to remember to switch it from 2X to 4X. With the other brands, you switch it into 4 Auto once and forget about it. The truck will automatically switch to 4x in microseconds when it looses grip and then back to 2X when the event is over. Nothing to remember or screw with.
@blute3085 lemme guess, u buy automatic cars, too?
@@7w229 I started driving stick shift at age 12, (Tractors on the farm and trucks in the hay fields). However, over 90+% of vehicles no longer offer stick shift, crank windows, or any of the other manual controls from yester year. The vast majority of buyers don't want them. Buyers want all the comfort and convenience features their available dollars will afford. This is especially true for AWD systems in the north. It is one of the reasons SUV's have taken over the market to the point many manufacturers have scaled back or eliminated their sedan offerings. You may not prefer them, but the market has made their preferences clear and most manufacturers have listened.
I'm from the northeast and never once wanted such a feature. 4hi is lovely for what you're describing and is still open diff. It's not locked unless you engage the locker.
Not a fan of the super-shiny black Taco flares & trim
That was a way to push up prices for the initial release. Same as the side steps. Silly add ons that they charge a fortune for.
Im not a fan of a plastoc bed in a body on frame truck. Plastoc bed belongs om budget kings like mavrick not tacoma or ranger or f150.
Did the wider track come from longer control arms so we get more travel or is it just wheel spacers and fender flares?
I have ‘21 Tacoma but leaning to Ranger Raptor.
Same boat might sell my trd 4x4 manual for a new raptor
Yup 2021 Tacoma and leaning to the Raptor but probably will order a 25 or 26. Not the first year… but reliability doesn’t matter anymore most of these engines last 200-300k miles.
$60k for a midsize. I just can't even...
The Rapture Ranger will do circles around the Taco, and looks so much better with a much nicer interior!
RR blows its doors off and is the better deal imo. I do give the tacoma the nod on looks though.
I appreciate these expensive models which help make profit for their OEMs and makes the rest of the lineup a little more approachable.
I will definitely be looking to get the TRD Pro. While there are markups in Texas where I live, not at all the dealerships. People talk about the markups like it's guaranteed, so far with the 2024 Tacoma's already out, some dealers are marking up here and good ones are not :)
I’ve had an f150, Tacoma, a full size raptor and a Chevy Colorado, my blue 2024 ranger raptor just arrived yesterday, I ordered it in December. They sold it to me for msrp with taxes tags and everything it came out to 61,000 even, they gave me 23000$ for my 2018 f150 lariat, with 108k miles on itI have nothing bad to say about Ford, there was not one issue and I got the bumper-to-bumper warranty for an extra $3000 so I’m covered for every nook and cranny up to 75,000 miles. That includes computer glitches, anything and it’s replaced for free. People do not read these videos comparing this to that, without a flinch it is the most amazing vehicle I have ever owned-people take it from me, Nothing comes close. It is like a dream if you have the money and the means I suggest if you’re a truck enthusiast, you buy one. It has it all!!! I had a 5.0 V8 in my lariat and I had a 2017 raptor with that 3.5 L V6 with 450 hp, traded it in on the f150 because for the amount of money I paid for it. I felt that engine absolutely sucks. way too much $ for a V6. They never should’ve ever put a V6 in a full-size raptor stupidest move ford ever made. The 5.0 V8 is a better engine then the 450 hpower raptor V6 it’s non-debatable because I owned them both. The ranger raptor 3.0 V6 turbo goes 0 to 60 in 5 seconds flat. Don’t believe the dirt sheets, it is the best engine I have ever had in a vehicle, it smokes the 5.0 as well. It is insane and I promise you it smokes the full size raptor v6. Ford would never allow it to be shown to the public legit. I know; I owned both, the Colorado and Tacoma are not even in its league, they are inferior in every way, I’m sorry folks, it is what it is. I had a 15 tacoma and a 15 Colorado i traded them both in on the full size raptor. There engines were trash. I honestly do not know why the Tacoma is hyped up so much DONT BELIEVE IT and you’re in denial if you do. The Colorado engine was the worst. I test drove a Tacoma last year and . The only benefit of a Toyota Tacoma is the six speed manual they make,I like that, I think the Chevy Colorado ZR is a bad ass looking truck, I love the look of the ZR2, but the engine is trash, my buddy has a 2023 black ZR2 and you cannot compare to the Ford Ranger raptor engine. It’s not fair. There’s not a comparison. I’m telling you people it’s the facts. Same with the Tacoma the one I test drove a year ago had 275 hp and honest to God you can’t compare these two trucks because they don’t measure up. That’s just the facts. I’m not having a debate about off Roading, I’m just telling you flat out if you’re looking at these vehicles from an engine performance angle, these are the facts. I wanted the raptor with a 5.2 predator supercharged V8 but I’m sorry even with somebody like myself that has a little bit of cash to throw around, I could not force myself to buy a raptor R for 150k. The Ranger raptor is exactly the exact same width that my 2018 F150 was and a foot and a half shorter. With a wheelbase 17 inches narrower which makes it better for going through mud and snow. If I had one complaint, it’s the fact that to lock the front differential in the Ford Ranger raptor it is a massive pain in the ass and you can only go up to 10 miles an hour and it disengages. It’s a Folk you heard it from the source. This truck is Ford ranger raptor is like a dream.

I think my biggest question with the Raptor is whether the 4A means it's transfer case is based off of clutch packs so when pushing it hard could the clutch pack heat up and disengage the 4WD. Or does it have both transfer case systems? I have seen videos of the ZR2, both Silverado and new Colorado, disengage 4WD even when in 4LOW or 4HI due to the clutch packs heating up (computer disengaging 4WD to preserve it). I would likely never push it close enough to heat the clutch pack to 4WD failure but some may.

Wish we had Tacoma down under in Australia. Or will the new Hilux look closer to this and bring some of that tech and 4x4 capability?
If I'm really shopping for a daily truck in this segment I think I'd be drawn to the Nissan Frontier Pro 4X. Locking rear, decent tire size and a simple NA V6. I had a previous gen and it was a reliable and entertaining daily.
The nissan 4wd system is really good.
When are we getting the Wildtrak?
Both trucks are nice, the Toyota finally updated most of its shortcomings, except the most important thing.. the front suspension is still lacking suspension travel, the ranger raptor has a lot of suspension travel, I’d rather see an option for a solid front axle in the toyota…

As someone who owned a Bronco and currently owns a Tacoma. I can tell you there's a huge difference in quality between Toyota and Ford. I would never own another Ford product again.
Ranger Raptor. There is no hybrid battery to damage off-roading, and I'll take that V6TT all day long.
I've already called at least 20 dealers. They charge between $10k and $15k markup above MSRP for both of these trucks. A few Ford dealers even tried to tell me that I had to pay them a pre-order charge on top of a normal order charge to hold the vehicle. For that price, I could get a fully loaded GMC AT4 or fully kit out a previous gen Tacoma with a T56 magnum, a 700hp LSX, racing seats, and an aftermarket Sony infotainment system. Dealers can suck a fat one. I'm sick of this.

@@elputoamo5686 yeah and when you start laying into the turbo 4 banger with a electric motor how long till your first 2500 repair? The Tacoma is no longer a bulletproof truck.
For anyone who is worried about the 4 cylinder turbo don’t be I have the nx 300 engines been amazing I live in Edmonton Alberta she cold starts and runs like a champ in -45 to +35 very it’s been very reliable 112k km no issues
Cant wait for the Next Generation Hilux in South Africa
Would love to get one for MSRP! LOL
Where do they put the batteries in the hybrid! That's the question.
Under the seats like the tundra
Interesting. The Ranger Raptor is rated at 405hp for the US ,Ariel, but is rated at 392hp in Australia.
In Europe its about 292, something about stricter laws for pollution, the engine makes different amounts in the Explorer and Bronco Raptor.
Yeah just emission laws. And I bet there’s still power to be unlocked in the American version.
@@the_mayo_jar1620 TFL had a video a few years back with 5Star and a tunned Explorer ST.
I think when they officially announced it, it came down to the way we talk about horsepower, because believe it or not, but there is metric horsepower and imperial horsepower. IIRC it’s about 2% different. That makes up for about 8hp, but it could also come down to the reliability of the dyno that these engines were first benched on. It’s easy to say that Ford in Michigan would have benched it, but we know these engines are fitted in Thailand and the vehicles come here. Perhaps it was a hot day, perhaps the dyno was slightly off. Perhaps the motor they used to bench it was a bit stiffer or was not operating at its absolute best; maybe 99% it’s best - that’s 4hp right there.
In reality, there’s almost certainly nothing in it. Sure it can be claimed the Americans get a higher number, but I’ll be the 0-100 pulls, and quarter mile times are all the same as ours.
At the end of the day, you can waste time wondering and imposing some unwarranted inadequacy upon yourself due to something you’ll never know is either a genuine difference or a circumstantial anomaly.
Enjoy your vehicle. I enjoy my Raptor every day.
TRD PRO ALL DAY!!!
The Dealership must mark these trucks up . Might as well make a profit off customers who have to be first to have . There’s gonna be folks willing pay these markups
I own a 2022 Tacoma. At the same price, it’d be the Ranger raptor for sure.
The inside of the Tacoma looks so much nicer IMO
For $60k I’d rather save $15k and buy a used 2nd gen raptor with 35k miles. Have more power, bigger tires, better options, more towing, better suspension, and pocket $15k.
I want my Gladiator interior, the Colorado exterior, and the Toyota drive train. Is that doable for $60K?
I love the look on these trucks but a $1,000 plus vehicle payment is just insane, my mortgage isn't even that much.
The rubber belt driving the oil pump in the Raptor is a no go for me. Sorry Farley.
I'm leaning towards the Ranger Raptor!!!
ZR2 for $50k over both of these!
The new TRD Pro Tacoma is the best looking truck imo. I want the 4Runner version soooo bad
4Runner version? They're not even out yet man.
