    ------------
    In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
    Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

    And I think Ed struggling with the order while reciting richard of york... proves Greg wrong and that Roy G. Biv is the much better mnemonic. With Roy G. Biv you also get all the color information within 3 syllables. 3 syllables will only get you red and orange the other way.

    Now that we've discussed Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain as compared with ROY-G-BIV, let's not forget the even earlier spectrum mnemonic: Randy Old Yob Gives Birth In Vitro. I think it first appeared in Chaucer.

    Why would any adult need a mnemonic to remember a simple fucking rainbow? like even if it weren't such a simple order the colors blend into each other anyway due to basic color theory, like unless you're severely colorblind this should be something you should be more than capable of by elementary school, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

    • @BlackParade727
      @BlackParade727 ปีที่แล้ว

      @noname-vf1ft sorta, but not quite. It's kinda helpful to have an acronym but usually there needs to be something else like a rhyme, a song (abc's for example), phrase, etc that helps you remember the acronym for it to be mnemonic. Like in math you can either just remember PEMDAS and hope the acronym is memerable enough or you can say Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally.

    I still don't get why people need a mnemonic to come up with the rainbow's colors. The visible light spectrum is neighbored by ultraviolet and infrared. That should tell you that violet is on one end and red is on the other. Then it's just color associations. Red is similar to orange, which is similar to yellow. Violet is basically purple, which is similar to blue. Between yellow and blue there's green, from kindergarten education, and you're done.

    • @GnomaPhobic
      @GnomaPhobic ปีที่แล้ว +10

      He was the last English monarch to die in battle, at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485. It led to the end of the Wars of the Roses and the rise of the Tudor dynasty. Thus pretty important in English history, but less relevant for those of us in the colonies.
