This scenario reminds me of the math questions in school. "What is the minimal amount of breadsticks that it will it take to push a 2000g watermelon up a 45 degree angle slope if each breadstick can withstand 50g of pressure without snapping? Show all your work (worth 5 point)"
Are we to assume the slope is frictionless? If so: Sin(45)*2000g/50g = .851*40=34.036 breadsticks. If the slope is non frictionless, I will need the coefficient of friction

I reckon ed touched the melon as much as rose - once when lifting it back on the slide and again when he stopped it falling off 5:40, and even said he was in trouble
I'll never understand someone who doesn't bother finding out what a show they've agreed to appear on is actually about. Unless he was given the offer and accepted and then put into the studio with only a moment's notice, he had time to watch even just 1 episode.

@@Tao_TologyI feel the same way, but I think the main reason for that is I wouldn't want to be caught out and make an ass of myself; but when you think about it, a willingness to make an ass of oneself is probably part of the reason these people are on TV in the first place. There's probably a lesson in there somewhere.
Also couldn't help but notice they let air touch it as well. I'm with you, as soon as the task started, they should have disqualified everyone. That would have been the best decision for this silly tv show.

Take two breadsticks, break them in half. You now have 4 pieces, but only two breadsticks were used. Using your thumb and first two fingers on each hand put pressure on the two pieces against the side of the melon (long ways). You now have four points of contact on the sides of the melon, but your hands are only touching breadsticks. Slowly and carefully lift the melon and toss it in the window. Don't miss.
I might be taking this too literally, but the task specifically says 'you may not adjust the slide'. It does not say 'the slide may not be adjusted'. So I would've just asked Alex to lift the slide until it was level with caravan and used a single breadstick to get it to casually roll in 😂

If I have a breadstick and I eat half and then my friend eats the other half did we both eat a whole breadstick each? No because we would of needed two breadsticks to do that and we only had one. So I only ate half a bread stick. Why would it be any different for using breadsticks to push a watermelon up a slide?

Since they had access to things like tape, why not use something like a wire and tape to reinforce the breadsticks and use the bready ends to push it up the slide?
Well, that did occur to David, but only after the melon was on the floor and he couldn't figure out how to get the melon back on to the slide. 😂 I've come to realise that the first rule of the "use the least amount of x to achieve y" tasks is you have to immediately decide how many to sacrifice, and then hope you can achieve the task with that amount. You cannot start with the absolute minimum.

I feel like you should just sit down and start watching the show with them. From the start of a season. If you want them to get into taskmaster then you need to properly show it to them.
I say any task from series 4. They're simple and fun with a great cast, so it's a good way to ease them into the absolute madness that is in some of the other series
update: i showed them a lot of ones i thought were hilarious and they quite literally said “oh thank god” when i shut it off so i guess this is just my guilty pleasure show 😭😭
Only breadsticks was allowed to touch the melon, so the hammer was not allowed to touch it either. Only way to smash the melon would be with breadsticks
It wasn't till watching this video that I thought: why not raise the bottom of the slide so that it's still a slope upwards, but a much shallower one That way you're still pushing the melon up a slope.
I wonder if you could've just lifted the bottom of slide up and rolled the melon in that way? Doesn't seem very well connected. Edit: Nevermind, I just saw the rule "you may not adjust the slide."
There is a loophole. Get Alex or someone else to lift the slide up with the melon. The task said you can't adjust the slide meaning anyone else can. Also, I probably would have figured out a way to cover the melon with breadsticks and did it that way instead of putting them on my hand.

To get my cup to overflow with only liquids touching the red green, I simply changed red (portion of the) green to yellow, by staining it with paint. My friend was able to move the caravan closer and then be careful enough to not spill a drop. It took patience, attentive thought, and stellar balance though. I wrapped the mouth a funnel to the balloon. I did this with 50 balloons. I got 3 balloons near the pan. 2 full eggs landed in the frying pan. I got the relay blocker to skip the bottom person in the soccer scoring task from series 12. I read the task before Alex could put paint in my hat. I was then careful and followed all of the rules. I made a diamond shape with my breast sticks as to strengthen their force and stability when I pushed the watermelon up the slide.

I'm of the opinion that the slide touched the melon for all contestants. And as the slide is not a breadstick they should all have been disqualified.

Every melon that fell off the slide touched the ground and so should have been disqualified. It was a very badly worded test
I would have tried to lift the slide and had the watermelon roll in with 0 breadsticks.
Since David Baddiel is a melon, I'd imagine that Alex prodding him up the slide with a breadstick would've won him the task
