It's a shame Jason wasn't born 10-15 years earlier. His programs would have definitely won him an Olympic gold and several world championships in 2006-2010...
Completely agree. I've heard other skaters and commentators say the same thing. If he'd been skating a few years prior to the surge in quad jumps - he'd have been unbeatable. Everything he does, is done better than anyone else.
Somehow is is from previous generation. Training technique was different. Also he started figure skating in late age also. With such result is already amazing
jason is fantastic, superb figure skater. he has so much finesse, style, i could go on and on. he always has the audience with him when he skates. sometimes too much is placed on jumps and instead should be the art of figure skating, the movements , the flow. keep going Jason!
Jason Brown has improved but stayed with his female coach too many years. He needs to be held back from the Olympics as he won't be on the podium nohow. He has competed a lot but that does not mean he will produce when needed. He hould have turned pro and taught for now. No great male coaches around as they are banned from skating. I hope he has a happy experience.
@@sunnyshores7520 Sure...hold Jason back from the Olympics and send a kid that has absolutely no senior international experience and have the international judges rip him apart. They tried that experiment with Polina Edmunds back in 2014 and it ruined her forever! USFSA has strict criteria set up now and Ilia Malanin does not meet it, and fortunately USFSA learned a valuable lesson. Stop sending these kids to senior international events without experience and ending their careers. If Nathan or Vincent should, heaven forbid get Covid while in China, I don't want to see them trot out the 17 year old in the team event and expect him to hold the team up.
I have never seen or heard any performance- on stage, on the screen, on ice - that was as creative as this short program by Jason Brown. I am in awe and appreciate his ability to feel this music and present it to us in such a graceful, athletic way. Yay! You made my 2022 Olympics, Jason!
The fluidity of motion he has, the way he floats and articulates every move, the way he has countless musical accents, I would rather see that than 5 clean quads any day.
100 percent agree. Literally there is no human I would rather watch execute their craft than Jason Brown. But the rules are against him. There should be an Individual Ice Dancing category. He could dominate that for another decade I bet!
For you Jason under-appreciators, did you not notice the audience’s reaction and the standing “O”? People who go to Nationals know figure skating - and they understand what a treasure Jason is to the sport and ART that is figure skating.
I really think Jason Brown's skating is better than all of the other men around the world. He puts on a show as a total package demonstrating amazing flexibility. If he landed quads, no one would be able to keep up with him for 1st place.
If he did quads, he wouldn't be the same skater he currently is. Those who do 4-5 quads do not have the energy or space to be doing all those transitions because there are longer set-ups and conservation of energy needed in order to execute the quads. They're not easy to do. Ask Jason. He's had almost a decade to try to learn and can't even do one.
Oh Wow Bravo Jason !!!! aside from technical merits this was the best performance today. He's skating to Nina Simone guys ! it calls for maturity in reaching to the depth of emotions and reason why you're dancing. He should go to the Oly. no matter the placement
One of the most stand-out performances from all figure skating events this Olympics. Breathtaking, dynamic and heartfelt. Excellent choice in music, too. Where is the NBC Sports videography of this on YT?? Please help me find it!
I would love to come see you perform. Maybe someday. That was an incredible performance and I enjoyed it more than Chens performances...and you are so darn Handsome!
To me, one the most astonishing S.P. in Figure Skating history. So inspired, emotional, original in moves and rithm, it's artistically complete and so well conceived and executed. Bravo bravo bravo Jason, you'll always deserve a podium!
This is one of the best choreographed short programs ever made. I would love to see Chen or Zhou skate to this exact program. Never happen but I can only imagine.
My daily dose of Jason Brown’s artistry and pure joy on the ice! He does my heart good always. He is unique in his view of what he does. He’s an inspiration, always. 🌹💕
Beautiful. Superhuman (how can a mortal spin like that?) The last 30 seconds is hands down the best skating performance I have ever seen. I keep this video handy and watch for a mood lift when I am feeling low energy. I am overjoyed that he made the Olympic Team. I am looking forward to Jason Brown's performances more than any other winter Olympic moment this year.
The way I see things, this skate by Jason was 1st place, not 4th place. I wish more people could see his skating through my eyes !! FANTASTIC job, Jason :--) !!
I am so, so glad to get to watch a performance like this! It was electric from the first moment-- and it sounds like the audience thought so too. That roar from the stands a full 15 seconds before the program was over!!!
This guy is so fabulous haha its glorious and awesome. Who he is, what he wants to say, and how fabulous he is just comes through so powerfully in the way he dances on the ice and in his art. The definition of embracing who you are to the fullest.
It That was a fourth place performance I can only imagine what first looks like! There is no way that should’ve been in fourth place! That was amazing!
Don't you love it when the crowd stands before the program is over. This angle really shows how much faster Jason is than Ilia. Love them both but, Ilia will have his time in the sun.
Not since Sasha Cohen (looking at skaters from the 21st century) has there been a skater, on both male and female side, who is this natural and dramatic at performing on ice, AND skate with such perfect body lines. It’s this kind of artistry that the current figure skating world is lacking.
Beautiful skating but sending him to the Olympics over Ilia is just stupid. As beautiful as this is, there is no way he is going to be on or near the podium without a quad. If we had sent Ilia, we actually had a shot at having an American sweep at the Olympics of Nathan, Ilia, and Vincent. There are big hitters at the Olympics. I am guessing Jason will end up 10th or even lower.
Well he was amazing at the Olympics. Scores 6th but had the second highest component score of the entire field. One of only 3 men who skated two clean programs.
@@MsAMusicLover yeah, could not have skated more perfectly. But still only 6th. If 6th is the goal for the U.S. Olympic committee, then they got what they were hoping for. If Ilia was sent and if Vincent didn’t get Covid, it was possible to have an all American sweep. That should have been the goal in my opinion, not sending someone who no matter what he does cannot get better than 6th.
@@shalom968 Sure, or Vincent could have spazzed out like he sometimes does and Ilian could have had the lowest PCS of the field. Who knows? Skating is an unpredictable sport. Those two will have their chance at Worlds to show us by getting on that podium! Believe me, I am rooting for them (even though I would rather watch Jason skate any day).
@@kassidynickerson3750 Ummm... in case you didnt know this is a sport not ballet. You need a quad to even get on the podium. I hope they dont waste an olympic spot on brown.
The sport is called “figure skating” not “figure jumping.” The world of figure skating seems to focus much more on the quad jump then on skating skills which is unfortunate. As quads are becoming more and more common, it’s becoming more exciting to come across a skater like Jason who connects with the audience using his unique movements and expressions on the ice. Watching someone skate back and forth and hit quad after quad is amazing, yes. The strength it takes to complete those elements is incredible. however, we sometimes lose the artistic side of the sport. Don’t forget, that all jumps take less than a second and these programs that are being skated are much longer than a minute. Much of the program is made up of connecting steps, and spins. So judging a performance solely on the jumping passes does not seem fair. Sorry that was long :)
@@michaelkensington2494 Yeah, it's a sport that encompasses ALL aspects technical and program component. As a figure skater, I know.
