Nathan Chen is amazing and his quads are spectacular, but for me Jason Brown is still the greatest skater of his generation and one of the greatest of all time. His pure skating skills are unsurpassed -- his jumping technique and the quality of his jumps, his edges, his lines, his spins, his interpretation of the music -- he is perfection. I'll take his skating over any of the quad-filled programs any day.
I have watched this many times, and tonight I had chills and saw what he was saying in interpreting that particular music. Each movement’s meaning flowed, and the stain red over his heart bleeding. I’m so glad I watched it again. He skated with inspiration.
Scott Hamilton said it best, no one can touch Jason when it comes to his artistry. You'll never find someone like Jason again, not unless the scoring system changes and allows skaters like him to be competitive.
In terms of showmanship and interpretation, Jason Brown is by far the best. His performance, not just the technical elements, but his relation to the music and his understanding of the program is unparalleled. This is what skating is about, sure it’s a sport, but it’s also a show.
I LOVE NATHAN and he deserved the gold but this routine will always give me chills. Before the quad revolution, JASON WOULD HAVE BEEN A MULTIPLE WORLD CHAMPION. Love you Jason, you are AMAZING!!
@@angiemaniaciskatingfan723 OMG. In the 90s Jason would have wrecked the figure skating world and won ALL the titles. No one would beat him. He'd be a multiple Olympic gold medalist.
7:53 Yuzuru knows what’s up. Jason was phenomenal at the Olympics. It’s too bad the scoring system is the way it is. I grew up watching Michelle Kwan and going back watching her competition videos gives me chills. I miss the days when skating used to make you feel something. Jason’s programs were the highlight of the games for me
I feel the same. There's way too much emphasis on jumps. I fell in love with skating by watching skaters like Jason skate. Everything he does is first rate. He doesn't need quads, but the sport is always pushing these young skaters to do jump after jump. I'd much rather see artistic expression and connection to the music. Jason is exquisite on the ice.
I agree ! I think Jason's artistry is unmatched ! I watched the whole thing spellbound and the last time that happened was during Yuzuru Hanyu's Simei program and Tessa and Scott's Moulin Rouge program !
Both of them were training under coach Brian. This is Jason's third time in Olympic games same as Yuzu. I am so happy for Jason for he earned overall in the 6th place. I read that he says it was so hard for him between his first Olympic game back in 2014 as the over 6th and this time, in 2022 for he got lost somewhere in between. Nice to see him back!
What a musical and emotional program! I really love to watch figure skaters try quad jumps, but his skating always moves our heart. Figure skating is art... This is what we've waited long time. Big love from Japan! ジェイソン、これからも素敵なスケートを楽しみにしています💕
I never thought I would see a Schindler’s list program that moved me more than Yulia’s, but this did. No, he doesn’t have a quad, but his skating skills are superior and he draws you in with his artistry that you just can’t look away. And knowing that he is Jewish just makes the program even more emotional
The fact that he is in 6th place without doing quads is what's amazing. All the guys ahead of him did quads and just the fact that his overall beautiful full package skating got him there is like amazing!
@@benjaminccaohe would actually lose 1.3 points had he tripled the double-toe. His repeated jumps were the 3A and 3F. Had he repeated a 3T, the 2nd 3T would be invalid.
This gave me all of the feels watching it again! I don’t know what USFSA did to convince Jason to compete at US nationals in 2023, but I’m excited to see him compete at least one more time. His skating ability is *chef’s kiss*. Certainly the best of any skater currently representing US men. And still among the top singles skaters in the world.
This performance moves my heart and makes me cry. His skating is not programmed but truly with the music and great artistic interpretation✨✨✨ Absolutely gorgeous and flawless✨✨✨✨✨
Patrick Chan has always been my favorite skater for artistry but Jason Brown blows him away. The absence of quads ( which he can actually do…they just aren’t consistent enough for the Olympics) isn’t even noticeable because his ability to “Perform” is so stunning and the Triple Axels are simply some of the best because he works so hard on them to make them huge and flawless. I absolutely believe he deserved at least the bronze . The only way to properly reward artistry the way it should be rewarded is to make the Artistic Impression mark 60% of the score and the Technical Marks worth 40% ….had that been the case he absolutely would have medaled.
I think that single figure skating (both men's and ladies') needs to be split into 2 disciplines: 1) an ACTUAL skating - with choreography, beautiful moves and body lines, rotations, a little bit of acting and, maybe, a few jumps (1-2 for SP and 2-3 for LP); 2) ice jumping - which will be all about jumps.
Yes, agree, figure skating and ice jumping. Then those fellow can race to jump as many jumps as they can like Trusovo. No need to worry about artistry 😉
Jason, your performance lived up to the beauty of the haunting music by John Williams. I don’t know a higher compliment I can give you. Congratulations on your amazing career. ❤
6th place at the Olympics with a triple double! Just illustrates the quality of his skating. And what an occasion to have your best skate to a program.
This is absolutely beautiful! Years ago Paul Wylie skated to Schindler's list. It is just as beautiful. He is also such an artistic skater as well. He was in the Era of the great men skaters with Brian Boitano and Brian Orser.
Wow!! Thank you for uploading free skate too! 🥺 Beautiful performance💕⛸ I love his skating! This is textbook-like skating! Beautiful,I’ve always wanted to see his skating forever So artistic ✨
You could see what the music and the theme it represented meant to Jason personally as well as an artist. It shined through the choreography as well as in the expression on his face at the beginning of the skate, as well as his eyes as he stood up from the performance. He was satisfied that he had interpreted it to his satisfaction and was proud. 🥹🥹🥹🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕💕💕

Jason Brown is ALL TIME FAVORITE . many male skaters come accross as flamboyant or like Chen, fem. In stature. JBrown.... Is ARTISTIC & STRONG masculinity counts in men's sport
I find the quad revolution so sad because it makes artistic skaters unable to compete with the quad-jumping skaters. Nathan Chen’s quads are amazing, but Jason Brown has unparalleled artistry that should realistically give him 10-15 more points than the other male skaters in PCS.
They should have 2 Competitions now One for artistic and one for tech with quads as the older competitors can't really do the quads like the younger ones. Jason is one of the most beautiful artistic skaters.
The problem with figure skating is you get more score when you can do more jumps and not artistry so no matter how classy your performance is not gonna cut it at all and that’s what’s missing in this program
I'm curious...why was his last spin downgraded? Maybe someone with more knowledge can enlighten me. :) Jason will always be one of my favorite skaters of all time.
When will the skating world ever realize the artistry of Jason's skating. To heck with a quad. Watching Jason is worth more...a world of gold.

Sorry I find Joshua Farris to be an even more artistically gifted skater than Jason. Too bad his injuries are unsustainable.
Nathan Chen shows men's ice skating. And leave women's skating to the girls.
