One of the reasons Fraser left Hollywood was due to all the injuries he took during the Mummy films. The filmmakers and the studio were really not protecting their star and had a lot of ridiculously dangerous conditions (like actually hanging him by his neck) which resulted in lifelong injuries for him and a lot of medical interventions and surgeries. His daughter also had serious medical issues and he was blacklisted for speaking out about a sexual assault by an industry bigwig. Fraser was always a great performer, universally loved by fans and reported to be just a super nice guy, so that’s why a lot of people were really rooting for him to have a successful comeback now that he’s dipped his toe back into public life.

I have a very fond childhood memory of my mom picking me up from school, taking me out to lunch, and then seeing The Mummy afterward in the middle of the week. That was completely far removed from my routine of taking the school bus to my grandma's house and then waiting for one of my parents to pick me up after they got off of work. Now that my mother is gone that's a memory I will always cherish.

This was all a cover, where he took me to theaters to watch movie Blade. I had no idea about this plan until he picked me. Became one of a favorite movies because of this.

"Blast From The Past" is a really good one.
It`s about bomb shelters and 60`s 70`s and 80`s life ,while a boy goes from infant to a 35 year old man , set loose on LA in the 90`s.

One thing I like about The Mummy is that it doesn't try to be deep and overly nuanced. It's entertaining, makes you laugh, keeps you in suspense... exactly what most people go to the movies for. A popcorn flick. Great series for Brendan Fraser. I would also recommend you watch him in Encino Man. Another fun movie worth repeat watchings.

Funny enough he also had a small bit part in Pauly Shores "In the Army now" as a soldier. When you look at his name plate in the scene you will notice it says Link, which was the name Pauly Shore gave him in the movie Encino Man.

Winston knew he was gonna die and most likely wanted to. He has this super endearing subplot. He said how he wanted to go down with all the other lads in the air instead of sitting around dying of boredom and booze.
So a rescue mission to save the world felt like just the right calling.
And when they were in the storm he yelled "here I come ladies!" Before laughing he was talking to his fallen mates. And died with a smile on his face.
Also idk if you noticed I feel like you must of because you kept in the edited cut. But they took Benny's camel, the one with all the treasure on it.

I like Kabir, but he seems to miss a lot of what's going on in his reactions. Not sure if it's real or not, but if it is, it's pretty funny how lost he gets at even the simple stuff. haha

    • @arcanask
      @arcanask ปีที่แล้ว

@@LA_HA It happens with people that stream or shoot a lot of videos. It's called streamer brain. Needless to say it's very informal.

    • @LA_HA
      @LA_HA ปีที่แล้ว

@@arcanask Huh. I guess that's possible because of the nature of streaming. If you were a film critic on TV back in the day (like Siskel and Ebert), you'd shoot a segment to discuss 2-4 films every week. But, actually Reacting to 2-4 entire films (on Patreon) for people to view is more difficult to do.
Still, as unpopular an idea as it is with a lot of people, it Is true that some people are simply better at it than others. I'm sure you watch other reactors that aren't so lost when they watch movies, even though they have the same schedule.
I'm not putting him down. I find it funny. It's part of the reason I watch his channel because he seems more like a regular guy than a professional TH-camr. So, no offense was meant. I just comment sometimes when it's particularly funny.
I've never heard of that condition before, so thank you for telling me about it. Makes sense.

The Mummy is one of my favorite movies. I love Rachel Weisz as the brainy, beautiful leading lady, Brendan Fraser as the adventurous man of action, and Arnold Vosloo as the chief villain. Also, they got the mummification practices correct when Evelyn described how ancient Egyptians removed people's brains, save for ONE omitted detail: when the red-hot poker went into the nostril, they punched a hole in the back of the skull of the deceased person to allow the brain to be drained through the nasal cavity. And I always get jumpscared when Jonathan is toying around in that damned sarcophagus. No matter how many times I've seen the movie.

But omg, I grew up with his movies! Blast From The Past, Mummy & Mummy Returns (we don't talk about 3), Bedazzled, Journey To The Center Of The Earth, Monkeybone, Gods and Monsters, George of The Jungle, Encino Man!!! The Mummy didn't jumpstart his movie career, it just made him an A-list leading, comedic actor. Half of these movies I listed came before The Mummy. Also, Rachel Weisz is married to Daniel Craig (007) since 2011. Fun fact: The actor that plays Benny, was also the caterer boyfriend in Steel Magnolias. The sequel is even better!!!!!

This is more of Fraser's peak, but is universally adored so it makes a good intro. To go back to his beginning - Encino Man, with Sean Astin and Pauly Shore
He does a bunch of fun comedies through the nineties (Airheads, George of the Jungle, Blast From The Past, etc), as well as a few serious pieces (School Ties, Gods and Monsters, With Honors). He rides a good wave until the sequel, Mummy Returns, but after the third his career takes a hit due to being blacklisted (Google will tell you more) and he kind of slid into the background until recently.
I'm glad to see him getting the recognition he deserves.

There's 3 Mummy movies - Brandon really hurt his back for the 3rd and forced him to take the next few years off. He had his start as a stunt man, so when he became a star he was one of the few purists who did his own stunts. He's been a movie star since 1990, but The Mummy was a blockbuster so it's the most talked about. I grew up watching him in Blast From The Past, George of the Jungle, Encino Man, Bedazzled.

Kabir, there was a sequel called "The Mummy Returns" that included the acting debut of "The Rock". He played a character called the "The Scorpion King" and then he starred in a spin off movie called "The Scorpion King". I think I remember both of those movies as decent but not memorable. I don't even remember what they were about. Whereas I still remember what happened in the first "Mummy". In not saying don't see the sequel because I think I remember Brendan Frasier was really good in both movies but you can probably take your time getting around to it.

Brendan Fraser has always been a favorite of mine. Great comedic action actor. Check out any of his old movies. He’s in Doom Patrol now.

He was a huge star before "The Mummy" check out "Encino Man" or "With Honors" for his earlier work. Encino is a comedy and Honors is a drama.

Rachel's white dress became see-through when she came out of the water and CGI had to be used to fix it (much to my disappointment lol).
The music in this movie is fantastic. To the point where whenever I watch a documentary on Ancient Egypt, I hear this music.

Yep, this is a great movie and I really enjoyed your reaction to it. It's definitely one of my favorite movies. I very much enjoyed the sequel "The Mummy Returns" as well.
If you love this first movie you will most likely enjoy the sequel. There are three movies in all but I personally didn't enjoy the third movie very much. Brendan Fraser is still great, but I just didn't like the overall story of the third movie as much as I did the first two.

Oh man, if you want to check out a really great film of Brendon’s, you gotta watch Blast from the Past. It’s worth it for the dance scene alone. The movie is about a family that locked themselves in an underground bomb shelter after a misunderstanding makes the father think nuclear war broke out. Brendon is born in the shelter and, as a young man, has to go back into the world for supplies. So imagine a guy with 1950s values and ideas suddenly cast into the chaos of the modern world. It also stars Alicia Silverstone, Christopher Walken and Sissy Spacek. So wholesome.
Also check him out in -Journey to the Center of the Earth
    -George if the Jungle
    -Bedazzled
    -School Ties
-Encino Man (a frozen caveman defrosted in modern day. Hilarious!)

My late wife Debbie and I viewed this one upon its original theatrical release, and since I currently own the DVD trilogy (including the Tom Cruise version and all of the 1930s through '50s franchise issues), this probably bewrays my very strong interest in the entire series. Debs worked for a time @ a CPA firm in which Brendan Fraser was a client and she acquired his autograph right around the time this film was issued, so that's one of my inherited (and somewhat prized) possessions of hers.

Not sure if you noticed but they did end up with some treasure at the end, because they took Benny's camel, which he had loaded down with treasure before he went for more. There is a sequel, The Mummy Returns (2001), and yes, it actually is worth watching. I enjoyed it almost as much as the first one. But then stop there. They made a third movie in 2008, but they couldn't get Rachel Weisz back so they replaced her with another actress and the chemistry wasn't there. People didn't want another Evie. They should have tried harder to get her back. They also went in another direction with the story and it was overly complicated and the movie didn't have the "we're just having fun" feeling of the first two movies. It took itself too seriously. The CG effects weren't very good either. In the first two films, excepting one scene in the second film that most people overlook, the CG was pretty good for its time. But by the time the third film came out in 2008, they didn't want to spend as much money I guess, and it was a bit unimpressive for an audience of that time which was by then used to amazing effects.
