bro i was about to sell my monitor on ebay and go look for a new one because all the other videos were telling me it wouldn’t support it, but you made it so simple and helped a lot! thanks!
If you want 4K at 120 Hz, you need to buy a display that can do that. The display needs to have an HDMI 2.1 port on it. But those cost around $600-$1000 as of right now. I would personally buy a 1440p, 144Hz monitor with an HDMI 2.0 port on it. A 27” monitor at 1440p still looks amazing. Just make sure the monitor has that 2.0 port, and it’s at least 120 Hz :)

Does series s support 120hz with 1440?
@@lovesimp I’m 99% sure it does. I have done this with the Series X (1440p @ 120HZ), so the Series S should be able to do it just fine. Although it won’t look as great because the GPU power in a Series S is a bit weaker than the Series X. However, if you’re playing an FPS game, all you need are the frames, not graphic fidelity 👍🏻

if you have an old LG W2363D 120hz PC monitor, don't use a HDMI to DVI dual link cable. use the HDMI cable that came with the xbox and plug it into HDMI port 1 on the monitor side. it's only HDMI 1.4, but it definitely works with 120hz, surprisingly

Simply put... no, 4k panels introduce additionally latency when using 1080p. It requires more time (processing) to scale down from 4k to 1080p. leave it at 4k. If you have an older 1080p then by all means run 1080p 120, otherwise wait till you get a 4k/120hz HDMI 2.1TV.
I’m using a brand new, high refresh rate gaming monitor at 1080p
Xbox games are only 60 hertz anyway so best to use 1440p at 60 hertz

i was on a call with an xbox support agent for 30 minutes, and they kept telling me it was the monitors fault and to call the monitor company. i was fed up until i found this video. you are a life saver.
Just because it says 120hz doesn't mean it's actually doing it. You need a fps counter .. ran into games that are not running at that refresh rate even though it supports it

everytime i switch it to 120hz my monitor says entering pover save mode and it just stays on 60hz but my monitor runs 144hz

Is 1080p at 120hz good?
Yes, 2160p or 4K is very nice looking, but 1080p at 120hz is crisp. You really only need 1080p but the higher the frames the better the gameplay feels.

The good part is that works with some budget 4k tv that "don't support 120hz"!! You do this but you would have to stick with 1080p. Good for series S on competitive games.

To get the full experience you need a 4K tv with a 4 port hdmi selection and go to the 4 th hdmi port then access 4K and vrr and you’ll get the full capacity of your tv and Xbox

It’s because of the HDMI cord your using. HDMI 2.0 which I assume your using is the one that came with the Xbox . It only supports 1440p on 60fps and only 1080p on 120 FPS or more
