Drag Week 2017 - Day 4 Highlights!

- Coverage from Hot Rod’s "Drag Week 2017” continues with ride alongs and driver check ins, as they make their way from Byron Dragway in Illinois, to Union Grove, Wisconsin! Creeping up on the last few days of Drag Week 2017, those racers who haven’t fallen victim to failed parts an broken spirits find themselves staging in the lanes of Great Lakes Dragway! Being only one 1/4 mile pass away from heading back to Cordova where this trek began, most racers find themselves tired but still in good spirits! One of our favorite things about this event is that the people are just incredible, regardless what obstacles they seem to encounter. Stay tuned for the final day of Drag Week 2017 Highlights!

that wintermint green 1972 Nova in the background of the hotel shot is my favorite car of DW. It's the same dude (with help) that replaced an engine on the side of the road in Fowler Colorado during Rocky mtn raceweek 2016.

@:36 is #team260 member Nick Taylor. He busted his ass trying to stay in. 2 blown motors, a cracked oil pan, a flex plate break. Those guys are some of the nicest guys you're ever going to meet in the racing world. #team260 are some some hardcore racers, they don't quit and they have each others back.

My husband will be in dragweek 2019 64 Plymouth it's a real hemi car 809.8hp on pumpgas 4speed car but now it has a 528CI hemi from Ray Barton. Can't wait till then and we are from Wisconsin Da grove is where we race and WIR to.

The only thing I wanted to see more of is the Geo tracker. That thing is a beast! Not the fastest, but still super impressive. You should do a video on just that tracker.

Every time I watch one of these I wonder to myself how many of them get pulled over for noise, etc. The cops are probably like "man, I can get this guy for SOMETHING I just know it"
Yea, rite. I once got 5 tickets sitting still at a red light in SLC at 7 AM He said the tires were illegal ,Was too loud, green tinted fog lights(?), tail light out (1 of 4) , didn't use the turn signal (in a turning lane) Yea I wonder the same thing.

Is there a minimum ETA you have to achieve to qualify for Drag Week? Could you turn up in a "daily driver", with a trailer full of spares, and just cane it down the strip, haul the distance between check points, and soak up the atmosphere as a "Competitor" even though you'd come out lowest of the finishers in your class? (A chance to be ahead of the dropouts with faster cars because yours was more reliable on the road?)...Just "asking for a friend" of course....

cjbeast1998 I would imagine that some of them are safer than stock new cars. They are built to keep the drivers alive at high speeds

That's really impressive. I would love to see some footage of it running.
I think it's in one of the other days highlights, you could also skim through the Live feed replays and try to find it but that's like 6 1/2 hours of video for each day lol. It looks even more ridiculous on the track because he puts 15's with drag radials on the rear and leaves the 26's on the front.
