- Day 3 of Drag Week did NOT disappoint! This is when the road trip really starts taking a toll on cars! We get a couple stories from racers describing their troubles including George and his Tesla! We were surprised to hear that one! One racer even showed up only 10 minutes before the deadline and completed his pass just two minutes before he had to drop out! AND obviously a ton of awesome passes!

He’s an incredibly good mechanic and an ultra-passionate gearhead. Kenton has been inspecting my cars here in PA for the past 6 years of my life, and he’s unbelievably thorough. I’m really happy to see him here on 1320 with the build he’s been talking about for quite some time, especially because he kept the twin-engine thing under wraps for an entire TH-cam video 😂

That's right! It's NOT about "George" and his stock POS Tesla with a stripped out interior- that goes completely against the spirit of the competition. Long live the innovators like the van man- they are what it's all about

That car is a darn gem. Id enjoy cruising around in that thing any day all day.
He said he drove it like 8000 miles last year? If i remember right. It was in the live feed. Apparently his grandfather bought it brand new! Every so often he has to oil the top end of the air cooled engine. The bottom end is a pressurized oil system but not the rockers and top end. The thing is just rad.
@@brandonb8543 i saw one at a museum on a work trip to florida a few years back. I spent more time than i should have drooling over all the mechanical aspects of it.

He’s limited to an 8.50 because he doesn’t have enough roll cage for anything faster. If he goes faster than 8.50 it’s an automatic 20 sec pass

Best part is that the guys at 1320 put Benny in his knickers at 13:20.

@@nordic5490 I got persuaded to work the tower as the announcer at a local track. Guess cause I used to do some radio and own car magazine. Bracket racin was killer tryin to tell who was comin to the line while givin the times for the two that just made a pass. Did NOT have time for chit chat. The folks that do it full time must really like to hear themselves....just about have to. I ain't one of em and like Dirty Harry said, "Man's got to know his limitations", so I ain't tried it again. No disrespect but some of em need to take a break now and then. Did talk em into transmitting on FM radio frequency so the racers could hear.....if they wanted to.

We need to tweet Elon and Tesla and let them know what George is doing for them, electric may not be the future of Motorsport(for now), but it is the future and will help preserve the oil burners so we can enjoy events like these forever
Why? It totally goes against the spirit of the competition. He shouldn't even be there. For years Freiburger refused to let them compete. He needs to go back to that mindset. Anyone can rock up in a stock POS "car" and compete without any issues- but that's not what DW is all about. I hope it burns to the ground...

I am looking forward to being able to spectate drag week when i move coasts. I don't have it in me to participate (to physically demanding for me). However I believe the tracks and event staff can always use some additional help. So why not help things keep moving. Help run little errands for people. Just generally be a good person and make new friends!

That's why I keep a patch and plug kit with a 12v compressor in my truck.
I keep them plug kit and compressor in all my vehicles as well. My work Truck has tires made out of plugs.

I used to be skeptical but Project Farm did a video comparing a bunch of different fix-a-flat spray cans and they actually are pretty cool they really work and can plug up a hole in a tire for good so fast and easy.

But they didn't almost kick anyone out tho. Tesla dude thought he was just going to have to get a tow which would then force him to dq himself but he figured out the rim in the backseat hit an inertia sensor he rebooted and was fine.
While it's still not a kickout, there was also the last car that made their run with 3 minutes to spare. Would have been a DQ rather than the boot though, so yeah.

Ok, because people keep asking, NO you can’t go anywhere and patch that tire, for liability reasons they can NOT patch anything in the should or anywhere near the sidewall. Yes they COULD have patched it themselves if they had a patch or plug kit, but you might as well buy a new tire when you got the money.. Hope that answers some questions for you non mechanics out there.

Christian Graham tyres are already an environmental problem, from the contructruction to the disposal of them. It would be a total waste of resources not to plug that tyre. That nail was nowhere near the shoulder anyhow, and plugging on the actual shoulder is not the safety issue you think it is. Don't drink the tyre industries cool aid.
A very typical scam by a tyre shop is; You take a tyre in to get fixed, they take it of the rim, then they ring you to tell you they cannot legally refit it the tyre because it is on or below the wear indicators and needs to be repaced, then they convince you that your other tyres should be replaced at the same time as they are worn also, and that you should replace all 4 tyres at tbe same time. You went in for a punture repair, and it cost you 4 new tyres. This is a 100% cynical money grabbing scam.
Or, you could have plugged the tyre on the car your self. I spent years surveying in remote outback Australia, and there is no way that tyre would not have been repaired.
Nor Dic first of all, if it’s at the wear bars, for stopping distance and hydro planning and pure performance, the tires should be replaced anyway. 🙃 and we recycle our tires at our shop... and if the patch is too close to the shoulder and doesn’t lay flat on the inside of the tire it, with the stress of turning and rolling the sidewall over it can leak. Most of the time it’s fine but people used to patch those all the time. As in shops... then there were enough legal suits to make it a liability issue for all tire shops or mechanics. If you wanna take your tire and patch it yourself, that’s on good. Go right the fuck ahead. But if you want to buy a tire from us you can. We’re not forcing you. But for LIABILITY reasons if the patch rolls over the shoulder at all we cant patch it. Or if the tire has been driven low enough to wear rubber on the inside sidewalk of the tire. That’s also a liability issue and we can not patch a tire that has been driven an extensive amount of Time. Like any of you would even know what that looks like. Y’all must be some dumb mother fuckers if you don’t know why and what you can and can’t do when it comes to tire patching. Yeah you can probably get away with whatever patch you need to do, to get you home or get you over until you have a safer more reliable repair like a new tire. But you sound really dumb and obviously have no real experience in the automotive field.
Nor Dic I know why it’s a safety issue, but you obviously don’t. It’s not the tire industry you moron, it’s what I’ve seen other dumbasses do. How many patches have you even done? God forbid you put hat many lives at risk. You do realize that if that patch leaks due to it not being flat, and on the shoulder, that the driver may not realize until it’s too late and have a roll over with kids in the car. If it’s in a questionable spot don’t put people lives at risk. It’s a fucking tire you cheap skate. And take it somewhere that recycles them.
