The medal in the box is the Congressional Medal of Honor. It is the highest medal conferred in our military.
All while his family & friends were contained in concentration camps in the USA.
True
And its an upside down pentagram, satanic symbol for Baphomet worship (goat with breasts and a pe..., Trans worship). Thats the same symbolism as the "Rockn Roll" hand gesture and means Hail Satan, also called the sign of the horns. In Occultism the perfect human being is 50% male (Ying) and 50% female (Yang) hence in Freemasonry they also use the black/white checkered board "Balance/Equality/Trans". You will see that pattern often in music videos.
If you want to know more where the leftist agendas come from and false religions etc. look up the 4 part series by Spencer Smith "The Third Adam" ...
Daniel is 15 and going on 16 (when kids in the US can get their driver's licenses). Ralph Macchio who plays Daniel was 23 when the movie was shot. The sequel TV series to The Karate Kid films is called Cobra Kai, and when Macchio played Daniel again for the show, he was the exact same age as Noruyuki "Pat" Morita was when he played Mr. Miyagi.
Pat Morita was a stand-up comedian and comedic actor before playing Mr. Miyagi. He was also unwanted. Nobody wanted to hire him for the role, because of his career in comedy. When he finally auditioned, it was clear he needed to play the role. He is also a Nisei Japanese American, meaning born in the US to Japanese parents...and his accent as Mr. Miyagi is that of his uncle. He earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor as Mr. Miyagi.
As a boy, Pat Morita was in one of the internment camps set up in the US for those who were Japanese after the beginning of World War 2, much like the pregnant Mrs. Miyagi who died in the camp due to pregnancy complications. The camps are a stain on our history in the US, even though reparations were made to Japanese Americans who were interred. Mr. Miyagi served in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team in Europe, the most highly decorated unit for its size.
I wholeheartedly suggest Karate Kid 2, which is actually my favorite in the series. Karate Kid 3 is okay, with 2 impressive villains to hate, but not the best story. The Next Karate Kid (the last film starring Hillary Swank as the kid in training) is just not very good overall. After the films, the series Cobra Kai on Netflix is a blast. It is so good!!! Unfortunately, the series will be ending with the sixth season due out sometime this year. The series takes place 30 years after the KK films and focuses on Johnny and Daniel, and where they are, what is going on, and the people around them, including their kids.
The yellow 1947 Ford Super DeLuxe that Mr. Miyagi gave to Daniel on his birthday, was actually given to Ralph Macchio. He still owns the car, and it shows up in Cobra Kai, the only known original prop from the film to be in the TV series.
I know other people will suggest it but you should definitely watch at least part 2 but all three are worth watching. Part 1 is Daniel's story, part 2 is Mr. Miyagi's story and it's just as good as part 1 in my opinion.
Part 2 is a must, she should skip 3 .
@@periechontology part 3 is the best one of the series
1&2 are good but 3 was lacking. I'll watch any of them you choose to react to though. Then Cobra Kai!
THIS!
@@RonnieG 3 had the best character in the franchise. AHSAAA
Fun fact: The style of karate Mr. Miyagi uses is based on an Okinawan style called goju-ryu, which not only focuses on striking but especially throws and grappling found in judo and jujitsu.
Kreese's Cobra-Kai is based on a Korean style called Tang Soo Do, also known as "Korean Karate".
Also the stunt double in the fight scene with the teenagers was a world renowned karate champion and expert named Fumio Demura, who became a major role model for many action stars like Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal and Pat Johnson (the referee in the movie).
Pat Morita and Ralph Macchio became good friends after this movie. Ralph gave an eulogy at Pat's funeral when he passed in 2005.
Of course he did, he was his Sensei.
Excellent reaction Emma ... Karate Kid is a semi-autobiographical story based on the life of its screenwriter, Robert Mark Kamen. At age 17, after the 1964 New York World's Fair, Kamen was beaten up by a gang of bullies. He then began to study martial arts in order to defend himself
Wow, thanks for sharing!!! 😃
@@EmmaReactions You're welcome ☺, loving your reactions and your other channel
Action done by the great pat Johnson... you can see him in a small part with Bruce Lee enter the dragon.
The actor who plays Daniel is 4 years older than Johnny (the Blonde Cobra Kai guy) and 2 years older than Ali (his girlfriend)
My family and my best friend's family were put into the relocation camps during WW2 like Mr. Miyagi was. Also like Mr. Miyagi, My friend's dad believed that it was his patriotic duty to enlist in the army to serve as part of the Japanese-American 442nd Regimental Combat Team (one of the most decorated units of its size with one of the highest casualty rates in WW2), but his uncle believed that it was his duty to protest against the government's imprisonment of innocent Americans without without due process. This created a rift between the brothers, and they never spoke to each other again for the rest of their lives.
That reminds me of a relocation story from my family. My mom told me that when the FBI started rounding up Japanese-Americans and telling them to return to their homes to await further instructions from the government, they busted in on her sister's (my aunt) wedding. Officially, the Japanese-Americans were supposed to leave everything (including the wedding presents) at the church and immediately go home. Fortunately, one of the FBI agents had a good heart, and he told them "Anything you leave behind, you'll probably never see again. I'll look the other way while you take as much as you can before we lock up the church." Because it was a farming community, some people came to the wedding in their pick up truck, so they were able to load up a lot of their stuff before they had to leave. As tough and unfair as the situation was, mom appreciated and remembered that agent's act of kindness and humanity.
I would suggest watching both sequels and then there's a wonderful TV Series about the lives of these characters 30 years after this on Netflix.
Yes its called Cobra Kai its had 5 seasons so far and there will be eventually a 6th and final season. A lot of throwbacks to the trilogy in it.
I wish Emma would look at me the way she looks at the Karate Kid 22:26
"He needed a man. A father"
It's nice to see a woman giving value to men these days. Really appreciated it.
Emma is a wise woman.
With the release of this film, the archetypal embodiment of wisdom for '80s kids switched over from Yoda to Mister Miyagi.
Miyagi is based on real life Miyagi of Okinawa who developed the Goju (hard soft) style of karate (kara-empty te-hand). At a time Okinawans were despised in Japan he was honored. My sensei in karate was a 4th generation student from 2 branches. Thanks for this and all your other reactions.
The Goju Fist, same one used on my profile pic, can be seen on the chest of Sato's nephew in the final fight against Daniel.
Every young man should grow up with Karate Kid, Rocky and Rambo.
Of course, also with a father that can show him these movies.
Adding my vote for part 2 and 3, then on to Cobra Kai. They did so much right with that show, it's so good!
46:13 "They could be the best" Song "AROUND", Couldn't have timed that better.
I appreciate comments like this. Good stuff
This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. The director of this movie also directed Rocky btw
& the you're the best around song during the tournament was a song written for rocky that Stallone turned down. They used it for karate kid.
@@RonnieGI didn't know that... Stallone really screwed the pooch on that one because You're The Best is a banger
@@subliminallime4321 Stallone turned it down because he chose "Eye of the Tiger", which became a number 1 hit, for his "Rocky 2" movie. It was #2 song of all of 1982. "You're the Best" was used by "Karate Kid 1" only after Stallone turned it down.
16 years old for a driver's license. But, he excused himself to go to his mom for a surprise cake, and then blew her off!
I always wondered about that too! Maybe he dropped by really quick to show his Mom the car and she told him to go have fun, huh? 😂
Me and my friends, when we were kids and got hurt, we would do the miyagi clap and heal each other up. We always got back up and continued our outdoor play fun. It ALWAYS worked!!!
I still do this in my mid 30's 😂😂😂
28:15 One of the best lines from Miyagi “Funny you should ask” 😂.
The guy that Johnny fought in the semifinals, handled a lot of the fight choreography, he also created the crane kick, and was the stand-in for Miyagi practicing on the stumps.
o cool didnt know that...i always appreciated his character being a unknown threat during the tournament.
I know Fumio Demura, a legend in Japanese karate was the stunt double for Pat Morita in the fighting scenes. I didn't know the stumps scene was done by Darryl.
If I ain't wrong he also trained all the actors.
This first time I've heard the beautiful Emma mentioned she's a mother.
As a martial arts fan. This one was my inspiration growing up. Especially Mr. Miyagi.
This movie is one of my absolute favorites! Watching The Karate Kid movies growing up, and then having Cobra Kai as an adult has been magnificent. Comforting to have a comfort show follow you your whole life ❤
His wife and baby died while he served in the army. They were kept in internment camp. My grandfather wss one of the only Japanese from our region in Canada who served in France - probably one of the only in an all White unit - while thousands of Japanese Canadians had their homes and property permanently seized while they were placed in camps.
Same director as Rocky (and The Karate Kid II & III, and Rocky V).
Same musical composer as Rocky (and Rocky II, III & V, Rocky Balboa, The Karate Kid II & III, and The Next Karate Kid).
The screenplay was written by a Ph.D. who'd been beaten up as a teen, then studied Okinawan karate under a sensei named Miyagi to learn to defend himself; a vintner by hobby, after his Hollywood career, he retired to his vineyard.
"Rudy" is one of the best football movies if you have yet to see it. Based on a true story. Inspirational and has great music.
He's Colonel Sanders now.
Daniel looks like a little kid and the rest of the high school look like actual high schoolers. Daniel looks like an elementary aged kid. It’s funny when he tries to fight Johnny and he gets thrown around.
43:00/When Danny hears that the girl hurt her wrist by hitting someone, & the other girl tells him that "she doesn't have to tell you, you just need to read her mind!"...that line in this movie is stupid!! 😂😮
Thank you for watching my request Emma! Respect ! I knew you would enjoy the training process
Thanks for the idea!
Watch the triology of this movie an then the series cobra Kai
This.
Hell yea
And next karate kid it has to do with cobra kai
Ditto!!
1984 is also the book that came with " Big Brother " is watching
Bill Conti was the composer for KK1 and also the Rocky movies (except Rocky 4).
Karate Kid 1 (also 2) has one of the best soundtracks of the 80s.
Movie itself is a classic. Yeah there are some cheese here and there but it's the 80s after all so it works out just fine.
They trip me out when "Johnny took off earlier in the movie. Dude said I thought they broke up. He said she did he didn't 😂 . . . 8:09 I remember dancing to this song with my first girlfriend back in grade school.
The characters are supposed to be 17 years old or so. But Ralph Macchio was 22 years old when he filmed KK1.
Ralph Macchio he was 23 years in this movie
I watched this movie so many times as a kid. And it still holds up exceptionally well today all these decades later. For a movie that was aimed at kids, they really made sure to still craft a really well made film all around, from the cinematography, to the writing, acting etc. And Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi is a pure joy to watch. Really heart warming film in many ways. Loved your reaction and glad you enjoyed the film. :)
There's a a show called cobra kai 😊 it's Johny and larusso 35 years later it's so great 🎉
"Shower is running !" - OMG... I have never heard that one, brilliant !
PS. You'll love Karate Kid II also, if you haven't seen it already. I'll look forward to your reaction of that one also... you have a good heart. 💐❤ Fred
Ali lived in Encino, which is considered a very rich area of the San Fernando Valley in southern California. Daniel lives in Reseda. Reseda is considered to be a much less affluent area. So, the reason why Ali's parents looked down on Daniel and favored Johnny is that they are snobs.
This movie inspired me to get into martial arts. I studied karate from 8-11. I am 38, second degree black belt in Taekwondo and I won my first gold medal in April this year. I’m also a bully victim veteran.
Loved the reaction Emma. This movie is a absolute classic and really got alot of people into karate.Including myself. Just subscribed! Keep up the good work!😎🥋
Thanks for subbing! 👍😉
A lot of people miss that Mr Miyagi's wife died ( during childbirth) in an American internment camp while he fought for America in the second world war. The US rounded up Japanese citizens after the bombing of Pearl harbor.
80s, Americana, and just the simplicity; this aldo's favourite which became an instant Classic
Ironically, both movies The Karate Kid and Rocky have their similarities, both movies were directed by the same director in John Avildsen and the music from both movies were composed by the same composer in Bill Conti. Conti shows his music brilliance during the opening scene you'd enjoyed when both Daniel and his mom were making their way to California from New Jersey and throughout the movie.
Today is my Birthday and Karate Kid was born in 1984, the year I was born, so I will take this as a homage to me, even if I have to bend every law. Thanks for reacting to this and thanks to reacting to everything you do. You seem so pure, I appreciate that.
52:00 Kung Fu is from China, Tang Soo Do / Tae Kwon Do from Korea, Jujitsu / Judo is from Japan. Japan imported karate from Okinawa. The Okinawa's natives derived it from Chinese martial arts.
Two good sports movies I recommend are Rudy with Sean Astin and The Replacements starring Keanu Reeves.
Emma rocks. period. 💪
"he's training them as soldiers"
No, he's teaching them Bushido. The Japanese militarist code that the Imperial Japanese Army embraced in WWII.
Miagi is teaching Daniel western chivalry.
As I said... flipping things upside down.
Yeah you should do nr 2 aswell. Good work Emma
Hi Emma!🙂Daniel was 17 when he and his mother moved to Los Angeles. On his 18 birthday Mr. Miyagi gives him a car. You caught on very quickly about what Mr. Miyagi was teaching Daniel with the daily chores. "Karate Kid 2" (1986) starts just where this movie ended. It is more like a Part 2, and is worth watching. Great reactions to the original Karate Kid film, Emma!!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Just reminds me of Sterva-ism. I couldn't do it. Mind you I've loved the movie since 84. Glad the fast-and-furious people are delving into it. Imagine - movies with feelings, heart, family, friendship. No finger wagging gestures and head swaying and no hiphop culture. Yes there was a time... :)
Giving students seemingly pointless menial tasks to test their patience and discipline and to secretly develop the strength and movement patterns needed for fighting techniques is a classic trope in martial arts movies. Two of my favorite examples are from the 1976 movie "Shaolin Temple." One student is put to work in the kitchen stirring giant vats of soup with a long, heavy pole. The small circular motions to stir and large motions to go from vat to vat help him become a master of staff fighting. Another student is tasked with stoking the fires for the kitchen. Using his bare hands to tear large pieces of wood into smaller pieces to feed into the furnace give him the grip strength and ripping ability required for the tiger claw technique.
Awesome reaction Emma! It was fun watching your expressions and how focused you were during the movie. That's how we were watching this movie at the Drive-in Theatre for the first time back in 1984! And I see one of your subscribers mentioned the film "Vision Quest" for you to watch, and I also would recommend it. Another sports movie I'd like to suggest, "All The Right Moves", starring a young Tom Cruise. Thanks beautiful Emma and I'm looking forward to your next reaction! 🎥🍿😉
Thank you so much 😁
Wait till you watch pt 2... Pt 2 is a masterpiece
There are certain characters in movies that have a special place in our hearts. For me that is Mr Miagee, Spock from Star Trek and Mick form Rocky! They are dear to us and seem almost real in many ways!
as a person that took karate tai kwon do and akido movies like this hit me on a very personal level :D
Monument Valley, near the Four Corners region (Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico).
Daniel is 16 in the movie. Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso) turned 22 while filming this movie
Beautiful Emma - I'm sure people have told you already but : The director of The Karate Kid was named John Avildsen. He also directed a little film starring Sylvester Stallone called Rocky! :)))
I wish I had a father figure like Mr Miyagi 🥲
I loved your reaction to this movie I grew up watching. The Karate Kid belongs on the Mount Rushmore of 80s movies. Keep up the good work.
😉☺️🤩👋👋👋
It is interesting how perception changes. When I watched the movies back in the day my focus was on Daniel. Now almost 40 years later I understand how invaluable a Mr. Miyagi is in one's life is and how great it can feel to be one yourself for someone else.
Some of opening shots were filled in Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, and Southern Colorado. Im a trucker and been through these areas meany of times. Some of the most beautiful parts of the U.S.A.
Till this day Ralph (Daniel) still owns the bandana, the gi and the yellow banana (the car).
After you watch the 4 movies (including the one with Hillary swank) start watching cobra kai. You'll see the bandana the gi and the car all over again. Think the original gi and bandana are still in glass frames at his home. He just had a new engine installed in the car.
His kids make appearances in it. His son is sitting behind a certain someone during a meeting in season 3 and his daughter has several lines (I think) in season 4 & 5
I preferred the second movie, but that is because I lived with a family in Okinawa for a couple of years. You gain an appreciation of the culture when you live some place. Still, this movie set a foundation that was good for the second movie and for the fourth one ("Another Karate Kid").
Thanks for sharing!
This is one of my favorite movies thank you for sharing❤
No problem 😊
I like your genuine reactions, miss! :)
Another great sports/dramatic (boxing)movie is , 'The Champ' Starring Jon Voight and Faye Dunaway from the 70s . Warning ,you WILL cry.
Since Karate (To-Te) in Okinawa according to karate historians was created by the fusion of two Chinese fighting styles, White Crane and Iron Monk, it is fitting that the winning move is a crane style move, although nobody would place their hands like that before doing a scissor kick. The hands in the open wing frame is just Hollywood's way to emphasize it's crane related.
Thank you Emma for your reaction to this movie, your energy and enthusiasm is wonderful to see.
I've read that the actor Ralph Maccio has still the yellow car.
He could keep it after filming and never sold it.
Wow!!!
The ultimate legendary line. "WAX ON WAX OFF" 👏 😃
The song for the tournament montage "You're the Best" was originally going to be used in Rocky 3, but it was dropped for "Eye of the Tiger" when that song was written for Rocky 3.
I am a 41 year student if okinawan shorin ryu karate. I love it
Not many folks recognize military medals these days, but what Daniel was hold was the Medal of Honor, the highest award of valor in the US military. In other words, Miyagi was a Medal of Honor recipient.
Another excellent movie discussing Kung Fu instead of Karate is The Forbidden Kingdom (2008), starring Jackie Chan and Jet Li.
Focus, power, concentration 🤘 Mind, body, spirit...no matter what your discipline is. Fantastic reaction to a great film.
Since you love sports movies, I suggest the 1981 WW2 sports movie "Victory" aka "Escape or Victory" aka "Escape to Victory" starring Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine, Max von Sydow and football/soccer legend Pelé about a friendly match between allied POWs (Prisoners Of War) and their guards that gets blown up into a big propaganda match between the prisoners and the German National Team to demonstrate German superiority.
FOR LOVE OF THE GAME with Kevin Costner and Kelly Preston. Love story interwoven with a baseball game. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Daniel got his license at his 17th birthday.
They were just what each other needed.
absolutely loved the reaction...hope you continue the series 😘😘
Thank you! Will do!
I held the Mixed Martial Arts title for the state of Colorado from the of ages 13 to 17. The tournaments are not unlike this. I only stopped because I got football scholarship with University Colorado.
This is one of my fav reactions movie to watch. Trust me Emma apartments like that still exist 😁👍🏼 especially here in America 🇺🇸
You might like "Vision Quest", another 80's sports movie about a high school wrestler. Plus it has a love story and good music.
Excellent movie!
That's a good movie that more people should suggest.
You should to watch “only the strong” is a very underrated movie about an American soldier who goes to Brazil for a few years and when he returns from his service to his hometown he looks for a job as a capoeira teacher and has to teach 12 problematic young people from the city. He has a lot of drama and above all a good sports plot
Classic!!!!!!!
At the filming of the movie, Daniel and Ali were 20 and 22.
After the Pearl Harbor attack, Japanese Americans were rounded up and sent to "internment camps" aka Conentration camps... and all their money and possessions were claimed by the US goventment...Miyagi's family was sent to one while he was fighting in Europe ans thats where his wife and son died. The actor that played Mr Miyagi, Pat Morita was also interned during WW2 as a kid... as was George Takei aka Sulu from Star Trek.
Since most of the US requires someone to be 16 in order to get their driver's license, that is most likely Daniel's age on his birthday.
Should definitely check out 2 and 3 also.
If you haven't seen Demolition Man with Sylvester Stallone, you really should watch it. You'll love it. Funny, interesting, lots of action, and Sandra Bullock is great in it also!!
✅all done 😉
At the Halloween dance Ali asked Daniel if he wanted to go outside? as she already had her hands on his shoulders. With such a nice invitation he should have went outside with her instead of turning a hose on Johnny.
I studied martial arts when I was young and I recommend it for when you’re growing old ;)
Beautiful reaction video
That was a very very good rection
Daniel is the real bully.
