I have a ‘22 Maverick Lariat with the Lux & First Edition Pkgs!
21,000 miles and NO Problems!!!
Love My Truck!!!😊
They should call that $19,000 price what it is, "lottery pricing" because there is so many people that did everything they could to get that, and only a handful of people actually did get that price.
XL trim grade is limited to 15% of production. Hybrid is limited to 35%. There are variations to that mix, but yes the truck you see here is the least common variant available.
It was never 19 it was 20 plus 1.5 shipping. So minimum 21500 before taxes and fees, now it's close to 24000 b4 taxes and fees.
@@jetmoseby5149 closer to $25,000 before taxes and fees
@@jetmoseby5149 That didn’t age well. Now I’ve been seeing the XL trim starting at $30k and the Lariat going for $44k
@@RPG_RicePaddyGodmarket adjustments are not msrp and if you are paying them you are a clown I purchased several at msrp. Anything else?
I have a 2022 XL hybrid, 31,000mi after 22 months. No brake or rattle issues. Haven't checked overall MPG but don't recall many fillups under 40MPG. Paid $22,500, hitch, rear slider, CoPilot 360, no mark up. My 2024 XLT hybrid is scheduled for Nov 20 build. As Henry used to say, "ask a man that owns one".
I really love your style of reviews!! They are awesome, fun and informative. Thank you so much! Get better soon, covid sucks!
Thanks for the update Sam! Always my favorite place for maverick content. Videos are always clear and concise, the information seems well researched, and the mods always look great! Get well soon.
I got lucky and scored an xlt maverick at msrp spec exacty how I wanted from someone who backed out. Although i enjoyed the car i ended up trading for a Tacoma because I got tired of all the minor and major headaches that came with this first gen. Every issue brought up in this video applied to me, and my local dealership in Katy,Tx (Ford Autonation) refused to do the software upgrade for the.grabby brakes. Then Ford took over eight months to get back with airbag recall. Then had check engine for heat exchanger for five months with no update in sight. Have had toyotas bought with over 100k miles with less isues in entire lifetime than this brand new truck in one year. No thanks Ford, would rather pay more for gas.
Ahh boo hoo
Yes boo hoo ford 😂
Excellent update on the Maverick. Looks amazing with the new tires, wheels, and the black accents. 40 mpg is awesome, especially considering the desert heat. Thanks for the B-roll on Central Avenue... made me homesick. Feel better soon, sir! Covid is a biotch!! 😊
Been following you for years now, always informative and very entertaining.
Great video and update on the Maverick. I haven't had any recalls on my 2023 XLT hybrid yet, but I'm keeping an eye out just in case.
I had the exact same rattle. I used the soft side of some velcro, wiggled it in there, and have been enjoying a quiet ride ever since.
I just did the same! It worked!
As usual Sam; a complete straight forward review. Thank you.😎
Great video! This. Answered the questions I left with comments on earlier video.
Watching with COVID too! Hope you made a full recovery! Interesting review! My -22 hybrid XLT at 11k is literally drawing the same MPG and it'd been a fine little truck so far
First! Thanks again for all the maverick videos. Picking mine Ip next week and your channel has been helpful in making the decision!
Thanks for all the valuable information and insight. I am at 7,000 miles in San Diego and averaging 41.5 mpg (measured at the pump). Only problem was the right rear window switch going out. Plus an intermittent dash rattle.
I love my 2023 Hybrid Maverick LX. Same color too. Still all basic stock w/ hitch.
Great update, Sam!! Well done!!! I love the new styling trim. The wheels, tonneau cover and the front 'FORD' cover looks fantastic! Tastefully done!
Fnsweet!!! 👍🏽
Nice to hear from you!
Get well soon and thanks for the videos. I ordered my '24 xl hybrid last month.
How did you manage to order it before Ford ran out?
Like the improvements you made on the truck! Hope you are feeling better soon
I am really liking your Maverick, so sharp with the new tires, rims, fender flares.. I seriously am thinking on getting fender flares and some off road style tires, keeping my XLT rims though.. Covid sucks man.. get well soon!
Thanks for sharing.
Those new wheels looks amazing, and the sport bars are really cool, makes the truck stands out from the crowd.
30,000 miles and still not knowing if your motor will or wont blow because of some build defect is enough said. It would be nice to find out if any motor gets recalled and replaced on account of the build defect but I wouldn't hold a breath for one. Please keep the information and updates going on your truck. Thanks.
We're not too worried about it. If it hasn't failed at this point it's not likely going to. It's under warranty none the less. Life is too short to worry about everything.
I have 3 guitar picks placed in various locations in my 2022 hybrid XLT to stop rattling. I strategically placed the picks between panels until I found the culprit. I currently have next to 0 rattles!
Guitar picks are a great low-cost solution for that!
Hey great concise review on the Maverick! you did a good job framing the owner experience and you’ve always run realistic real world off-road tests. I have a 21 Honda ridgeline and I swapped out the firestone destination tires for BF good rich trail trains, and I couldn’t be happier with them up here in Idaho. They’ve been terrific on uneven forest service roads, rotted, gravel roads, fresh snow, including a couple of 6 inch plus powder days and the road noise compared to the BF good rich KO twos is night and day so that might be a tire you’d want to consider with some other vehicles anyway, I hope you feel better and keep up the great work on the channel.
I also have a Ridgeline 2019, and wouldn't trade it for two Maverick's.
You've made some really nice upgrades to your Maverick... looks like something you'd see from the factory.
Great video and you have a such a good taste with your upgrade truck, made looks really nice!
Wow, great review! Yes, I did order two of these trucks and the dealer sold them out from underneath of me because I wasn’t willing to pay 5000 over MSRP for my truck. I’m so glad you were able to get one in the beginning. Thanks for all your great reviews Sam.
makes a very strong case for direct sales like Tesla
@Please_Explain I do not wanna buy from a dealer that is greedy and wants me to pay an extra 5 to $10,000, More than MSRP.
Clearly the best review out there including enthusiast mods that set it apart, are cost effective, and make it a very special truck. More info on performance would be useful. This is a front drive vehicle. so would assume both wheels driven, and it is apparently fine off road...
Great review as usual.
Nice.. I'm loving my 23 xlt hybrid! Great looking truck
Thank you for this. Great info.
Great advice about solving rattles. Hope you are feeling better.
Wow looks like you got a whole new truck with the modifications I really like it!
would love to see more overlanding videos with your Maverick soon!
Great update and I love the way it looks now! When it comes to rattles, I happen to be the same way. I'll use envelopes, cardboard pieces and the like until it stops and then fix it myself. Keep up the good work! Cheers!
Get well soon Sam. I'm suffering on Long Covid since 15 month, can't work and can't do a lot. So I am watching a lot of videos 😁 and enjoy yours as well. Greetings from Germany
15 months! 😮 did you get long COVID symptoms after the vax shot?
@@mofayer No, but after Corona.
Most excellent. Thanks much.
We just bought a 2023 Maverick for $33,000.00 it had 5,000 miles on it. Love it. Just not happy with what they paid us for our trade-in
Very good review of the Maverick.
I love what you have done to the truck now. Those wheels look great on it. I have an early March '23 build hybrid Lariat that had the same dash rattle as yours. I took a piece of clear double sided Gorilla tape about 1" long and stuck it between the speaker grill and the "A" pillar with about 1/8" showing...problem solved. As far as the grabby brakes are concerned, I don't know why Ford doesn't use the programming that's on my truck because the braking is smooth as silk! In fact I have had zero issues with my truck so far (vigorously knocking on wood).
same here for my 2023 Mav brakes. I have no brake issues. It seems they fixed it for 23.
It’s your 2022nd video on your 2022 Maverick…. Hummm coincidence? Great vids as always. Kick that Covid in the tailpipe!!
I love mine as well. Love your new wheels.
Best review ever on maverick
Truck looks great Sam. I like that you didn’t go crazy on the mods.
@@Bikes0420 Not everybody needs a huge gas guzzling, uncomfortable vehicle. Don’t be a troll. Your only fooling yourself.
I have a 2022 King Ranch PowerBoost Hybrid and the brakes are amazing!
A nice no nonsense review
I really like these Mavericks they're such good value for the money. I liked it before with the cool 70s colorful stripes. I like it even better now it looks like a serious off-road Maverick nice job.
Awwwe the darn COVID got ya. I got it twice in 2022. Glad you're pushing through it and thanks for the Maverick update.
Good info, good upgrades
I am actually surprised how good the fenders look to break up the maverick outline. And with the custom grill front end this XL looks better than BAP in many ways.
I love the new make over! Truck looks great
Another great video, I really like the improvements you have made, it looks sharp. I've had my XLT Hybrid since the end of May, after waiting over 600 days. So far so good, and my combined fuel economy on the first tank was 49 MPG, using mostly Slippery Mode. Second tank was a bit of a drop due to using the truck for work related activities. Glad your truck is holding up and wish the same for mine as well. I look forward to your future updates, best wishes.
I am interested why using the Slippery mode? TIA! :)
you experiencing the brake issue?
Love the new look
awesome video. I also have a hybrid and i noticed a very high pitched noise coming from the regen brakes or somewhere from the front wheels. It has not been loud enough for me to take it in to the shop for a check up but i was wondering if that is something normal? Ive never owned a hybrid vehicle and i am aware they are supposed to make noises.
Truck looks great 👍
Sorry you have the Crud, I hope you mend fast. All the Best, Jim.
Cool video like the look of your truck i been looking at used ford mavericks of line what would be the best choice to go with the Hybrid or the 2.0 and what would be the best way to talk a car salesperson down on one
My 22 Maverick Lariat Hybrid at 18,000 developed a vibration when acceleration above 35 mph, turned out the cv axles were out of balance and were replaced under warranty.
I just bought a 2023 Maverick XLT which listed for $27K. Dealer selling price was $37K. I got it down to $30K. The prices of these trucks are crazy. The high end units and listing for over $40K. Their not the inexpensive little trucks for 2021!
great review. i like the new grill you found. can you share where or how to get one myself?
Ebay and Amazon. Full video on our playlist.
I found I turned off the automatic brakes the thing that holds the truck when you stop really helped in my maverick but you have to 1 leave it off and 2 give it a day or 2 mine got better with time! Thanks 4 the information.
How do u turn off the brakes? Regenerated
Awesome video! The leveling kit is advertised for the ecoboost/AWD only. It sounds like y’all did not run into any issues?
Not at all th-cam.com/video/t4X36jgIack/w-d-xo.html
Nice looking truck!
I hope you could make a video about long term maintenance - specifically PTU fluid changes. Is this something you have looked into?
Great review! Curious, do the bigger tires make your speedometer off with the speeds?
1.035
I have a '24 XLT Hybrid... same color... (no brainer for me) I bought the extended bumper to bumper (including battery) from 3 to 10 year warranty for about $3k and the upgrade from 2 to 8 year tire warranty (including the wheels) for $275.... I found that if you let the truck sit for a second or so, after taking your foot off the break, the "grippy break thing" goes away... seems the more you fight it the worse it gets... I call her Roz (short for Roswell, NM)... Next are the upgraded floor mats (stock ones suck)...
i think the wire/cable issue isnt an "inspection" issue. Im pretty sure if you got the notice they just replace it. They did on my 22 hybrid while it was there for other things. A 'no start" condition is what its listed as, Id say they wanna avoid towing mavericks to dealerships and will just preemptively replace the cable. Thats my two cents.
what tonneau cover is this? love the keko bar
Where is the grill from ? It's cool!
Thanx Sam....for the info... get well. i hope you don't have any residual effects from Covid.
Have a Ford Fusion hybrid. The maverick inherited it's drivetrain. I would argue you shouldn't be driving it like a truck, or a regular car. Look up "hypermiling". If you are only getting slightly better than the base engine's mpg rating, you are not utilizing the setup how it was designed to be driven. Entirely possible to hit 60+mpg in city or rural hill/mountain areas. A more simple way to think of it, is that the eletric drive is only there to maintain speed, or accelerate through downhill dips if the battery is full, and of course capitalize on the regen braking.
Hi! Great review!
Did the larger wheels and tires decrease the fuel economy?
Thank you!!
2-3 mpg
Wow, I can't believe the gas mileage you're getting with this thing. That's as good as my 2019 Honda Civic!
Ford just notified me that my Maverick has been delivered, even though I “canceled” my order and got my deposit back almost 1.5 years ago. I ended up getting a
2022 Tacoma because I gave up on the waiting game. Now I have a tough decision to make 🤔
Do you think the leveling kit and new tires/wheels will drastically affect your mileage? Excellent videos and content, thank you.
Don't have enough data yet. Tires and wheels were put on in the height of the heat wave and mpg has been gradually improving because of lowering temps. I likely wont have enough comparative data to say for sure until December or January. Anecdotal evidence out there from others suggests 1-3 mpg drops from such upsizes.
Same size I put on my hybrid XL and I lost between 5-7mpg. I found it was harder to keep it in electric mode with the extra rolling resistance. I kept the stock tires which I use in the summer and then I'll throw the all terrains on during the winter. Found that my short commute in the cold kept the Mav from going into electric mode until everything warmed up anyway, so might as well have the bigger tires on.
Yeah. Time will tell. I expect some cost for better capability and better looks. Even with the tax, it's still great fuel economy at the end of the day.
Great review! You mentioned the Oedro tonneau cover. It looks like a hard tri fold cover, but looking on the Oedro website, I only see soft covers and retracting covers for the Maverick. Can you give me more info about the cover? I like the Keko sport bar and want to find a hard tri fold cover that is compatible with it. Thanks!
The trifold cover is not compatible with the sport bar. It's in a fixed position or it has to be slid off.
We just turned 45 thousand miles on our Hybrid. We just had the CV axels replaced under warranty. We started to have vibration issue on acceleration.
Like the wheels and tires you installed, like the "area 51" color and like the roll bars in the bed, maybe the best looking maverick I've seen. Wish I could still get one for 19k.
Hope you feel better 😊. Been waiting since last year for my cactus grey XLT hybrid. Seems if you live in Canada ford doesn't have a high priority to make the Canadian versions.
My Maverick XLT Hybrid has been built and shipped. Will arrive soon at the dealership here in Canada.
. ME to in USA ! Waiting for exact model
Could you provide a link for the raptor style grill? Thank you!
Search "Maverick Grille" on Amazon or Ebay. They are everywhere.
Get well soon, Sam!
that's my desert in the background (Arizona) I can tell!
Does your tonneau cover "leak" when it rains, have talked to several and leakage is a problem, in the winter dozens have reported snow drifts under the cover. If yours hasn't leaked what brand was it again, and be so kind as to say where it came from. Thanks.
Because of the design of the cargo box there really is no 100% water tight way for any tonneau cover or topper to seal against all short of caulking it manually like a bathtub. Even then, the bottom of the cargo box has openings and drains that still allow wetness up into it if driving in wet conditions. It's just not meant to be sealed.
If you haven’t, try a Honda Accord Hybrid’s brakes. Honda really got them right, at least for MY 18 and up. Haven’t driven any earlier than our 19.
36.2 on video BUT I see your average is in the 40.1 is good. I have a roof rack a 16 foot kayak to get as low as 36.9 highway. Must have been driving hard to get 36.2 . I think I will also average about 40 which is 70 percent kayak on roof mostly highway. Mine is XLT. ZERO braking issue problem, smooth at low speed. Mine is a 2023. Built July 2023. Mine is still low on mileage maybe it will change . I hope I don't have the brake issue, none now.
Sam would these tires work without rubbing if you didn't install the leveling kit?
No rubbing at this size with or without the leveling kit
Nice video.
I am elderly and getting into the Maverick bed I have to sit on the downed gate swing around then to my knees then stand up.
Need a step or platform to increment step onto gate.
Think it would make a good video for us weak legged folks to see some accessory item.
Get better soon Sam! And oof...109 degrees F
Why will they not bring this to the UK? So many of those giant rangers everywhere, having one of these would be so much nicer, and we would *kill* to get a truck that does 48mpg UK! That's insane.
The main issue with the Maverick is availability, especially the hybrid. Take care.
Good that you like your Ford. Did the engine blow up yet?
Not yet ;)
I like mine so far but I got 46mpg on the tank of gas from the dealership and like 35 or so every one since. Kinda disappointed. was a big reason I wanted to support the tech. still liking it though.
Where are the paint chips on the fender lol? I have a few on mine after almost 26K on the Eco boost
Where are your paint chips located? Ours has some on the edge of the bumper where it meets the bottom of the headlamp, maybe from wear or vibration, Still haven't figured it out.
Exploding seems really dramatic. Engines don't typically explode. They can smolt and catch fire, but to say it explodes is over the top. Drag cars running at sky high temperatures with high test, yeah. Maybe you'll get a pop because something threw in the engine, but its not going to blow the hood and be like c4.
Where did you get the grill from?
They are all over Ebay and Amazon
What's your trick for getting above 40 mph? I almost never do, even when avoiding the interstate. Also do you notice a difference between what the vehicle says is mpg and when you fill up at the pump?
The dash readout is about 2-3 mpg optimistic in most cases when measured against real consumption calculated at fillup.
@@TestDrivenTV Thanks. I've been noticing the same thing. I do have to drive a solid amount on the interstate.
I think I saw somewhere that said the base Maverick is no longer the hybrid version. Is that true?
The hybrid engine is now an extra cost option on all Mavericks.
DiDthe oversize wheels and tires affect your gas mileage?
1-2 mpg is the tax
Thanks for the update! Ecoboost is pretty good. My hybrid is not that much better but then again im hauling more now than when i got it and blasting the AC. May have to consider Ecoboost AWD next time around
What are some other costs that have popped up?
Gas prices went up over the summer
Great video. I also caught Covid for the first time August 25th. You were one of the first channels I watched who had the Maverick. I see you removed all the colorful decals! I’ve heard so many horror stories of recall after recall.
Recalls aren't by definition a "horror story". They are a way for a manufacturer to correct issues and faults that for most people had never actually become a problem yet. In my case, none of the actual recalls were problematic for me. A visit to the dealership and these things were taken care of, not really a "horror story" at all.
