    Congratulations!
    Had my 2.0L/AWD for just over 6 months, and let me say, it's been satisfying. Sure, there's a few things you'd wish were better, like the audio system/speakers, but for the price, it's pretty good.

    Like many other hybrid Maverick owners I had quite a wait, 16 months. Picked it up 2/23, very satisfied with my trucklette. Certainly fits my need more than my F150.

    • @dearbulls
      @dearbulls 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mind illustrate what your needs are? I too own a f150, and my AWD Mav is in production and hybrid one is scheduled for February. Still haven't decided on which one to keep. Would need to see when I get hands on them. But already got the full Lasfit LEDs for a year and half (my 23 order wasn't made), and I just bought the Fiesta ST steering wheel from eBay (which works on the Mav) 😂

    • @stevethomas760
      @stevethomas760 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@dearbulls I never used my F150 even close to it's potential. The lighter payload is enough for a few bags of sakrete/mulch/fertilizer and my paddle board. It's personal but I like driving a smaller vehicle in general. The hybrid's mpg was just a bonus. My order was a '22 turned into a '23, 16 months

    • @dearbulls
      @dearbulls 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@stevethomas760 the payload is not that much lighter, 1400# vs. 1600# for my 2013 f150. I was surprised that Ford actually rated the maverick for that much.
      I don't really use all the carrying capacity either. My truck is just my hunting rig, maybe occasionally for yard work and hauling dead trees to dump station. But for that 1-2 times a year, I'm getting a much taller load height and I don't really use the bed for groceries etc (I'm 6'2 and it's still hard to reach in from the side). I'm thinking I'll probably use the bed more with the Mav since it's so easy to reach in.
      My only concern is how it works dealing with muddy trails. I did took a FWD Tiguan to my hunt land the other day (when it's dry) and it goes to 95% of places I usually go. I don't know how the Mav would handle those since it has a lower ground clearance than the f150. But also it's lighter and narrower. So for some trails which I only had one option on the f150, I could have more route options and go around the big holes maybe?

    • @stevethomas760
      @stevethomas760 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@dearbulls Maverick Tremor ($$) would handle the muddy/off road. That said it AWD/eco boost = no hybrid. I'm only 5'9" and reaching is the bed was one thing I wanted and got with the Maverick. Trucks have gotten progressively bigger/taller. My '20 F150 was 4 3/4" taller in the bed than my '04 Silverado. As with life sometimes compromises, sometimes you can't have everything. Making that big of a buying decision on 5% of use would be a leap for me.

    • @dearbulls
      @dearbulls 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@stevethomas760 tremor maverick is definitely not something I'd consider (maybe a f250 tremor I would, lol).
      My 13 f150 would out perform it in any off-road condition and I don't need to spend $40k on a tiny pickup and lose all the room I have. The greatest benefit of mav to me is just cheap and small (won't get scratched easy like the f150 on trail), gas saver, and easy parking. And with the recent huge rebates that Gladiator has, you can get a much more capable vehicle with the tremor price.
      My psychological price range for this pickup is just under 30k, and it's why I ordered 2 XL this year, one AWD ecob and one hybrid to compare. I'm thinking to keep just one and maybe traded one or both for the 2025 hybrid AWD.
      And I agree with you, paying extra for the 5% use is stupid. You can always get a trailer to do the job. I have barely ever used all the room of the f150 bed. And when you need to haul bigger stuff like sofa, ATV, or the 75" TV I just bought, you still need to have the tailgate down even with that 5.5 bed.

    I bought a 2023 exactly like yours off the lot last week. Mine has a sun roof. I found a dealer who is not charging above MSRP, most of the dealers in my area are still marking up the Mavericks. They have hundreds of F150’s and lightings on the lot and begging people to buy them. Why doesn’t Ford wake up and convert the Lighting and a few F150 plants to making Mavericks, the truck most of us want to buy.

    Thank you for sharing your experience and out the door pricing. Really surprised at how much you had to pay in dealer doc fees and Arizona state fees. Just before Thanksgiving we picked up our 24 Lariat Hybrid in Terrain with the Moon Roof and key pad as options. We traded in our 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid and applied the $500 Farm Bureau certificate and the $2500 Ford Private offer. The rest we paid in cash. Title, license, dealer inventory tax, dealer doc fee and registration were $353. Sales tax @6.25% 1246.28, We had put down $500 to place the order back in Sept of 2022. With an MSRP of 36,725 the total out the door price with trade in was 20054.28. We also have not noticed any wind noise from the moon roof but it does add some complexity as you mentioned.

    First of all thanks for the 2024 ford maverick content!
    Here’s a short video suggestion. I would make a short video focusing on the new terrain color since almost no one has their 2024 models!
    I personally ordered an azure grey and would’ve loved if a TH-camr had a video on it. So I would assume people who ordered the terrain color would feel the same way. If you do decide to make the video please have some segments without a filter, just so we can see its real raw color.

    Brendan----- very nice! I like everything about your Lariat. I got my XLT hybrid in July. I had a 2013 ford f150 , And decided to sell after I got my Maverick. The f150 was like new , with 47,000 miles on. { I would always park the truck by itself in parking lots etc. so I wouldn't get any door dings. I like to keep my stuff looking nice.} When I would check the oil, I would get a step ladder, you couldn't reach the dip stick just standing on the floor. The Maverick on the other hand is so much easier to park and reaching into the box and see around, etc. Enjoy your new vehicle, you deserve it, being your 23 was cancelled and you waited a long time. Cheers---Gene

So far in suburban driving little heat or AC, I have been getting over 44MPG and range (Trip 1 plus distance to empty) is over 600 miles. First mod was to add KIA rearview mirror with Homelink GDO. The accessory you need is an Apple/Android wireless adapter. You plug it in and you can Velcro it up under the phone area so it isn’t visible. Regarding seat covers, why do you want them? Those seats look nice with the Terrain and they are very durable. I have a Altas Blue Lariat with those seats and a messy kid. Zero problems with the seats and they stay cooler in the summers.

    • @brendandrives
      @brendandrives  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ooh thanks for that idea, I’m not even sure what that does…I assumed it had wireless Car Play already. Must not! I will check out those. Do you have any recommended brands?
      Seat covers just to protect them from both me and the kids. I had them on the life of my 2013 F150 and used and abused them. Now the seats look nearly new underneath. My job as a commercial superintendent was quite messy!

    • @joyofnft8084
      @joyofnft8084 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@brendandrives It is weird that there is a wireless charger in the Lariat, but no wireless Android/Apple CarPlay. I bought an ottocast because it supports both Apple and Android. I can’t totally recommend it because I find myself having to do occasional hard resets on my Ford Sync to get it to work. Maybe someone bought a wireless adapter that works better. Do you have a center console ambient light by your phone? My 22 XLT had that light, but Ford removed it in the 23 models including my Lariat. I can see light by my feet and the door handle, but nothing by the phone area in my 23.

I only got a few options and so the truck was $25,300 after my $2500 price protection . My dealer hit me for $449 "doc fee", which is the max allowed in PA. But PA fees are higher. Yearly registration for a truck is $105 Vs $42 for a car. So far I am very happy with the truck, although i have only driven it about 50 miles.

    Im 6'2, won't fit behind myself at my regular driving position. But if i scoot forward a little, still being drivable just not as comfortable, then I can fit behind myself. This is actually impressive to me for such a small vehicle with a 4.5' bed behind it. Sure, my old sonata hybrid has more combined leg room and more elbow room (being a mid size vs. this compact size), but it has less ground clearance and no bed. Congrats on your purchase - a very nice truck! If you pay off your 5-year loan at the end of year 1, then take a look at your ACTUAL interest charge (and rate) for year 1: you will pay $1,071.60 in interest in year 1 to borrow $27,155 for 5 years, BUT you will pay off the balance due (48 months x $541.90 = $26,011.20) at the end of year 1. This means that you will pay $1,071.60 in interest ($5,358 divided by 5) to cover your $541.90 x 12 months = $6,502.80 expenditure. This translates to a 16.415% interest rate in year 1 ($1,071.60 divided by $6,502.80). Unlike a mortgage loan which uses compound interest rather than simple interest, you will pay 1/5th of the full term of interest in year 1. Hence, you will be paying interest in year 1 on what you borrowed for a 5-year term ($27,155), which covers years 2 - 5, even though you paid off the loan after year 1. Lesson: it makes a lot of sense to pay off a mortgage loan (which uses compound interest calculations) in an accelerated fashion, since interest is front-end loaded (the more you pay off the principal the lower successive month interest charges will be). But, it makes poor financial sense to borrow money to purchase a car IF you plan on day 1 to pay off the car loan before the end of the (5-year) term since car loans charge the same interest amount every month for every month of the term.

    Do not forget to change the oil after the 1st 500 miles! No one tells you to do that, but during the break in period (the 1st 500 miles) you get the break in metals, silicone, etc in your oil. So!
    Change that oil asap after 500 miles, and if you keep the oil changes at 4,000 intervals (Yes, guys, I know...) til you get to 175,000 then switch to every 3,000 milesthat truck will run you well over 275,000 miles.
    How do I know? 2009 Ford escape hybrid with the same engine, going on 230,000...doesn't burn a drop of oil , and runs like new...I change my tranny fluid at every 30,000 miles and the oil at every 3,000 miles now...
    Costs a touch more to do that but hey, am I buying another car? Nope! Just an extra oil change now and then. This girl is jealous of your Maverick! Enjoy it!

    I think you're giving Ford too much credit for not keeping the price = for the '24 as the '23 you had on order. They closed out orders in Sept.'22 within a week and they did that as they met the production capacity for '23. So Ford failed their customers and to reward you and your patience they made you and others including me place another order for a '24 at the new price increase. Ford 100% should've matched the '23 price for waiting the 1yr plus!!! Its not like Ford added content, or new features/design. 👎

    It was a nice review. Thank you for that. But realize that the dealer borrowed the money at 5% and then made 2% on your loan. It’s called “back end”. You could have saved some of that $5k finance interest and lowered your monthly payment by arranging your own financing. And since you paid full retail, they had no room to take back the money you took from their “back end”. You would have won the shell game. And also, I’m not so sure some of the itemized finance items aren’t considered illegal “garbage fees” that The Federal Trade Commission have been clamping down on. Just a few thoughts.

    Good video. I was looking at the Hybrid Lariat too mainly because my current vehicle is keyless and I didn't want to go backwards with a new vehicle. It's sad how Ford soaks buyers with their "luxury" trims which really should be their standard trim. Over $40k for that truck is certified nuts, like COVID-level prices. I get it - they raised the price. Just not worth it in my opinion for the $250 in upgrades on the Lariat package. I'd honestly wait for a 2WD Cybertruck before I'd buy this. It's more money but it future-proofs you for a long time and they'll likely hold their value better over time.

    You mentioned that you placed half of your down payment on a credit card. Did you apply for the credit card before going to the dealership or after you had secured the financing terms? Just wondering how that might affect the terms you got. I expect to get my Maverick in about month and was expecting to put down a similar sized cash down payment but if I can earn some credit card rewards on a new card it would be worth the approach.

    • @brendandrives
      @brendandrives  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I applied for the Capital One Venture card but it was only like 7 days before the truck came in. So I actually waited an extra couple days to pick up the truck to be sure I could use the card and get the initial spend bonus. (Here’s a link to the card: i.capitalone.com/GXtvg3kxA )
      As far as I understand the dealer financing world, it shouldn’t drastically change the terms to use a credit card vs check. I thought all they needed to know was the total amount down.
      I would be willing to bed different dealers have different policies on accepting cards though. Merchant fees can limit how much they accept.

    Finance @ the dealership? No, no, no. You sound like you are good with finances and probably have a good credit rating. As bad as things are, that would most likely equate to a new vehicle rate at a 5% buy rate. I call it the by by rate because by the time that offer went across the desk to you....7.2%. Not a big deal I suppose if you are paying it off in a year, but for most of us, that's not a reality. Go to a credit union, pre-approve yourself, and do not, do not, do not share anything about your offer terms to the dealership, not the amount, interest rate-nothing.
