- I Had To Move Her Inside..
I've had to move Multy indoors due to her health not being so good. She is very underweight, and was continuing to drop in weight which was a big concern. Weighing only 720g and still dropping in weight means that she is not well enough to stay out during the Winter. Only healthy animals should be kept outdoors during the cold season. She also did not move from the hutch unless she was hungry and came down for food, so she was not showing an interest in social interaction with the others. She is still doing ok, and after many vet trips these last few months there is nothing obvious to suggest she has an illness. I figured that bringing her indoors would benefit her the most. If she does show signs of being lonely or depressed, I will have to look into other options, but for now she keeps content. I also moved her into a C&C cage the size of the table, so she has more room :)

Poor Multy, i totally understand the reasons for bringing her indoors and support you with it. I am sure some total idiot will comment about companionship so i will say this in advance theses are your piggies and you know whats best for them.

Erin, you're an awesome animal owner. I personally don't feel like you need to explain yourself about having to bring Multy inside. I'm sure she's happy to be around you more often :) Also, you're make up in this video is on point. Hope Multy feels better and stays nice and warm.

my guinea pig never got along with other guinea pigs no matter what we tried or how many, she would always fight with them, she is happy enough and content and she's almost 7 years old! I think there's just some that don't like other guinea pigs no matter what you try!

I think you've taken a wise step for the health and well being of Multy, Erin, and she'll enjoy all the extra time with you xx We had a rescue piggie called Pudding who just did not want to live with other pigs, it was why she was given up by her previous owner, and we tried to integrate her with our girls, but she was so stressed and unhappy. Eventually we gave up and let her be on her own. She was so much happier and more relaxed!! You're right, not all piggies conform to what the books/experts say, now and again there'll be a special pig who needs to be an individual.

I totally understand your reasons for bringing Multy indoors & as you say every guinea pig is different with individual needs, plus she might hopefully start to put on weight.. I had two guinea pigs who were sisters, for the most part they got on OK, then at only 3 years old one of them Pepsi died suddenly. I was really worried about the remaining sister Cookie being on her own & considered getting another guinea pig, but what became apparent was that Cookie seemed more than happy being on her own & carried on with her life like nothing had happened, of course she got extra human cuddles as well.. She then went on to live to the ripe old age of 7, 4 years more than her sister, so yes they all have their own little personalities. x
I hope she gets better soon. I'm sure I will give her the best care she can get! And also you inspire me and give tips and advice to make my guinea pigs life better

aw good luck with her! I think you always make the best decisions for your pets, and we all support you. we had a piggy like her, he honestly wasn't bothered by guinea pig company after his partner died (they never really got along anyway) there are always exceptions! xx

Guinea Pigs on their own don't actually get depressed as easily as some people make out... its a bit more work I will admit but they can lead very content lives on their own if you put the effort in and spend time with them and become their human companion. My very 1st guinea pig's 10 week old Bramble and Fern were sisters and when Fern passed away (very young from seizure from a suspected tumor) I got myself into a tiz thinking Bramble would be lonely and depressed but she was honestly a very happy and cuddly piggie to the end, we had a great bond until the moment she died sadly from a stroke at the ripe old age of a few months short of 7 years old. Yes they like to be in at least a pair but sometimes the circle of life happens and like my lovely guinea pig who lived alone for 6 years but with effort on my part she was a very happy and healthy girl. It would have caused her more stress for me to just force another guinea pig onto her life when she loved her own routine and taking advantage of my dad who brought her food and a treat every morning when he woke up for work, she had him down to a tee! Every guinea pig is different but being "on their own" isn't the end of them being happy and content, I'm going to say it again but the effort you put in comes out in a happy and lovely guinea pig who will love you back just as much.
(Btw, this isn't aimed at anyone or meant to offend anyone, just giving my experience on indoor - own their own guinea pigs as some people (like me) can panic when they suddenly have a single guinea pig and worry if its not going to have a good quality of life.)

i completely respect your decision and believe that you did the right thing, if bringing her in for a few weeks means that she can be better and eventually join the other guineas again soon then thats the right path to take in my opinion.

You are 100% correct to bring Multy indoors. :) From what I have seen Multy really is one of a kind and I don't believe it will bother her to be away from the others that much. It is what it is, and everyone knows you will always do what is best for them.

I have this too!!! but after a while I noticed that she was very happy between the rabbits. I know, it's not recommended, but the rabbits do not make a problem and she looks happy now.

I completly agree with your decision of moving Multy indoors. Although it is sad, it does make sense do that. One of my guinea pigs also became extremly distant and depressed from the other pigs. What I did was move her alone into a seperate cage and got an unwanted baby pig from a person I know. I thought that my "sick" guinea pig would want to bond with the baby due to mother instincts. Luckily, I was right and now they are inseperable and my pig has really lightened up. I am even considering moving them back into my guinea pig herd. I don´t know if this will help you or something, just sharing my experiences.

You're animals are so well cared for and it's clear how much they mean to you. You know your piggies best and you have done what you feel is best for you and your piggy (who is beautiful by the way). She may be grieving for Mable if she was the one she really bonded with bless her. She'll be happy and warm over winter and you'll be reassured that she'll be safe so that's only a positive thing xx

Good decision since it's best for her. You can interact with her inside and she will be okay. If she's not socializing with the other guinea pigs then she shouldn't be feeling left out. You can still let her go out to the hutch a couple hours every so often to see them

Hey, I've just started watching your videos and there amazing I love the gerbil ones and I think you should make more your content is great I'm trying to get my mom and dad let me have one and keep up with the great work!!😊
Also When you have your gerbils in your room do you get distracted in the night and are they okay to sleep in your room pls help because we've never had gerbils before ✨
Charliemack101 I have two gerbils in my room (both in one cage as they are best kept in pairs or more like guinea pigs) and I can easily sleep without them waking me. Only thing is they have a bowl in their cage which they tend to rattle during the night so sometimes we take it out at night. Also, to convince your parents to let you get them, do Los of research to show how much you want them and that you are responsible enough to and understand how to properly take care of them
I support your decision as I have to single piggies. I put them in a play pen together each day. I got them as a pair but their bond broke and they kept fighting 😪 they are now on a mend and I hope to have them together shortly, but I am taking the bonding process slowly as I am scared if I do it to quick they will start fighting again. I hope multie gets better soon good luck with all your piggies! 🐹

Have you ever thought that Multy might have anxiety? I'm not sure if guinea pigs can develop mental illness but I know a lot about it with humans and it kind of sounds similar. I'm not sure if this is possible or will help but if you can find a younger guinea pig in a rescue or up for adoption you could get a partner for Multy so that they would bond with a younger one. You could set up one of your older indoor hutches for them (if you still have them). Then when you feel like Multy is ready to go back she will have a partner.
DISCLAIMER: I am in no way saying you HAVE to get another guinea pig but it may be beneficial. It is just a suggestion and do not do this unless you feel like it is the right thing to do
Hello Erin it is understandable about moving Multy inside it seems she might be depressed for some reason how she goes back in her little house after feeding , maybe feeling insecure , you said she never really interacted with the others , I agree being alone is not good they all need companionship , Hope she comes around .

I respect you decision, they are your pigs and you will do what you think is best. And TBH I would do the same, I would rather have a definite result that they will be okay with you inside, then them be outside and live the same, not well. Don't listen to the haters, you do what you think Is best love.
I'm so jealous of you ;-; I'm not allowed to keep any pets inside the house. My parents keep saying they will stink but I keep on trying to explain to them that it won't stink unless I keep cleaning the cage which I will! But anyways at least I think I'm allowed to get guinea pigs but there currently aren't any at the animal shelter :c

So sorry that Multy is having a hard time. I agree that moving her inside was the absolute right thing to do. Perhaps she can gain some weight if alone and warmer.
I feel so bad for multy. I wish we knew what to do but I Think that she'll be okay. Don't worry. You could try some essential oils that are safe that could relief stress.
