Had a roommate who wanted me to dump a domestic rabbit back in the park where it was dumped because it was “wild” and had diseases -_- when the rabbits literally looked like these ones and let people pick them up. Had to drive to 3 different shelters because they were closed and she threatened to dump it back in the park herself

@@kirani111 that's terrible! Yep wild rabbits don't let you just pick them up they run. Even some domestic rabbits run. They have to be not only a domestic rabbit but also highly tame and friendly loving buns which makes it even worse to dump them. People refuse to accept animals have feelings and fears too.

I wonder what the deal with the owner is. These rabbits don't look like any fancy breeds, I don't think they'd earn a lot of money from breeding them. For some reason I'm suspecting they may have been intended as feed or bait for some illegal dog fighting or other harmful activities, there's no way they'd keep them as pets/livestock and not at least get a cheap chicken wire or a hutch.

Dude "some countries"? The restaurant 1 block from me is famous for rabbit stew! I think you under-estimate how popular rabbit meat it, i still see it abt as much as i see duck on menus. The thing to me as a retired animal care advisor that tells me these likely weren't feeder rabbit is because this specific type (small, white of this type) are not a meat/game rabbit. Meat and game rabbits are very big and either wild redish brown or brown or black. So that could still be whats up, but itd obvi be a very uneducated person attempting it, as pet type rabbit are not fit for those conditions and will perish and are way more expensive than farmed meat/game rabbit, and are too small to be profitable. @@Temms

I kind of get the feeling, maybe the real reason so many people tried to stop your rescue attempt is just because they didn't want you in the area because they are doing suspicious things. They probably don't care about the rabbits at all, whether they get rescued or not, they prolly just want to make sure people aren't able to snoop about. I'd say probably not for meat (or if they were, they're particularly stupid). Leaving them out in the rain and accessible to predators significantly increases their chance of dying (can't safely eat an animal that you don't know exact cause and time of death), stress makes the meat taste terrible, the best way of dispatching a meat rabbit requires the rabbit to be calm when handled, and leaving a rabbit on an area like that has the risk of the rabbit eating something poisonous (if the rabbit doesn't die from that, it could make whoever eats its meat sick).

I wish more people understood the care rabbits need. Even people like my dad who use them for meat give them a safe space indoors following a FULLY ENCLOSED outdoor pen (top bottom and sides are all chicken wire, the bottom gets covered in dirt and we plant seeds for plants they can eat). Both of these factors together along with the fact that we continually monitor weather and basically everything else in their lives. Heck we don’t even buy pellets for ours, we grow our own vegetables and hay they eat! Rabbits in any state, need to be cared for, I have personally watched a rabbits decline after being abandoned. Please remember to do your research before getting any animal!

Blows my mind the original owner that dumped the rabbits was watching you like that. The audacity to cause this and do nothing to help 😠 I would report his a$$ for abuse. Makes me so mad! I'm glad your friend was there to help you get this rescue done. Bless you! ❤

when i was 10 i caught 5 cute little babies over the span of 4 months, it is a damn hard process and takes hours upon hours but i got them. One of them i think someone just let go because he would run up to anyone and just lick the crap out of you, absolutely adorable, (mom ended up making me take the bunnies to petzoo, but later she got me a rabbit that got pregnant after being left out by my brother, so we ended up breeding babies and give them to trusted people)

I rescued a little bunny like a yr and a half ago a lady found him under her car(she thought he had a broken leg thank goodness he didnt). She brought him to me and he had his own room sadly my friend took him because i moved and there wasnt an extra room for him like at my old house. She had a whole room set up for him it was so sweet.

I’m betting he was going to eat them. I came across a situation like this also with Rex rabbits and the “owner” said he was going to eat them, so it didn’t bother him that they were running all over the street. ☹️

Thank you for your work, I have a rescue rabbit who was dumped by a daycare who didn’t want him. I got him malnourished but now he is a healthy chunker and is living the best life. Keep it up and thank you it makes my heart warm while also making me mad for people who dump innocent animals.

I know how catch bunnies I love them so much I’ve actually done a rescue there is five baby bunnies that ran out of their home because one of my friends dogs were digging them out and as soon as I saw to run out I immediately grabbed one and the second one we looked all over the neighborhood and eventually we found it and we put them back in the nest and waited for the Mom to come and Mom came home and they are now safe and sound and a grown-up my friend named them nails and I named my strawberry Every day we see them every day We sometimes eat them give them some nest material
