The trick is to put one melee outside the gate, all the raiders will run into archer range, pull the melee back inside at the last minute, you can then use the tunnel as it will be too far back for the raiders to return.
That would be awesome if we could build our owe siege weapons but unfortunately at this point we can't build them ourselves. Maybe one day down the road we can.

why not add your own siege weapons in your castle so you can counter attack without the need to use tunnels or go out?
