Dude I am so mad that this video isn't more popular. It's REALLY freakin good. The awesome script and narration made it feel like I was watching a movie, and I was on the edge of my seat for every second. On top of that, it also served as a great walkthrough for the game. My only regret is that I'm 3 months late to the party. AWESOME VIDEO! It also just made me buy Going Medieval!

This game looks more fun than just prebuilt buildings and walls you can make it complicated defence wall with out restrictions on how big you want your settlements or a simple one and you can make a custom compared with other games that are similar I wish people would jump and play more like this.
1. Because not everyone play going medieval 😅. People play rimworld for the abundance of mods or the dwarf fortress for more contents. 2. This still early access. Even after 1 year, it still not completed yet. People want a game that fully completed.
I can't remember being so entertained for a full 1 1/2 hours from a streamer before. The humour and your narration is first class. Keep making content...you are born for this.

"they can apparently go through diagonals" is the funniest shit ever heard since it seems so obvious that they would be able to but then you remember Rimworld and Dwarf Fortress, both similar colony building games, do not have diagonal movement💀
am i the only one that doesnt use roofs? i put everything in one castle and i have nothing but archers. people come to attack i shoot them as they run up on my crib. then we slaughter and eat them. Kinda like medieval Uber eats.

Good playthrough, but next time try making better use of land for defense. I used to build big walls, now I just cut off every path in except for 2-3. Then you just need 2-3 gatehouses which you can easily build 3-5 walls thick very quickly. And to be honest you wont need gatehouses till around the 7th-8th enemy raid. Simply using the chokepoints will fend off most attacks.
I was going to watch through the 1.5 hours and comment at the end but I had to stop and say this out loud. It is hilarious to me that this game calls the animal a 'Male' Cow. It is just a Bull devs. Cows are always female. Male Cattle = Bull, Female Cattle = Cow. Back to the amazing narration.

I wonder something, is there a reason why didn't you build your initial defenses on even higher ground for your archers ? this would give them longer range to shoot at these bad bad raiders :P ! Similarly, in the kill corridor, i'm used to include traps to slow them down, any reason why you don't include this early on when you reach the level 20 in construction :) ? Thanks! Archers get the same benefit from being 1 vs 4 levels up. After that, they lose the range bonus. I could have included traps, but slowing down enemies by a couple seconds doesn't matter that much when there's so many that they stream in regardless and when raids last hours anyways. At least to me, anyways. It'd definitely be a help, but I wasn't too worried about raids for most of the playthrough.

@@JustDontDie I actually went to double check, this was troubling me hehe, i also like to test things like you do :), and as I was saying, when you take 2 archers at the same position and two different elevations, the one at higher elevation does indeed have higher range :). (which makes sense right)

Here's the picture I'm using that I just used to test this: i.imgur.com/6E2o2rs.png Scott is out of range because he's on the same level, but Oriel and Eohric both have an increased range to hit their target (Oriel hits Melodie, Eohric hits Jeneur.) When I select either one, I can see the range and it's the same. Neither one, including Eohric on the higher ground, can hit the further target (So Eohric can't hit Boyd)
@@JustDontDie I did a similar test, two villagers with the same weapon, one at ground floor, one at 4th floor. Tried with longbow and crossbow, then in both cases the villager at 4th floor has a bigger yellow circle than the ground floor villager, when they are selected in draft mode I mean :).

I appreciate the message, but my view:sub ratio is actually pretty normal. 1.6M views to 14.4k subs is around 1:111, which is a pretty normal ratio for most to channels have. Doubly so because a lot of my views came from 2 vids that got pushed to a wider audience of gamers and not just people that already like/watch the game, which means a worse view:sub ratio. I don't have an upload schedule because this is a hobby, so if I don't want to work on making a video, I don't have to feel obligated to have one ready for next Friday or whatever the schedule would be.
Just discovered this game today, decided to look up some videos as I’m new to the genre and the tutorial doesn’t quite cover everything, that’s when I found this channel and I absolutely love your pacing, the story telling, it’s just awesome! Subbed!
I just bought the game a week ago so I started watching random videos to figure out how to start. Wasn't expecting to come across a contender for a Netflix medieval drama saga but I'm incredibly glad I did. Watching this and playing along side it makes me wish I had the speed powers of editing because I'm losing my mind with the 3x speed not being enough. Great video, you can totally see the effort you put in, definitely underrated.
Yeah, it doesn't have Rimworld's sheer amount of content/depth yet, but the base building is already much better because it's 3D and because of the systems they're putting in. Definitely a game to watch if not play outright already.

The storytelling was great there too, you were more self aware of it which sort of made me realize how much storytelling you are actually doing, which just increases the quality so much for me. It is almost like a visual novel/audiobook. You say it all so seamlessly that it sounds sort of like you are just winging it as things progress, but the quality is so high it sounds like you must have some sort of at least cliff notes for the recording... Whatever you are doing, it is great stuff. Thanks for the entertainment. Keep it up. I'll try and remember to throw some comments on the other vids for the algorithm. Good luck..... Oh this is the going medieval video. I am so lost. Thought I commented on the dwarf fortress video. I honestly loved that vid. No idea why I didn't comment on it. I don't think it's obvious at all! The walls meet nicely at the corner. There's not even a little gap or anything to seemingly slip through.

Sadly yes, there's no way to assign them 'guard posts' or anything like that. You just have to tell them all where to run.
