- Welcome to Sterlington, A place where the settlers are worked like dogs, For long hours in the heat and snow on very little food. All in the pursuit to build a glorious castle for the tyrant Sterling.
In this series we are playing on standard difficulty, on a hillside map running the a new life scenario. Starting with three settlers Alfred, Elenor and of course Sterling.
In this episode I put the construction of the Restitutionists temple on hold. As in the last episode we where forced to use the T.I.T.S. thus we have learned the T.I.T.S is rubbish and we need to upgrade the T.I.T.S. We need to make the T.I.T.S bigger and better, basically this is an entire episode of us fooling around with the T.I.T.S, finding the best solution to protect the T.I.T.S from invaders.
A New Life
The plague had ravaged the British Isles, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Untold millions went to an early grave. And those left standing were plunged into poverty, brutally scarred by the horrors that they had witnessed. Nothing would ever be the same again.
As the earth quickened in spring of the year 1353, Sterling, Elenor and Alfred set off into the wilderness to claim a piece of the land as their own, as was their right, in the eyes of God and under the Law. Here, they may lay down the foundations for some kind of future. Perhaps hope will follow.
Good land is there for the taking, In all four corners of this once mighty land, citizens are rebuilding in the hope that the horrors of the past few years can be left behind. It's possible that there will be fighting, drought, sickness, hunger but what of it?
'Life goes on,' says Elenor, 'and so must we.
Into a landscape of rolling hills and ancient, crumbling forts the companions trekked. Each ascent rewarded Alfred with a view that stretched for many leagues. No enemy approach would go unseen, he thought. They built a camp that would, in time, become the settlement of Sterlington.

Sadly in a later episode it didn't go to plan. Though that seems to be a running trend for me.

Variety and ascetics is something Castle Sterlington is sorely missing. Just a little too one dimensioned being made primarily out of limestone blocks. I think we need to do more weekend projects to liven up the place. Bang in a decking here, a pergola there. Should do the trick.

Tend to find archery positions above two levels greater than the targets have field of view problems.
I've had mixed experiences. In this series they had trouble firing from the top of the timber fort, 3 levels high. Yet the gate house currently is the same height and they have no issues.
I like the two textures they tell a story. One implies the opulence of the society. It matches the excess of the aqueduct and the waterfall wall. Of course it is the part of the tower where they live. Meanwhile while the taller tower demonstrates it is purely utilitarian. Even down to its interior.
If we didn't witness the whole thing being made historians would think the taller tower was the original and that the shorter tower was added in a later era where they place the construction of the aqueduct and Great Wall of Sterlington. The old tower would be historically regarded as the "Old Sterlington Tower." "All that remains after the Great Fire of Sterlington. Sounds like you have been doing your research reading the chronicles of Sterlington. Truth be told not sure you can trust those records as they are written by Sterling himself. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story I suppose. For instance in the chronicles it states that the french where suspected of sabotage, starting the great fire of Sterlington. Though I have it on good authority that the fires where in fact accidentally started by sterling himself, during a drinking night of tom foolery. I guess you can't trust everything you read.
@@thesterlingplays well the sterling builds a nice castle complex. I've been playing the game from the early days . I just notice i can put like 5 armored doors to my entrance and my archers take out everything, and the guys with the swords just just sit back in a tower behind my archers. I don't have the skill to design what the sterling has though! Its a decent game to play while sitting and watching tv ,once you get the lazy people to cook and farm.
how did you not notice that they were not going to go for the easiest entrance. your going to destroy them before the catapults are going to do any real damage.
I think they really need to make more tweaks to the game.
Hi ALT-vt3gb I didn't notice because I'm a bloody idget. In this series so far, the trebuchets have not been much of a threat to the castle. In my next series I'll definitely need to step up the difficulty.
@@thesterlingplays hmm I dont know if my last comment posted, well I'll say it again. The sterling knows how to build a mighty nice castle complex! I don't even want to know your planning behind it. My guys have been going for a bit. stick everyone up high and let the archers do the work. Get the lazy people to do some cooking hopefully and some other lazy people to do some gardening when they are not all in the basement drinking! keep it up!

If the T I T S are now entirely enveloped be defenses then maybe flooring to increase response time would be a good idea, if u haven’t already done so
Flooring in the T.I.T.S is a great idea. I'm little embarrassed I didn't think of that.

We could speculate all day. I could analyse the analytics and test different thumbnails. but I guess at the end of the day we will never truly know.
@@thesterlingplays It may be the tunnels, I’ve learned from Furze that tunnels attract great swathes of people, so maybe viewers have come to watch, point, and exalt in the majesty of your T I T S? 🤷
Its a good possibility. They are great tunnels.
