Think your right about the vanilla, had the same issue. Have had the error a few times, all I could work out is; it seems to be something to do with how the blade sits when the rod comes down to spin, slightly off, error, it then seems to correct itself once switched back on. Have made a few, made a mint with dark chocolate chips, only used half the sugar with the coconut cream, used the light and 1 spin worked really well. Only problem was, used peppermint oil not extract so ratio was off ( very, very minty lol ). Finding in Ireland its very hard to buy certain things, been online and have ordered oat cream from Spain, not one shop here sells it.
Sonnet has requested choc mint, I have some essence coming to give that a go for her, I really like choc mint too, so that will be fun! Yeah, I thought maybe it was me, not lining the blade up properly, but whether I fix it or not, it still errors that first time, no idea! Might need to make some glycerine based vanilla, or make some vanilla paste, I have vanilla beans here ready to be turned into something! lol
I think your ice creams came out great. A vanilla coffee syrup I was thinking about but I think it may be too sickly? Wait until summer for the demand for the ice cream lol. That beef from Costco certainly had great cuts in it. After having gone off lamb last year, when I was at Costco a couple of months back, I bought a large portion of lamb and we have just finished it all. Consensus was it was yum. If it’s at a good price again next time I will grab some more there or elsewhere. I made a beef satay stir fry hoping the big quantity would cover two meals. Nope. It was such a hit it was cobbled up in one meal with seconds and thirds. Though there was not enough rice to cover multiple serves of course. Now will be the test to duplicate it as it was just a chuck this and that in affair. Sometimes they are the best meals. But also the amount of food consumed in these colder months really I’ve got to factor in as well. Thinking of your beef stroganoff; yep the beans and broccoli is a sad contender from freezing. I’ve had the same thing. Too much water content retained and it becomes mush. I am often leaving food items out in the kitchen at the moment, relating to what you said, I am saying the same thing; that the kitchen is cold or if not colder than the fridge (or freezer) at the moment. I am looking forward to you taking us with you in your inventory check and upcoming big shop. Cheers
Yes, I was thinking some flavoured syrups might work, but as you say, maybe a bit much, I'm not sure, I'm going to keep experimenting! I eye the lamb off at Costco most months, I love the thought of lamb, but I've had some really bland stuff lately :S Hehe, I rarely can make a meal the same twice... whoops! So much food eaten atm! I have since tried the unblanched broccoli and beans and they were SO SO much better! I'm going to keep on experimenting though. Heh, its good for a lot of things, though not bread dough!
I don't have a Ninja Creami, however you have inspired me to make ice cream in TMX. Yes, the TMX isn't an ice cream maker with a compressor. Will see what I can make and the family enjoys.
You can make fairly good ice cream in teh TMX, by freezing it in ice cube trays and then whipping it frozen! I just love the ease to make 'LOTS' of ice cream with the creami hehe :D
Thankyou for that tip. My husband and I are empty nesters so I don't want to buy another appliance. ( did I actually put that in writing?) I love kitchen appliances 🙄
@@michelemcgill1720 hehe, I can relate, and I try not to buy things I don't need, but I adore ice cream, and the TMX and even the compressor machine I bought both work, but only in small batches, whereas with the creami I can have ice cream every night and so can the kids, a diff flavour a night, with next to no extra planning hehe. It's definitely a luxury though!
Would you ever consider doing a video or even answering a comment of what are your favourite things to make in the thermomix? Things that are genuinely better or easier made in the thermomix
I definitely need to address it a bit, I think the biggest issue with it is I need to collate footage over a couple of weeks, to really show the versatility and the way I use it and I forget to hold onto footage like that! I will definitely work on it! For me, I use my Thermomix as a sous chef mostly, I love that it allows me to make things that I would normally have to stand at a stove and stir! We make a 'naked' risotto, a plain one with no dairy and I make two full jugs worth (500g of rice in each) and then flavour it and add grilled chicken etc, that is a fave meal here for my kids in the TMX! I use it a lot for sauces, I made the kids some mac and cheese to go with some birria the other night, I used a jar of my vegetable soup off the shelf and pureed that as the liquid for the 'cheese' sauce, then throw the flour and butter and everything else in, turn it on and when the bell rings, cheese sauce! Same with custards, I love that I can throw everything in and have custard in the end!
@OurSmallFootprint completely understand it would be more work since it's more of a dedicated topic video. But I'm sure others would find it interesting too. Either people looking into getting a thermomix or people who just bought one. From your videos, you seem to use it when it's actually adding value. Compared to when I search for a thermomix video, they seem to sometimes use it for the sake of using it. If that makes sense. That's why I thought you doing a video would be interesting. Also the risotto sounds great as we need to cook dairy free too. Thank you.
The blanched green beans, my grandmother always put them in a sauce pan with a little water with salt in it. Put beans in the pot, low heat, with a lid and let come to a boil. When they come apart and good and hot, drain water , add butter, salt and pepper. Not trying to tell you how to cook, just telling you how my granny did it, and they were so good.
Thank you! I'll give it a go, because we have not been happy with how I've done them so far! and it kind of makes sense to do it in water to keep them juicy. I don't know if I've started them in cold water either, only put them in boiling water, so that might make a difference!
Hello..everyone out there!..Nyssa, she's here..here to share..Kwozies..Aussies and Kiwis alike..we speak quickly..as fast as light!..regards Karolyn Melbourne Australia
I don't think you talk too fast at all! Some people just like a whinge! Love a good stroganoff! I have mine with spicy ramen noodles or buttered pasta! This grocery haul is going to be huge!
I've seen a lot of people use it, I might grab some when I'm on my trip to give a go, but I haven't checked if it is dairy based or not! The lite jelly is apparently a good one to use too, if low sugar is wanted but for that added lessening of setting into crystals.
Goody goody gumdrops, just back from walking the dog, and here you are. Cold outside here on the Gold Coast 12 degrees, it will be a lot colder where you are. What was the dark brown liquid you poured in the stroganoff please?
I loved watching you do the creamy stuff. I have been wanting one. I can't really justify it, however, I need high protein meals since my gastric bypass, so it could be heaps cheaper than buying protein icecreams
It would definitely work out a whole lot cheaper! but it is an outlay, it was only because my b'day and mothersday fell in that same week that I could justify it and I still felt guilty lol. But we're spinning up a full pint and a single pint just about every night these days, and I love it hehe.
Another great video. I always leave in awe of what you achieve. I don't know if this would help with your broccoli but have you tried baking it? We have found frozen broccoli sprayed lightly with olive oil and seasoned with salt bakes up quite nicely - the key is to not let it get too crisp in the oven!
I will give it a go, we have another few bags of blanched stuff in the freezer to get through, so we'll see if that helps the texture! I didn't blanch it extensively, but maybe it was just too much, I dunno. We have tried the unblanched stuff though and I MUCH prefer it, which is kinda good, because its a lot less work for me to get it in the freezer!
Nyssa, I love listening to you talk. I have always loved the Australian accent. Also, the speed you talk is fine. I don't want to listen to someone who talks like a turtle. So forget what those people say and keep being you.
Hi Nyssa, I was thinking you should add Thermomix to your titles and hashtags. Might get more people to your channel. Your food looks amazing as always.
hehe, I keep filling the tubs, I bought 15 all up lol, and diff flavour in each each time I do a bulk batch, which i think is one of the highlights of the machine! being able to do single serves of flavours, never get bored! :D
You are seriously an inspiration. Thanks for sharing. I'm curious, and of course, if you don't want to answer, no pressure..... do all of your children have issues with cows' milk, or is it just simpler to do the same for all? Me and 2 others of my parents' 5 children also had milk issues, but we have mostly all out grown it. I can tolerate things now, I just can't have raw dairy for a bunch of days in a row, or it bothers me some.
5 of the 6 have issues, the youngest never seemed to! they had varying degrees of reactions to it, some more serious than others, but in the end, it just seemed easier to keep them all dairy free (Darryl is lactose intolerant, the kids are CMPI), we used to see an allergist fairly regularly with the twins, and we introduced fermented dairy at his behest, and they all seem to tolerate that ok, yoghurt and milk kefir etc, but I haven't really tested out much in the way of actual dairy with them, it just seems easier to keep the way we've always gone, and as they get older they can test their limits! though I have stopped being as rigid about 'may contain dairy' etc especially in things we get from the hamper etc.
@OurSmallFootprint make sense why it would just be easiest to keep them all dairy free. They probably don't miss ot with all of the wonderful food you make them. They are lucky kidos!
Can I ask the purpose of the creami given you have an ice cream churn? They seem to be a real fad atm but I have the KA ice cream attachment so I’m not sure what the creami would offer?
Mostly its ease of making it in bulk. With the churn the custard has to be chilled before churning, which is fine, this has to be frozen for 24 hours, but it means I can only make one or two at a time and chill them and they HAVE to be churned in a short period, eggs and all that, and of course, only churning one flavour at a time. Whereas with the creami I have been making single serves, for just me, full serves for the kids to share, some for Darryl at times in flavours he likes, and I bought a whole lot of extra tubs, so I can spend an hour, mix up all 15 tubs that I bought (if I have room in the freezer) and then stick them in the freezer, then at any time I want, on a whim, I can have ice cream. The stuff from the churn is only a single serve really, if I do two batches back to back, which is a bit of a pita mind you, then we might get 2/3 days out of it if we serve small, but its never as good a texture after its been frozen again for 24 hours plus after the churning either. With the creami if you put it back in the freezer, you can put it back in the machine next time you want to eat it :D The other thing is the other options, like I did one the other day for the kids, a jar of my pie apples off the shelf, some coconut cream, a bit of maple and cinnamon and just filled the pint up. Froze it, and then when I used it it was apple pie ice cream, but without the eggs or the higher fat content etc that a churn needs to make good consistency ice cream. Does that make sense ? I did have to talk myself into it.... lol
Have an Ice cream maker ( small one ) and the Creami. When using the ice cream maker only allows one batch and the machine really needs to reset before it can be re-used, also I need containers to keep what is made. The Creami allows you to make a multitude of desserts ( will say desserts as it does not create ice cream the same way ) What you make you can keep in the containers and put back in the freezer if not all used and at a later stage put back in and respin. The creami deluxe has various options for dairy and non dairy style ice cream as well as drinks. Machine defines it as scoopable and drinkable. What sold the machine to me was, the variety of what it can make and you can purchase extra pot/cups. Added bonus is, it only uses 800w an hour in energy.
No, no heat source in the kitchen, its out on the patio, we did buy a wood cook stove to set up there, but we need to redo the roof etc first, so its not in use currently! I use my Thermomix for most things, but I also have a tribest personal blender which is a bit similar to a ninja :)

Lol, that's a fun way to put it isn't it! :D
The beef stroganoff/stew looked delicious. I'm with you on wanting carrots with it.
It adds a lovely sweetness!
Happy Birthday. ❤
Thank you! :D
Goody goody gumdrops, just back from walking the dog, and here you are.
Cold outside here on the Gold Coast 12 degrees, it will be a lot colder where you are.
What was the dark brown liquid you poured in the stroganoff please?
It's not too bad this morning, there's lots of cloud cover! so its 5 outside,! it was -4 last night though!
@@OurSmallFootprint Mothers, we always feel the guilt!! unnecessarily so!
I love watching you ❤️😊, gives me so much inspiration ☺️, by the way you talk at just the right speed 🤣. I also have been told I speak too fast 🙈
Hehe, thank you! :D
I want to get all the info in there, but not drag it out too much hehe :D
Hi Nyssa, I was thinking you should add Thermomix to your titles and hashtags. Might get more people to your channel. Your food looks amazing as always.
I always have thermomix / tm6 in the tags, but I do need to do some videos outlining some of the main things I use it for I reckon!
It sounds like you are running one of those ice cream shops with 20 different flavours😂❤😂
hehe, I keep filling the tubs, I bought 15 all up lol, and diff flavour in each each time I do a bulk batch, which i think is one of the highlights of the machine! being able to do single serves of flavours, never get bored!
While your egg supply is low, could you try using custard powder??
I could def use corn flour or my version of custard powder (I make one dairy free) and get a similar result! I just really like egg custards heh
With the creami if you put it back in the freezer, you can put it back in the machine next time you want to eat it :D
The other thing is the other options, like I did one the other day for the kids, a jar of my pie apples off the shelf, some coconut cream, a bit of maple and cinnamon and just filled the pint up.
Do you not have a heat source in kitchen? What brand of blender do you have?
No, no heat source in the kitchen, its out on the patio, we did buy a wood cook stove to set up there, but we need to redo the roof etc first, so its not in use currently!
I use my Thermomix for most things, but I also have a tribest personal blender which is a bit similar to a ninja :)
Do you watch other TH-cam channels. I just found a sweet couple in Ohio US More than Farmers ’ they are a family of 6 who homestead and grow and preserve food.
I browse a lot! I don't have a huge amount of time avail to watch lol, but I love to browse and see other families as well :D. I will search for them :D
Ive never noticed you talking too fast, l enjoy everything you say xxx
I've had quite a few comments about it over the years lol.
I don’t like frozen bananas either. The texture is weird. I like bananas but frozen they don’t taste right
It's kind of almost slimy!
