Hello Jamie, I’ve been watching your vlogmas decluttering roulette everyday and I just wanted to tell you that I think it’s really amazing the gift you are giving your self for christmas. Even in clutter, when I look at your house it’s obvious that you have great taste, nice furniture, fun collections, a great love for beautiful vintage objects and I can’t wait for you to look at your house and see the beautiful spaces you will have created for yourself and for your family. Sometimes it’s hard for mothers because the responsibility of the state of the home lay mostly on their shoulders and I admire that you are doing the best you can, while always respecting your husband and childrens things and having a lot of other things on your plate like all mothers do. You are doing great ! 😊
Oh Valentine, that encouragement is so very nice of you! Honestly, one of the most humbling comments I’ve read for a long time. People can really call themselves lucky if they have the honor of having you in their lives 💜
I liked the longer video and watched the whole thing. The cupboard looks lovely and good job changing the canisters to a complete set, love the blue pots on display also! I agree with the apron and pot holders only on that rack. Thanks for the entertainment and inspiration!
Coffee cups are accessible in that location. See if you have another basket type container (similar to cat food and tea bins) to put coffee cups in that will slide out easily. Then, it's a clean line visually like your blue pots.
I’m really enjoying this series, thank you! And I agree that you should keep the coffee mugs you want to keep and that people who are minimalist should not force that on others. If your clutter threshold is higher and you use multiple mugs, then keep them and enjoy them. Congrats on a job well done.
I notice that you felt the need to POINT OUT that you're able to walk right over and put it where it belongs... Nice to know the novelty isn't wearing off yet, Jamie.👍
That is what gives me peace now! You don’t realize how much stuff is a pain in the butt when the house is disheveled and disorganized like this, but once it’s done, so much that was a little bit of a struggle before becomes easy!
I’m really happy to hear that! Once Vlogmas is over this is going to be more of the style of my videos - at least most of the time. Longer, more stream of consciousness talking about my thought process and decisions ❤️🩵
Suggestion: move one of the mint colored bins to the top shelf to put the mugs in, to bring that color down and kinda hide the mugs. And then you could get away with replacing it with just a white one for inside the cabinet. And it wouldn’t be all that much work to just slide the bin out and put the mugs away!
I love your turquoise addiction - I have that too - turquoise, teal, ice blue - all of it. I have pops of those colors around my house. It always make me think of aquamarine and blue topaz!
I know these declutters are both mentally and physically taxing, but you are doing great! I’m not pulling from a fishbowl but you have inspired me to look for small areas that I can do, quickly, to reduce the amount of stuff! It feels so good! Thank You for bringing us along!
Wow! It looks great! I especially love the top of the cabinet with those lovely canisters and cute holiday mugs. I've been busy shopping for the holiday so I haven't done much decluttering lately but you've got me thinking of what I want to tackle next when I get back into it. Have a lovely night! 😊🧡🎄🐦
That’s definitely the goal - in a lot of cases there is no “away” location which is how things get so messed up in the first place. Eliminating a lot of stuff and clearing out the insides of cabinets, etc to make more “away” space has really been helping to have a specific spot for everything.
You can find large hutches on the classifieds that have a thin profile that would work in this spot perfectly. IKEA also has slim profile shelving units w/ doors that can be found used.
But if they're tall, they have to be on wheels to access the electrical panel. If I could just put a hutch here or something that would be perfect, but then we'd never be able to get to the breaker box.
Dear Jamie, I try to provide a perspective: probably there is someone looking out for the rest of their set. Maybe - if you don’t use it yourself - you can help someone else completing a set by selling it ❤ We have heirloom dishes we’re always happy to be able to replace broken cups or plates.
It looks great Jamie, it did look like hard work, my knees would hate it. May I suggest a tray under the kettle, and coffee grinder, then put the x-mas mugs in front. Trays always make things look intentional, and organize, maybe one that wood fit to the front edge of the cabinet. I’m really enjoying this series. 🥰
@ Oh that’s great, I thought it would also hide the peeling, and water bumps for you. Another thought, can the coffee beans go into the coffee canister? Maybe find a lidded glass jar to put inside it to keep them fresh and away from the plastic. It would give you more room for the cups, and since you need to stack them someone else suggested using the blue bin like a drawer. Great and safe idea. Just a reminder, you’re amazing, and powerful. 🥰
I agree with all of the other comments, put the mugs in one of the teal baskets like a drawer and then put the cat stuff in any other basket, because it’s behind closed doors.
It’s is ok to do this all in layers. You will come back through and take out another layer. Like assessing the small appliances maybe after you go through your kitchen. You are doing a great job!
Great job! I love the fishbowl method & want to use it for all of the little chores I need to do around the house that I've been putting off. I like how you focus on smaller areas to get quick wins. It really does make a big difference over time. Love this series! Keep up the amazing work!
I would put the coffe cups in the cupboard and have the Dutch oven and cookbooks on display 😊 If you put the cat food one shelf down and have the mugs in the top shelf it would look nicer but function the same 😊
I might try that since I was so hesitant to hide the cookbooks anyway! For some reason I’m resisting putting the coffee cups in the cupboard, but really most people have their mugs in a kitchen cupboard so this shouldn’t be that hard for us 😂 they won’t get dusty in there either.
It is amazing how you just powered through this, and I love the little motivating win in the middle and the sudden end. Hope the „hum, that was faster than I feared“ is the muscle that got trained and not the „Ai haaaaaate thiiiiiis!!“ 😃 I would watch you in a livestream, so the longer the video is, the happier I am. It looks really nice! And once you calmed your home, you will find the perfect furniture for this place I’m sure.
Excellent job Jamie. Congrats. I kinda agree with Nettie. Hiding the mugs and adding something less numerous like the popcorn bowls or even just the cookbooks in that middle area might work. Thanks for doing this. It’s really helping gear myself up for a major decluttering 2025 goal for me. Doing these smaller projects rather than the overwhelming task of a whole room etc is really helpful for my mental motivation. ❤️❤️
I don’t think anyone should feel shame about keeping stuff when they’re decluttering! I catch myself doing it so I really wanted to say that part out loud for others to hear. 🩵
I think I may have an extra one after I declutter my kitchen 🤞🏼 I don’t think target sells these exact ones anymore (they’re many years old) but I might be able to find something similar.
@@Jamie_Chaotic If you got a black or dark brown bin to put in the middle with the coffee cups, the color would blend in with the cabinet and look neat. (If you can't find one to match your current ones)
Since the stand mixer and cookbooks are there, could you use the canisters as named, including flour and then devote the door on the right to coffee bar stuff(including odd mugs, tea, honey, popcorn) baking stuff behind left door and cat stuff in the center in the cute teal baskets. Then it’s a baking center/coffee bar/cat home!🙌🏻
That is a funny place for a breaker box. Wow that area looks so good & love the canisters great job you will smile for a few days every time you see it. I delcutterd1 kitchen shelf yesterday & packed up a donation box of crap I had piled up small steps add up.
Ohhhh em geeee that was a satisfying one. So sorry it almost broke you! If you want…you could put away a few of the coffee cups you have in rotation next to cook books and just keep a few on display in the middle. They don’t have to all be out on display. Just a suggestion. I get how you want the peaceful airy look!
Great idea! I think you’re right… I’m about to put them all away in my Christmas bin and just have the Christmas mugs out. I only have 6 Christmas mugs and I bet I’ll be much more at peace with that look. So after Christmas when I’m putting the regular mugs back, I think having them in a rotation of “on display” vs “away” will work much better for me.
We do movie night every weekend but this popcorn stuff lasts a lonnnng time! They haven’t made popcorn in a while, so I’ll remind Blake about it. It’s something he does with them, I hate popcorn 😂
We are two person household and we decided 6 mugs were perfect. Two are my husband’s favorite, two are my favorite, and two are just extra. But we both use all six of them.
That seems like a really reasonable amount. I have 6 Christmas mugs and am about to just have those out and put the others away in the holiday bin. I haven’t even really decorated for Christmas yet except the tree. So while we live with just 6 mugs for a month or so I can assess if that’s a better amount for us (I have a feeling it will be just right - the kids don’t use the mugs except this time of year for hot cocoa).
I feel the pain of small big jobs like this. I definitely understand not being able to do some decluttering. I usually move everything into a laundry basket or box and sort at the kitchen table.
I look so forward to watching your videos❤ I don't know how I missed this one, but I did😮 I am so glad I found your channel this is so inspiring and so exciting I've never look forward to a video each day as I have with yours❤ blessings from Massachusetts❤❤ I have a vintage bureau that I use for my coffee bar in my kitchen and I pull it out a little ways cause my heater is behind it, it works out well for me❤
Jamie, could you invest in a shallow wall unit with tall, closed side cupboards and a low center piece? The side units would help solve the kitchen overflow and the low center would be your coffee bar and also not interfere with your electrical panel. Also, turn your mugs upside down to help eliminate dust inside them.
I would love to find a piece of furniture that works better like that. There isn’t a lot of width to work with that doesn’t block the walkways, and the breaker box isn’t centered on the wall. A lot of things make it tricky to find something just right for this space. And I can’t hand shelves either because the wall is metal (I think - or maybe even brick) with drywall on top and nothing nails into it more than 1/2” into the drywall. It’s a tough one! If this was a home we owned I’d be investing in new electrical, moving the breaker box, and getting a custom built-in made 🤣🤣 so I guess it’s better we rent so I don’t have to spend that much money lol
Try grouping the three red mugs in front of the clear pot on the right. It would perk that area up while letting the teal canisters and mixer shine! ( Also the red in front of teal is a little jarring!)🤣😂😅
Red and teal is my favorite color combo 😂 probably why I like them there so much! But I’m going to be moving them anyway once I put away the regular mugs when I officially decorate for Christmas
🤣 my grandma did a version of Swedish death cleaning when she was older - I don’t know if she knew it was called that but it’s definitely what she was doing. She had one mug a couple plates, a water glass or two… it worked really well for her to manage less in her old age (she was in her 90s) so I can see the benefits in certain circumstances 😅
It looks great! You’re such a great motivator…I understand why your mixer is there. (No need to explain). It would be nice if u could remove it (since it isn’t used there). U could then move your mugs out of the cupboard.
@Jamie_Chaotic don't buy cheap ones. They have different sizes depending on the bottoms on the furniture. Plus you don't want to balance the weight if you go for a taller piece.
Well done. Just a quick question. When you put stuff in your sell pile, do they actually get listed and sell in a good time frame? Or would it just be better to donate them and get it all out of your house?
For the average person I wouldn’t really recommend a sell pile. I only have a sell pile for the vintage things because I have a vintage reselling business. That sale pile is now “inventory” for my business. I have a huge amount now that I’m going through my own collection and I took this month off of working so that I could work on the house and make these videos. (For the last few months I’ve been completely neglecting the house to focus solely on selling, which is in part how things got so bad around here lately). After the holidays I’ll kick up my reselling business again, and generally speaking I do cycle through inventory relatively quickly. And now that I have all this new inventory from my own collections, I don’t need to go shopping or spend money for my business for at least the first few months of the year which will be amazing 😁
You have a great channel and you are going to be successful. As I watch I was thinking that there will come a time very quickly that its not about organization so much as a person just has too much and one get weary from trying to manage stuff. It took me a while to sort that out and once I did things got way easier.
Yep, that’s exactly why I’m doing this. Too much stuff makes the organization impossible. And I function much better when everything is meticulously organized.
If you only fill the coffee container halfway with the sticks, are you able to close it? That way they are more diagonal in the container instead of straight up.
That’s what I ended up doing, which is why I kept that other little turquoise basket thingy with the rest of the sticks. After we use them up I’ll get shorter ones and eliminate that little basket altogether 🩵
Hi Jamie, I was thinking if you got a cabinet that would fit on the wall next to the breaker box. So something not as wide and maybe taller. Loved this video. Hope you’re feeling better. ❤❤❤❤ oh I got rid of all my cookbooks except Betty Crocker. 👩🍳🍪
The other problem that I failed to mention is that wall is not made out of drywall and studs. I think it’s some sort of metal sheeting with drywall on top. So I can’t nail anything into it more than 1/2” and it’s just going into drywall. Major reason why I didn’t want mugs hanging on that rack anymore, it is literally barely hanging on to the wall 😂
I’m loving this series . I’m all on board, unfortunately I have two adult children still at home and a husband that are all clutter borders, so no matter what I get rid of they bring twice as much in.
That’s a real struggle! Maybe you can carve out one room or even a little corner somewhere that is just for you where all their stuff is off limits. A little sanctuary!
Hey sweet friend. Remember, a bakers rack is soooooo cluttering to the mind. If it’s more confined and behind doors, it will ultimately be better for your mental health.
Yes, I agree. The bakers rack I was looking at did have doors up high and down below and two shelves. But now that I’ve decluttered this stuff I really don’t think I need it. It’s fine the way it is. I’d rather keep my small kitchen appliances in the garage where I have them, but just in a better organized way. That way I don’t have an ugly blender, rice cooker, and crockpot staring me in the face 😂
Ok , hear me out .. put the popcorn bowl in the center on the middle shelf so it goes blue , clear, blue. The mugs go behind the door on the top shelf and tea on the second shelf. 😂. It looks great already I’m just saying. That’s the Virgo ♍️ in me coming out.
The burning question that remains: what happened to the waffle iron? I personally like the longer videos/projects. Also, instead of YOU completing the canister set, what if you selling the pieces of your canister set completes other peoples sets. Last - was one of your keeper "special" cookbooks the "I Hate to Cook" Cookbook by Peggy something?🧐😄
The waffle iron has a spot in the garage where I keep the kitchen overflow/small appliances. That area will DEFINITELY be a video all on its own, and part of my kitchen decluttering series which I’m already planning in my head 😂 I do know that my canisters could potentially complete someone else’s set and I will sell incomplete pieces of sets of things quite often for this reason. I just want the complete set for myself, I need to have it, see it, in its completeness in my home. It’s a little wacko, believe me I know 😂 And yes, it’s the I Hate To Cook Book by Peg Bracken 😂😂 it’s hilarious!
You did great! I like the longer video's and it's good that you don't leave the put away, sell, trash crap there on the floor. It would defeat your purpose of decluttering.
So weird that they didn't put the breaker box in the garage. Mine is down in the basement, but in the middle of the wall lol, so thankfully, it's not built out otherwise it would be a weird spot.
I really enjoy your Roulette! Keep it up! But I don’t think the coffee beans will make it behind the sticks ……. to much to move every time. You might want to reconsider
We’ll see how it goes, I just needed to get this space done and after we live with it for a while we can reevaluate how it functions. So far so good, though. We’ve been taking the sticks and coffee out and placing them on top, do the coffee ritual, then put them both back. The sticks also have the brush to get the grounds out of the coffee grinder, so both things are “taken out” and being used if that makes any sense 😂
you're explaining your ideas for this spot, remember that this seeems to be mostly kitchen items, and you have animals. so hair- everywhere. personally I would want something closed, plus it seems less cluttered when cabinets close.
I enjoy your talking through the declutters, letting us know your mindset. But when you use my Lords name in vain it stabs me in the heart. I know it's unintentional.
I apologize for that. I’m not religious so it doesn’t carry the weight for me that it does for other people. I will try to be more considerate in the future and stick to my usual cuss words instead 😂 (jk I need to clean up my mouth in general, cussing too!)

You just keep surprising me 💪🏼👏👍😍
It was a long one. But so satisfying 🤗
Too long, it took forever to edit 😅 I realized wearing my little microphone makes me talk more and makes the video longer haha.. 😆
Use the Flour canister for the hot cocoa packets.
I put the coffee filters in there 😁
Great job! I prefer longer videos.
Thank you for the feedback! I personally like to watch longer videos too.
Yes filters and sticks in blue container
Yay
The dollar tree sells popsicle sticks in the craft section. 200 for $1.25. They are shorter
❤🎉 great job
@@Jamie_Chaotic 👍
One mug? Awe come on now, where's their sense of adventure? 😂
Fabulous🎉🎉🎉💪👏
It looks great! You’re such a great motivator…I understand why your mixer is there. (No need to explain). It would be nice if u could remove it (since it isn’t used there). U could then move your mugs out of the cupboard.
Hopefully it can get into the kitchen once I work that nightmare of an area. I have a spot in mind so hopefully it works out that way!
Best video! 😍
Possible future furniture idea, maybe you could use the coasters that go under the feet/legs then the piece of whatever you choose will move easier.
Do those really work to slide heavy furniture around easily? Our breaker blows rather frequently, I must say. Especially in the summer.
@Jamie_Chaotic don't buy cheap ones. They have different sizes depending on the bottoms on the furniture. Plus you don't want to balance the weight if you go for a taller piece.
Great job!
Well done!
Maybe put the mugs behind a door and the Christmas mugs on the top shelf
Looking good 👍 👌 😎 ❤❤❤
If you only fill the coffee container halfway with the sticks, are you able to close it? That way they are more diagonal in the container instead of straight up.
That’s what I ended up doing, which is why I kept that other little turquoise basket thingy with the rest of the sticks. After we use them up I’ll get shorter ones and eliminate that little basket altogether 🩵
I like long videos!
God Jul från Sofie i Sverige 🇸🇪 🎅
@ oh that makes sense. I love your canisters and definitely 💯 keep them. I love your humor.
What about a MCM long narrow dresser/ buffet for your coffee bar and you can have a piece of glass cut to protect the top? 😊
Yikes! My thighs are killing me watching you! It was a beast, but you conquered it. Great job! Take care, Linda 🦋
It was pretty uncomfortable! Thanks Linda!
@Jamie_Chaotic 👍
My husband is a one mug person. I am most definitely not!
You are doing a great job. Keep it up. Question....do you have any jadeite? I collect it and I adore it..
I don’t collect it myself, but I sell it a lot! My aunt has a jadeite collection too so when I come across any I usually offer it to her first haha
I feel like that would look really good!
When sorting something down low, do you have a little ottoman or stool to sit on?
Im new here and i like cleaning while listening to you.
That area will DEFINITELY be a video all on its own, and part of my kitchen decluttering series which I’m already planning in my head 😂
I do know that my canisters could potentially complete someone else’s set and I will sell incomplete pieces of sets of things quite often for this reason. I just want the complete set for myself, I need to have it, see it, in its completeness in my home. It’s a little wacko, believe me I know 😂
And yes, it’s the I Hate To Cook Book by Peg Bracken 😂😂 it’s hilarious!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You did great! I like the longer video's and it's good that you don't leave the put away, sell, trash crap there on the floor. It would defeat your purpose of decluttering.
Totally!! Thanks for the feedback on the longer videos!
So weird that they didn't put the breaker box in the garage. Mine is down in the basement, but in the middle of the wall lol, so thankfully, it's not built out otherwise it would be a weird spot.
This place was built with bubble gum and toothpicks so I’m not surprised 😂
❤
I’d like to look at your mid-century modern (vintage) items you have for sale. Can you provide a link? Thank you.
If you head over to my other channel Mid-Century Wasted I have links in the videos to my selling platforms. 😁
@@Jamie_Chaotic Good for you. It would never work for lazy me 😁
put the mugs in a basket?
As I was editing this video I was thinking that too. I might even already have one that would work. 🤔 good idea!
you're explaining your ideas for this spot, remember that this seeems to be mostly kitchen items, and you have animals. so hair- everywhere. personally I would want something closed, plus it seems less cluttered when cabinets close.
We don’t have a big problem with fur, honestly. The cats are short hair so it’s really not bad. Dust and my own hair are a much bigger problem 😂
Ok well. I like old ones better
Old ones of what?
@Jamie_Chaotic canisters
