I am so excited for you to have found a stove! Given how brilliantly you manage with the bbq, I know even more amazing meals are in your future with the oven. I am so pleased you are one step closer to easier days in the kitchen.
Nyssa you could turn any meal into gold !!!!! your family is so spoilt and forever great full for your expertise in the kitchen , plus a big bonus , no processed take away food...👏👏😋😋😋
Darylly needs to get a job on The Price Is Right. I don't know if you get that show in Australia, but when the women wave their hand over the item up for bid, it reminds me of Daryll doing it. 😂That stir fry looked delicious! I would love to take one of your homemade buns and slather butter on it when it comes out of the oven. YUMMY!
You amaze me how you can throw stuff together and make it look so scrummy, it doesnt help i watch your videos in the evening (UK) and i go to bed hungry😂😂🇬🇧🇬🇧
Also, one last post lol you are always explaining the struggles you have with the grill and not having this or that, that most of us are used to having but you make it look LOVELY in the end Nyssa you really do put out a great video always!!
Thanks Darryl ❤❤ it makes my day. Love the hand flourishes as always. Nyssa you truly amaze me, you are naturally brilliant with food and i feel educated as well as entertained every video so i always get so chuffed when you come up on my feed. Makes my day xxx
Thank you for the ramen demo. It’s horribly hot here in Virginia and that seems perfect and salty and savory for this heat without me slaving over a hot stove for too long. Easily adaptable to my vegan diet. Congratulations on the new stove. I envy you. And boy do I envy you your cooler weather. I hate the heat.
I love that it is a great base, easily adaptable in a lot of ways, we do a spicy peanut one as well that is super tasty too, ramen has become a staple here!
Maybe wrapping fleecey material round your starter jars would help. My Arabic friend always wraps proofing dough in layers and layers of blankets which really surprised me but I tried it with yeasted dough for flat breads and it made a huge difference. Looking forward to seeing what you get up to with the new stove.
I just had a thought about using my wonderbag... hrmm! :D. Though I do like that I can see through the plastic window in the current container without disturbing anything.
Thanks for the details for how you make ramen. It appeals to me because it can so easily be scaled up or down. I could cook it for myself only, or make a batch for 6 people.
If I don’t add any lentils/barley, I can can it but I wasn’t overly fond of the texture of the meat canned, we have done it before, it also would be 2/3 jars needing to be opened per meal, so it’s one of those meals that feels like saving room in the freezer for is a good thing, if that makes sense ? :)
Hey beloved you always seem to amaze me! Love your channel and videos. So much progress has been made by you and your family. Your definitely a role model for those whose have struggles but try and do the next best things! I would love to live off grid but with my chronic illness I can’t do it!❤ love the videos
Hi Nyssa!! Your english muffins look divine and I love that you fork split them. The creamy ramen also looks like a great meal. 😋 I always say we eat better when there's not all the "easy" things on hand. You definitely have to be more creative but it seems better to me anyway. Cheers from the faraway island of Newfoundland!!😊
The burger press is to press the meat directly on the hot pan, I will try some on top of the meat, but yeah, every informational video I watch they just press the meat directly into the hot pan :)
Everthing lookes delicious 😊!! I wish I could cook half as well as you!! Its extremely hot and humid here,WV,USA. 98 F here, no relief in sight, unfortunately no rain either. Take care, best to all your family.
Hey nyssa what a valuable score that oven looks devine I know once you've got it in you'll be unstoppable I love watching what your doing in your off grid life as a mum of 7 I commend you ..your always coming up with new ideas on meals and it spurs me on
Love watching your videos. With your hamburger press use parchment paper. It works wonderful. Can't wait to see your kitchen. Thank you fir your videos.
Everything looked scrumptious. I made rice, chicken sausages and sausage gravy (I was using up leftovers) I then added some leftover green beans and voila! Yummy!
Hi Nyssa, have you ever had a wander through Fresh and Save if there is one on your travels? I go there before I go to Woolies, Coles, and Aldi because they have some really good prices on a lot of things, and most prices are comparable to the other three supermarkets on like items. Also, they often have items that are not in the other three supermarkets. As I said, there are a couple of brands that the others have, that they don't carry, but I spend WAY less on the bulk of my shopping if I do go there. Anyhow, might be worth a look if you're going past.
I have added them to Facebook to keep an eye on, they’re a little out of the way but if I end up going in an extra day I will try and make the effort! I normally order Cole’s/woollies online before I go to use PayPal and so I know what I can get from them which makes it a bit more challenging but I will try and check them out :D
My personal preference is beef over chicken for stir fry but it depends on cost naturally. Oh my, that cabbage looked wonderful. They are so pale and tiny here. The price of olive oil is now so much. Hope you can get a good deal on it with your big shop. I just paid $15 for 750ml. I was all out.
Hi Nyssa. Thank you for the video! I wonder if it would work to bring the starter (etc) and set it up next to the fire after midnight? Or I guess everyone is tucked in by then.
I used to use inside to help with any sourdough in winter, the issue we have now is that we've extended the house but we've still only got that one fireplace and so the house is not staying as warm as it used to, we're not getting it up as high initially and its chilling down really quick once we are all in bed and not seeing to the fire... but I think bringing it inside with a smaller container with a seed mat and thermostat in it will work, because it still stays at least 5 degree ambient temp inside, whereas it can get down to -5 outside and the heatmat cannot compete.
@@OurSmallFootprint yes our house used to be pretty cold again by morning, also. Maybe right next to the side? Btw I used to put my ash in the compost and one day I must have been a bit too quick to take them out. The tray felt cold! Anyway the ash re-ignited in the compost and I woke up to the RFS, two trucks and a bunch of firies in the garden putting out a big fire. I was so embarrassed. Luckily early morning walkers spotted the problem and called them in 🫣☺️
@@BonnyP-69r surreal has done that once by accident! We spotted it though! Now we have a rotation system, with two bowls so any ashes are 48hourish old before we dump them!
One of the blessings with your new oven is that with the gas pilot light in the oven, you can 0roof breads in there on cooler days. Oh will it improve your ability to bake more efficiently. That is if you are planning on leaving the gas on to the pilot around the clock. Your recipes are so wonderful 👏 😍, thank you for adding to my repertoire of recipes.
@@OurSmallFootprint Yeah we went through a couple adapters for propane hook ups. We used a pigtail set up designed for RVs for a decade, using 2 30 gallon tanks. We only switched out to a 100 lb tank with a propane company coming out to refill it. Being just 2 of us, we don't use a lot, but it supplies our on demand water heater year round, and can be used for heating, and cooking if needed. I cook, and can outdoors with a small 2 burner propane stove 3 seasons of the year. I use an insta-pot,a small convection oven, and a 2 burner convection cooktop with our solar, just limited. We have the luxury of being utility tied, with solar power to reduce our costs, and to use for power outages. At our age 63 & 67 we plan for backup. We are set to age in place.
@@elizaC3024 we can’t get the bigger tanks out here, so we use the standard bbq ones, we just have lots in rotation, easy to fill and access, they’re 8.5/9kg, we go through a fair bit which is why it would be nice to upgrade the solar eventually and to get the woodstove going too! But for the moment with the kids the age they are etc, I need that convenience
So this week coming is the big shop week? End of fin year Hopefully most of your tax comes back to you lm praying for almost all mine to be refunded back lol
Yeah, I should get a bit back end of June ish fx! But we don’t pay a lot of tax so we don’t get a whole lot back lol. Too little income! Unfortunately I’ll be down during school holidays which I hate lok
Video after next I think it is, I did a big batch and made sausage patties etc, and got the sizing down right and did a big double batch! I'll type it out to share! I'm happy with it now, have made it a few times and they're very consistent :D
the things you can do with a bbq, you're gonna be unstoppable with an oven, nyssa
