This reminds me of My guitar teacher who started my lessons with chords and basic music theory immediately. How i can move my finger to make a major to a minor and understanding scales. This video only made it clear to me that my last guitar teacher was actually really skilled in teaching the right stuff. Most other teachers only teaches chords, picking and exercises.
I experienced a breakthrough just watching this video, thank you so much for sharing your experience and knowledge in a way that is easy to understand ❤
Hey brother Berth, ex-Patreon subscriber here😢. I enjoyed being subscribed to your patreon channel very much but brother as we know it life can hit hard. I hated not being able to continue with your patreon subscription . Around the same time you had quit posting guitar tips, tricks and techniques on TH-cam. Life is getting better with my eyes set on subscribing again. Your Guitar Academy channel has help me so so much I’m actually playing guitar everyday again. Brother on behalf of the rest of the guitar community and myself, I thank you for this move in starting up the second channel to focus on teaching guitar to us!!!! Know it or not you are a hero brother!!!
My guitar playing is the exact description of the intro. I'm 51 and have never studied theory. The kicker? I've been playing off and on since I was 13😮. This video has single handedly taught me more than all those yeaslrs combined. Holy he'll. Don't be lazy. Tha k you for this video. 😢
I definitely agree with you however I also have noticed how all people who know music theory at a certain level do tend to sound similar. In life I have noticed that in being different we are the same but in being the same we are different but in music the same is the same. This is where someone like you has a slight different sound. It has to do with your approach on music. You have an awesome approach in music and it is enjoyable. Good job.❤
Bernth thank you ! I've got a fantastic guitar teacher and he has helped me to learn the modes and improve my picking . I learnt that my picking technique with alternative picking was not economical and that has helpef me a lot . I'll be watching this later !! Thank you so much Bernth ! :)
I can almost very clearly remember rhe moment i realized the power of altering 3rds 5ths and 7ths- still to this day discovering new things off that one breakthrough at like 12😆 EXCELLENT video 🔥
I have the Boden TT as well, and despite the fact that I'm not crazy about headless guitars nor the necks on Strandbergs, it's probably my favorite guitar that I own
Thanks for this channel, man. I prepare for the admisson in a musical college and your stuff is just heart-warming - such a great and fun excercises to do. Love your workouts and content at all, thank you again for all your work!! It's always been a pleasure to watch your videos: not only the lessons, but music to - it's incredible. Hope patreon will unblock to Russians one day, so I can subscribe to your patreon as well 🤝
I had 3 "HOLY SHIT?!" moments in this video where theory just clicked for me. Thank you, sir. I shall take my new found knowledge to my beaten up Squier Strat and see what happens 😂
20 years of playing and I aside from a wide toolkit of techniques, I have no formal music theory understanding which makes it hard to jam. Although I am trying to learn now, I still am not disappointed in my progress or my ability. If my 14 year old self just starting to play Crazy Train could see what I can do now, I would never believe it. This is solely in defense of sad guy sitting on bed who knows no theory.
I'm self taught and I'm no say I wouldn't benefit from it but I come up with new things everyday and I don't really know guitar theory I know some scales and some chords anyways I have a theory about learning how to play blindfolded so that you know where all the notes are you don't have to guess you don't have to watch your hands you just know
Or... you could just spend hours practicing normally until you have muscle memory of the fretboard, instead of spending difficult hours practicing blindfolded until you have muscle memory of the fretboard
Get a guitar customized so it has the image at 0:03 on it. That's right, the "music theory cheat poster", just slap it on there and put a layer of clear lacquer, or whatever they use, on it and you are prepared for battle.
Tbh I kinda know the same theory and techniques as you, but one thing I can never get right is tone and sound settings. Do you have any videos that cover this?
From all the videos that I saw, the golden rule is: does it sounds good? If yes the tone/settings are fine Thrust in yourself and the guitar will reward you
Theory just became more confusing. Dorian, minor, major, seventh, fifth,..ugh! Gonna just stick with, if the next fret or group of strings sounds cool, use what works.
The problem with the opening statement is that when it comes to listeners, they don’t care about theory. Rhianna has the most number one hits and her music is brain dead simple. We can’t chock it all up to theory.

I will.

I have the Boden TT as well, and despite the fact that I'm not crazy about headless guitars nor the necks on Strandbergs, it's probably my favorite guitar that I own
Man. I just realized I wasn't subscribed. Thanks so much for this content.
Thank you for the breakdown. You cut to the chase!
I do a lot of this accidentally when I'm improvising with the guys.. but I will evolve 🖤
Damn this cuts deep!
Thanks Bernth 🤘
I love this nerdery and I´m not even a musician, really interesting stuff.
I'm ok with rehashing the same bluesy licks and using bends to harness the power of the note. 🤟
You described who i am with the intro 🫂😭
Such a helpful video. Im going to watch this again when im not drunk.

@@timmycakes9917 yes,I’ve tried,but there‘s still problem with payment
Great. Now I just need a tutorial to understand the magic guitar words he's saying.
I can't even got 2 seconds without hitting the wrong string, I'll never be able to do that.
Sounds to me like u don't WANT to do that more so than CANT
That guitar is badass!!!
Great channel.

I had 3 "HOLY SHIT?!" moments in this video where theory just clicked for me. Thank you, sir. I shall take my new found knowledge to my beaten up Squier Strat and see what happens 😂

Intro to this video plays...*Misha and Mark enter the chat*
I'm learning this next week!
Bernth I shared this video with that poor guy and now he’s on the road to be a successful guitarist like you.
You should’ve been in the music mansion
5:59 sounds like Cowboys from hell
hei bernth, please make a lesson about finding melodi in a song

the same progression of U2 - Ordinary Love

What are your thoughts on learning to play blind folded
Or... you could just spend hours practicing normally until you have muscle memory of the fretboard, instead of spending difficult hours practicing blindfolded until you have muscle memory of the fretboard
Joking with the guys who's actually here to learn life changing tricks.....😢
Would this work with blues
Are those flat-wounds?
heres un gran genio
Hey, that's me! 😅
I just do trial and error which is so hard
Your a great teacher
I switched to all 4s tuning after 40 years, I'll never go back.. 2/3rd less to learn and music theory is locked into single pattern sets.
"just put my pinky there " 🤕
more theories only
So far over my head....im the guy he talked about
music theory is a cheat that u need. Hustinettenbär
ohhh diminished dots
J'adore!

Which guitar is that one in the thumbnail ?
🔝🎸🔝
Great! Thanks! 👏🏼🫡
Why do the best guitarists have a little finger the length of my index finger!😡
My toilet exploded from excessive poop
Awsome bro
TH-cam poop?
What did he say?😵💫

Help! Lost!

I truly dont think there is some type of shortcut with theory. U really just need to learn it
Music theory kills me lol ...i need a better brain 😢
Theory just became more confusing. Dorian, minor, major, seventh, fifth,..ugh!

Read music! Don't be a wuss! Don't settle for tab.
Way too complicated for this newb
Слишком много дырок
Too fast- totally lost....! 7:15
You talk too much and too fast - less words would be much better to separate what's really important
Algebra folks. 😂
