    I like that you added in who's not gonna like it and who might like it

    Our group just played this today and we had a blast! Everything (workers, resources, artifacts, military, road, boat) work really well together. I'm a sucker for tableau building and worker placement, some player interaction / conflict (but not too much), and resource management -- so this has the right ingredients. I'm also a fan of Everdell and I'd say Terramara has more worker placement than tableau building -- where Everdell has more tableau building than worker placement.. I got max military and boat, and tied first in road towards the end of the game but I focused on building an engine during the start (and was last on all 3 during the first 2 or 3 rounds). Overall, I really like this game and agree about the stress level. Our group will probably play Everdell more (not sure why I'm comparing those games) but this is a great game to play every few sessions or so.

    I know Tom said raid at 9:42. But it was certainly a surprise the first time.

    Definitely sounds like a game I'd wanna try before buying. Has some cool ideas and lots of decisions. I dig the sound of it for sure, but how often can I get it played? hmm

    Only approved?! :'( The tears are flowing! Oh I love this game, this was my 3rd best game of 2019 and my favourite Euro of the year! 10/10 for a nice midweight, beautiful game with good choices and a unique twist on worker placement.

      rahdo also didnt like it too much so its not been hyped like Coimbra which flopped when it got approved only

      @@Medsas His sole reason though was finding the military too punishing which it isn't by a long shot! I hate punishing games so this can't be that! 😜

      Tom's review sounds like an excellent and the approved was a bit surprising.

    Hey Tom, which worker placement would you add to the shelf with Inis, Barrage and Birmingham already in the collection? Clans of Caledonia or Terramara? Why? I have an option for both at the same price. Thanks!

    Not just because of the river, although that is part of it, this game kind of reminds me of Lewis & Clark but a much heavier, complex version. I do like the tension of those kind of decisions to make as Tom described. But it does look like it'd be overwhelming visually when first learning it, and I already realized before Tom mentioned it that you *could not* play with people who get analysis paralysis.

    I really like the components, especially the double sided resources. I see they tried to make the board intuitive, but it's a lot of iconography and that can scare many uninitiated away.
    The fire mechanic is nice to make it tight tho

    Place a worker where you’ll never get back? That’s nothing new, Architect of West Kingdom does just that.

    • @Vascariz
      @Vascariz 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So does Everdell... Teotihuacan you can lock a worker that needs to be unlocked... Must be more...

      Also the "grand daddy of worker placement": Bus! Although there, it's not a choice. You have 20 action pawns at the beginning of the game, for the whole game, and you never get one back. Eric Summerer made a great 3 minute review of the old version of the game, and Joel Eddy a more in depth one of the recent reprint.

      In Everdell you get them back at the end of a round and in Architects of the West Kingdom you will get them back once another player sends the to jail and you release them. Yes in this game if you can do something similar as well but also if you skip down and take an action in the bottom two rows you will never and can never get that worker back. Where in the other two listed games you can p until the final round of worker placement.

    • @RadikalKit
      @RadikalKit 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      New Board Order I’m everdell there are some buildings where the worker is permanently assigned to that location. But non of them are open locations so you just don’t bother assigning a worker there until your final season so it doesn’t really have a huge impact on your decision process.

    Sounds a little bit like a more complex Russian Railroads.

      I have four games of this under my belt and tons of Russian Railroads, and honestly I can't see any relationship between them both, besdes being wp games. Russian Railroads is waaaaay better then this. Give it 6 months and no one will remember it anymore.

      @@rafaelmaia8223 fair enough. But when Tom described the tension of somebody else is taking the place you want to go I instantly thought of RRR. But you are right, that should be the case in any good WP game.

    just played it for the first time. no stress at all, and we acomplished almoat evrything.
    the issue we had are some cards are overpowered in combination with other cards.
    also iconography and overall visual art style is what I don't like about this game, so I will skip buying a copy
