Haha thanks! I can literally only do that one pattern and maybe a variation or two, though. No clue how people play those elaborate, loose-feeling patterns.
Thanks for showing a lot of the sequencer elements. I feel like a lot of the mechanics of the sequencer are invisible due to lack of menus and such, so seeing someone just ignore finger drumming and go full in math nerd on the number keys is good because it shows folks how to fix their mistakes, something that's not obvious just by looking at the interface. The only thing I haven't figured out and can't find demos for is changing note lengths. You used one shots for everything, but I tend to use KEYS mode a lot for melodies and bass and one thing that's important is making sure your notes don't overlap a single bit so you can maximize the polyphony, but I play sloppy and notes overlap....and if i play conservitively, there's a gap between notes...neither is acceptable...so if you find it in your heart to show this technique, if it even exists, that'd be swell.
Thanks! Changing note lengths on the KO II is kinda weird: you can, but it affects EVERY note on the step and the maximum duration you can select is one bar. Here's how you do it: 1. Turn off Quantize and enter MAIN mode 2. Go to the step/tic with the notes you want to edit 3. Hold shift and adjust the Y knob. The X knob adjusts velocity--again, for all notes on that step/tic. Note: i just edited this because I realized my issues when testing were due to Quantize being enabled.
@@windowbed I currently own the KO2 and am considering acquiring another unit due to my appreciation for its workflow. I would like to inquire about the sound quality of the XY model. How does its workflow compare? Does the XY enhance the compositional features in terms of progression? I am inclined to make a purchase but plan to wait for Black Friday in hopes of securing a discount. I am aware that the XY offers ample storage, which is essential for my needs, but I am curious if its price is justified when compared to the KO2. While I occasionally encounter challenges with the KO2, it generally serves my purposes well. I would appreciate your insights on this matter. I would be grateful if you could create a comparison video specifically for me that focuses solely on the ko2 and the xy.
hey James, is there a good way to contact you? I've been messing around with building a toy web app inspired in part by your KO II videos and was interested in your opinion, if you had the time to take a look at it.
Hey, that sounds interesting! I'd be very interested in helping out and providing thoughts/feedback. You can email me at windowbedmusic@gmail.com, or let me know if Discord is easier
Just realized I put "Beat OFF" in the title. Keeping it.
Cool stuff.
For someone that's 'not good at finger drumming' that was some pretty solid finger drumming c:

IT CAN DO THAT TOO? So glad mine is arriving within a week!

please compare the ko2 to the op-xy, thanks
I'd like to do a comparison between OP-1f, OP-Z, OP-XY, and the KO II. Not sure how I'd cover all my thoughts without the video being 10 hours though.
