Nissan made a Nismo of this and the Elantra, but never did it for the Maxima. They should've made a Maxima Nismo before they discontinued it. Put their twin-turbo V6 in it, made it AWD, a sporty suspension, and gave it a Nismo body package. I believe it would've sold very well in America. They really missed a great opportunity with the Maxima and just discontinued a legendary car without the proper send-off it deserved.

Nissan keep making bad decisions. No one will buy this. People who buy the Nissan Arya don't care about driving dynamics, they care about battery efficiency and value for money. This is more expensive and less efficient. 😂 Instead of making useless sporty EVs that won't sell, Nissan should work on a 1000hp hybrid GT-R! That would definitely sell!
The amount of times that the word "downforce" was used in this video is quite funny, considering this is a midsized electric SUV which I bet produces absolutely zero actual downforce.
The Nismo package has many “weight-losing” features as compared to the normal one, but the acceleration figure is not that impressive……Not even the price. It would be difficult to compete with the new Model Y unfortunately.😢

Nissan, where's the Sakura EV in Europe , where's the Note ePower? Nissan just discontinued the production plans of a 3rd generation LEAF for the US because it (and profit) would be too small despite being Qashqai/Rogue sized. It doesn't mean that a Qashqai sized LEAF in Europe would be appreciated especially without anything smaller or cheaper is crying for failure.
yeah, just wondering if production and selling nissan sakura would give them less money than this nissan ariya abomination? There is big need for small cars with big battery and good charging speeds. They could just buy condensed batteries from china, insert it to Sakura like 64kwh, with heat pump and voila! A succes. Just like repeating succes of nissan leaf gen 1.
Thank you for this. I always rather liked the Ariya when it first came out because it showed some original ideas about design. Because of the research back then, I recognise most of the interior and UI/UX, and it suits me (am 5’8”). What I think will now kill it for me is the huge battery and heavy weight even though they appear to have done a good job on a standard suspension. The final mail in the coffin, at €60k or so, is the steering is not too sharp according to the interview. Nisan’s problem is just how much fun you can have at €40-50k with 4WD and sharp handling from other brands.

The electrically operated central console and central glove box seem like cool features to have, but maybe simplicity isn't necessarily a bad thing. If the electrically operate central console breaks, it's a big part with various features and electrically operated controls within it. Wonder if the versions with them in are a potential expensive nightmare if one goes wrong and breaks. I imagine a lot will depend on whether you can remove and replace a faulty component easily, or if repairs will involve having to remove the console, or multipe components to access the faulty part.
KIA EV6 GT or this? Also...for some unknown Japanese reasons they didn't get the Google infotainment system together with Renault and decided to stick to their thing which is 10 years behind in all aspects. And this is not only for this model.
Nice vid, Thomas. Your analysis seemed quite fair. It's not a sports car and its weight means that there are cornering limits which are easily appreciated. It's a hard sell though. My '23' Tesla MYLR with acceleration boost is much faster. While my car is much less stylish, it's also much less expensive. Would I buy one? No.
I am not a huge fan of Japanese cars so I don’t know much about them but at least I know this plastic trash car doesn’t deserve the nismo badge it’s an disgrace
What a shame Lea did not fill the wiper fluid, how do we know that is easy accesible???😎 As for the car itself, meh, my Xpeng G6 performance is 10k cheaper, faster accelaration, faster charging and better specs and software. Who cares about maaaaybe some downforce at 120+ unless you are using it on a circuit. I did test the Ariya as it was on my shortlist but found it too boring and ancient tech.
Down force...Nah. Those spoilers, like 99% of spoilers in consumer cars, are just for looks😅. Real spoilers are😂 huge and don"t create much of a "down force" unless you are going at speeds that will result in a fine. Particularly in France, where there are photoradars virtually everywhere, and they ticket you even for 5k above the limit!😂
I'm not sure what you consider a "normal" Ariya... For AWD version there is 335hp as well as 389hp. The 389hp does 5.1 sec 0-100 so Nismo is not 1 second faster than normal Ariya.
Nissan Ariya reminds me of the First Gen Nissan Murano... its very wierd and ugly looking car that now have "Nismo" badge which is absolutly discrase to the original NISMO meaning as it was intended

It will depreciate to it's correct price in a year or two, if Nissan will still be selling cars by then.

they wont play an effect at lower speeds as I said ye, but at higher speeds they say yes when tested at Suzuka race track
