I thought I would finally show you guys what life is like as a third semester nursing student. Today we have a productive and chill day where we hit the gym, go to open lab, go to class, and relax our Monday away. Hi Kiara! It’s been great to see your nursing journey! I’ve been a nurse for 4 years and found the best way to prime iv tubing is to first take it out of the package, close the clamp (so u don’t forget), twisting while u spike so it’s easier to go in, and then hanging it on a hook or the Iv pole so it’s easy to prime the fluid instead of holding everything. I find that priming at a slower rate by opening the clamp slowly leads to less air bubbles. You’re doing great tho!!

Prefer crunchy peanut butter all the way but I love your content for nursing. It's super short and simple. I personally find it very exciting to see other nursing program's stimulation labs or lab classrooms in general and so being able to see what you are doing in those labs and using as much resource the school is providing to students is so nice. Good luck in your nursing school journey!

I have just start the same in labs. A little tip we were told was when setting up fluids tick it under you opposite arm and twist it in. We are using the same pump machine too, they are so easy ones you get the hang of it hey.

"There's so much line" 😅 As a patient I've referred to it as a leash.
I have always loved pushing buttons and messing with electronics so I would love to learn how to use the pumps even though I have no connection to the medical field as far as work goes. You have no idea how tempting all the light up buttons on the side of a fire truck are too 😂
My go to peanut butter is Skippy Natural, always creamy. If I wanted peanuts, I would eat peanuts. So everyone else enjoy your crunchy peanut butter so you don't buy all the creamy ones I need. Some good snack ideas besides apples with peanut butter are banana with peanut butter or my go to peanut butter and honey sandwich.
Literally been watching you since freshman year at the U OF O and I was passing my high school at that time. Now I'm doing law school which I will be over with in the next two years. Time flies, so happy to abide by your content.

First, I am very proud of you and I don’t know you personally. My father spent quite a bit of time in the hospital the last few years of his life. He was often hooked to pumps for medication because he couldn’t take medicine orally. And he ate through a feeding tube as well. With god awful liquid food. That is a different story.

oh boy haha...we use Kaplan which I like, but is sometimes different from what we learn in class!

I had no idea it was a nursing school that took over the campus from UWS. We still use the lab for Gross Anatomy so I was always curious what the other buildings are being used for now haha

I really like both PBs. For me They work for different purposes. Creamy one, better overall. But I like to bite the pieces of peanut when I make PBJ sandwiches, makes me feel fuller. I have both in my pantry

Just a suggestion be sure to not have air bubbles in your IV tubing or it will constantly beep some IV pumps are quite sensitive🤪 I find it easier to twist while pushing when spiking the fluid.

I'm a crunchy peanut butter gal! Not sure if we have the same brands as you here in England, but I love Meridian peanut butter because it just has peanuts as the sole ingredient, no palm oil, extra salt or anything else. Takes a bit of getting used to but now that I have I won't go back!

i have cystic fibrosis so i'm in the hospital abt once a year, i've pretty much learned how to use those IV pumps from muting the machine when it beeped 😂😂

Being able to understand how to solve real life problems and hanging out with cool & smart peeps. My favorite class so far has been chronic or acute conditions :)

Love your video, and congrats by the way! I have to say that with nursing school it depends on the program. I think if i had gone with a 4 year bsn program i would have less anxiety but being in an accelerated program (these are year round with about a week and a half to two weeks between semesters and instead of 4 years you complete the BSN in 2) the workload is double and you never get a break. We have exams and/or quizzes every week and it can be so overwhelming. I have to say though i would not take any of it back. I graduate in December and I have a new grad offer in the ICU already, it makes it all worth it!

Creamy but I do like crunchy too. I prefer Laura Scudder’s all natural pb. Apples and PB is the best. I love putting PB on a rice cake and then thin slices of apple on top of that….you get that extra crunch.

I love my peanut butter with milk chocolate swirls, specifically from a brand called Lady's Choice! Btw, do you get your piercings when you were a child or an adult? I am thinking of getting a second ear piercing but am worried it will take too long to heal 🥶
That sounds DELICIOUS. I got my first ones when I was 13, then had to get that re-done when I was like 16 because I let the first holes close up after tons of infections. I got my seconds in Spain when I was 21 and I took good care of them and they healed great!
I’m not a nurse and I’m not in nursing school yet (still taking my prerequisites) but I work at the hospital as a Tech and when you were trying to turn off the pump I was yelling out “press Channel Off” 😭

Yep I just ran into her while I was walking to get food! She’s so sweet. My PJs are a few years old from the magnolia collection from target. My mom had to get them off of eBay because they were sold out!
