Gotta let those emotions flow. You are in a major transitional phase, being a new nurse, adjusting to a new schedule, seeing some really intense stuff at work, and just generally being a 20-something figuring it out. It's a lot! I'm so inspired by your positivity and can-do attitude. As you always say, "we got this!" Your patients and co-workers are lucky to have you on their team. As a pre-nursing student I'm grateful to have role models like you :)

As a cancer survivor, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your compassion. I have such gratitude for all health care workers, but those who choose to go into oncology you all hold a special place in my heart. I forgot what you are dealing with when you are at work 🥺 You showing emotion reminded me and made me grateful for mine & my family’s health. My dad passed away while waiting for a liver transplant 4 years ago and my mom had close relationships with a lot of the nurses that helped take care of him. I am sure all the families you help are super grateful for you and your kindness 💛🙏🏻

I remember doing my clinical rotations in nursing school - one was oncology pediatrics and I went home crying after every clinical. I felt so deeply for the kiddos and their families. I realized then that I couldn't work with children. Going on 35+ years of nursing! Great profession and is challenging intellectually and emotionally. You're doing a great job Kiara. Just know it gets a bit easier as your confidence and knowledge grows 💪🙂

This video reminds me of all the night shifts I used to do when I was nursing at the hospital. The nausea is definitely a thing! One thing that helped me get through the stretch of nights is to plan something nice at the end, such as catching up with a friend. I would find it super lonely going to work while everyone had finished working and was able to socialize.

I work the night shift as well. I go to bed between 3-4am (sometimes 5) get up at 0930 with my hubby, see him off to work, (at 1030 am) go to my room and get myself ready for bed, then go to bed until about 1730 ( I live 10 minutes away from my hospital), this is on my first day, second and third days, I come home eat breakfast, shower, hang out with the pup, and try to stay up until hubby gets up ( doesn't always work, on these days I'm in bed by 0900) I sleep in the spare bedroom on these days because I do not want to wake him up. Then I get up at 1730 and start my day getting ready for work. You will find your groove. I am grateful I get to be a nurse and help people in their darkest times.

I worked night shift for a year and everyone is different when it comes to how they sleep. I would go home and have a normal after-work time. I would eat watch tv and needed the time to wind down or I couldn't sleep, but I knew people who would do what you did in this video. They would go to sleep right when they got home and wake up earlier to do things before work. Do whatever feels right for your body. It is a weird world, and you just have to feel it out.

It is so interesting how everyone is different....by the time my third shift hit I definitely feel like I can stay up, but the rest of the time I am running to my bed ASAP 😂

Tip to keep your eye mask on: Grab the top half of your hair (like a half-up/half-down section), put the strap of the eye mask in between the two hair sections, and then let the top half of your hair down! Works like a charm!

What do you think of the mass graves at Al Shifa and Al Nasser Hospitals containing the bodies of healthcare workers like yourself with their arm's and legs zip tied together, and patients executed with catheters still inside them? I have friends who are doctors and nurses who survived the sieges of those hospitals and are now choosing to work at European Hospital despite being targeted because their medical skills are slowing the gen0c!de of their people- some walk 3 hours from refugee tents to work. Just wondering how you feel about children with cancer being denied evacuation for treatment, being systematically starved, crushed, shot, and b0mbed? Healthcare workers with platforms have been worryingly silent.
