  • This Comica VM30 unit was sent for review. I was not paid any money or have affiliate links. Sorry for not stating in the video that it's a review unit.
    It really is my go to mic now as I find it easy to get a nice full sound with no effort.

    I am so glad that you made a review for this mic. I own the previous model - the Comica VM20. As good as the deity. As good as the rodes. But much cheaper than both. I also love the case and the deadcat.

      Thanks bro for your feedback. Yes I was really surprised by the quality and I agree with you. Even in this video you can hear the difference from when I switch over to the rode. It's so much easier for sound noobs to get decent sounding audio.

      @@Altcine Haha true. Most videographers don't like to play with audio very much. Which is kind of logical since there should me someone who's job is to record audio only, but unfortunately this is not possible for the majority of freelancer videographers. Great useful review

    • @Altcine
      @Altcine  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep you're absolutely right. It is nice when you have someone but a lot of clients expect the shooter to be the audio guy too so it's something we definitely need to learn...even just the basics.

      I have Comica vm30 pro great price when I got it and equally as good as any Rode equivalent. Comica look like they're stepping up the build quality too.

    • @titaniumshell
      @titaniumshell 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's nothing worse than seeing video footage for it to be spoiled by tinny audio from a built in camera mic. Every videographer should aim to work with audio too. It is a rabbit hole though. I've dabble with audio since I was 15 and I'm still learning, getting it wrong more often than I should and only just started mastering tracks.

    There is a big advantage in using a shotgun attached to the rode wireless transmitter ( or the similar dji unit )- you get internal recorded audio on the rode/dji transmitter so that if the wireless signal drops , you still have a recording. For me, that's a reason for using that setup - it's failsafe.

    • @Altcine

      🤣🤣 Yeah it's hard to take advice from TH-camrs. God as my witness, you'll probably never see me using another mic in my vids.
      Even the intro & outro sound so much better to me, unlike the middle of the vid where the rode fell apart. It is user error and my studio isn't sound proof but I don't need to do anything with the Comica.

    nice development we see here in this area. now we just got to put all this into one :)
    this would be my dream device:
    32bit internal recording and timecode sync (wireless go/tentacle) including
    - a VM30ish shotgun with built in TX like this one AND interchangeable capsule/barrel with different patterns like omni, cardioid, super cardioid, maybe even stereo "heads" in XY, MS (inspired by zoom interchangeable heads/sennheiser ME6x-Series)
    - 3x 4 Channel TX+RX (simultaneously!) with
    a TRRS to use with smartphone headsets,
    a cleverly designed adaptor to firmly clip in (No dangling dongle) to split into i/o -> threaded lav in, headphone out,
    an additional stereo Out
    Bluetooth ultra low latency headset connection (dare i dream...)
    lock and mute lever
    a screw in battery extender as an add on
    imagine a built in intercom.. you use your bt headset to connect, monitor the sound and talk to talent discretely they get a discrete headphone/ Lav-hp-combo of sorts for more secure signal...
    obviously expandable with more modules and a Base 10 Channel Mixer (8 channel Receiver, XLR-Combo inputs on device a bit like the rode podcaster thingy )
    thank you for igniting this mental audio gear trip :)

    • @Altcine
      @Altcine  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Gosh that is a lot 😅 I'm assuming you have very specific needs.
      I think this is more entry level, pro-sumer but I guess for big budget productions you'd need something more advanced.

    • @Behnam_Moghaddam
      @Behnam_Moghaddam 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @IMCE actually to me the comica vm30 is an awesome package in itself and an instant buy honestly. Perfect for runAndGun, documentary, films.... pretty much all most people need. But my needs shifted and kinda grew especially in the last 5 years
      It's for corpCom stuff, webcasts, livestreamings and such, that I'm wishing for a "do most audio with less stuff to carry around" and learn how to use.
      stuff stuff stuff....
      would love to reduce the sheer amount without compromising on ease, flexibility and options
      But as they say: with options and control comes opportunity to f it up bad of course 🤓

    • @Altcine
      @Altcine  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ahhh gotcha. Yeah with more options does come with more pitfalls but I would have liked extra features on this such as onboard recording.

      @@Altcine indeed.
      guess a vm32+ with autoleveling and 32bit int. rec maybe in a stereo kit with a bodypack as backup could be very compelling...
      what makes me nervous are those noise canceling buttons on the cheaper bodypacks ready to be engaged by talent... might be perfect for solo content creators, right?
      and dare i ask the M-Lite-Creator:
      how would your perfect all in one Audio Kit look like?

    • @Altcine
      @Altcine  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that's always a worry, we really have to be focused on so much things at one time.
      For me it would be something like this mic with a switch to lock the buttons and onboard recording. It would also be able to connect to a normal square mic like the rode wireless go that has lapel. And also 32bit float.
      I seem like a technical guy but I really like things super simple.

    Thanks for the first look! Been interested in this! What exactly is the safety track for? How would you use it?

    • @Altcine
      @Altcine  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, thanks for watching. The safety track is for any audio that gets too loud during your recording. It will allow your camera to record in stereo (left & right) but one will be lower than the other.
      You can then take the lower track and apply it to both left and right channels during editing.

    Would be interesting to tear this open and to see if one could ghetto mod the antenna wire for better TX by swapping it and heat shrink wrapping it on the mic handle instead of inside the unit.
