- On our last Cold Start video, we started an old K10 pickup and XJ Jeep. We wanted to start the Long tractor, but the starter switch broke apart. We got a new one, installed it, and now we can see if it cold starts after sitting for months!

cool video!
Do you have anymore segments to add for the Long 460DT project?
Up by where you replaced the coolant adapter - the blue capped "pill" shape object that touches the big hose. What is that. And where do I find that blue fire hydrant looking cap?
You didn't show the wiring on starter switch, I searching if is wiring T on switch or is free.
Hi I have the same tractor and when I get someone had moved a lot of the wires around. I just wondering if you could send me some picture of where your wire went on the starter switch and the key switch to see if I can get mine back to where they should be
Wire for wire the wires that connect to spade connections were off can anyone tell which wire goes where
Utb made in Romania my friend
I have the same tractor and my injectors are leaking. Any advice or maybe a video?
Hehe, an UTB tractor. Let me know if you need any replacement parts since here the originals are dirt cheap.
LOL They cost an arm and a leg where I can get them! I have to get from importtractorpart or something or longparts.mac Stuff is rediculous.
Hi, I have a UTB 550DT and am in Canada and am struggling for some parts, where are you located ? Do you know a good company for the parts ? Thanks.
@VortexGarage I have the same tractor. I am having really really long starts ( 20-30 seconds) with mine. I have the service manual and I have looked through the section on it, but I do not know best where to start. When you started it in this video, that was without the thermostart? I think that my issue is probably to do with compression maybe, but the manual says check injector timing. I do know that when I crank mine, it smokes like hell until it gets cranked.
this is late but if you have problems with the cold start then wrap a rag on the end of a metal stick, then put some gasoline on it, fire it and hold it on the air intake or admision ( idk how it's spelt)hope it helps
of course while you try to start it because it will suck warm air in and it wil start easier
@@cipcirip5022 I'm also having trouble starting a '79 Long and we've done the gasoline trick and it starts right up. What does this mean? I just replaced the air intake parts but it still won't start. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
@@curvesconverse hi i am from Türkiye 🇹🇷 you can replace pre heater resistance on the intake manifold. This tractor originally is Fiat and i have a Fiat tractor.
@@curvesconverse and you use big battery minimum 135 Ah
Originally of the FIAT
Could you please show or tell me where you are plumbed in for your loader I have a long 460. And I have to have my pto running to use the loader bucket. That can’t be correct
Same on mine - I'll try and grab more video of it, but basiclly there's a secondary hydraulic pump on the pto. PTO has to run to operate the front loader
Any plans to do an update on this tractor?
I have the same tractor and need help with wiring on the key switch. My neighbor lost the key so I had to buy a new switch and key because the other switch was different. I do not have a wiring diagram and do not know the terminals to wiring order. Will you please take a couple photos and explain the pattern. Thanks Barry Dodd
Good day - the shop manual copy has hardly any data on the switch itself. No good picture of the wiring. I also don't have direct access to the tractor at the moment.
Best I can find in the book is a single page wiring diagram, it does show the wiring and colors - you can access an image here:
drive.google.com/file/d/18YnBpXeV0nl4g1ZtaL6FtNUkZc0dTcRm/view?usp=drivesdk
@@VortexGarage Thank you for the diagram. The copy I have is so faded I could not read it. I will see if this will help but unfortunately, the wiring colors do not correlate. Too many wires have been replaced so I am now trying to trace them down. Barry
Is that the only way to do it. Or can you run it off the power steering pump. And use the power steering also
Power steering and main hydraulics are seperate pumps.
I need the nut from the old switch for my tractor so I don't have to buy a new switch lol
I know this is a old video but if any one lost the nut for the original switch and you do not want to buy a new switch just for a nut the nut size is a m27x1.50 you can buy 3 stainless steel nuts off eBay for like $10
Starter witch is originally FIAT 450_480_540_640 . It is made by TURK TRACTOR TURKEY. Switch brand name of ENG company.
