A follow up to my previous Long 460 Video I have the Control Valve Cover on the table, along with the piston. I may have found the reason for my 3 point failing to lift.
Well to be fair it's not exactly the best of videos on youtube. But in the same breath I just happened to be working on it and couldn't find any information on this particular tractor. So i opted to share what I could with anyone that might be interested in seeing some of it. I don't deal with this stuff in a professional capacity at all, so my knowledge is extremely limited and best I can hope for is that someone find some amount of what they see useful. I'd rather post the little bit I have then nothing at all.
I am so happy to see someone make a video like this on the Long 460 tractor. I have the Long 460DT (center drive) and I haven't had any problems similar to yours but, it is so nice to see someone with this tractor actually making video on a problem they've had and how they handled it. My Long is a WORKHORSE but, it has it's problems. You've inspired me to video those problems and how I handle them. I plan on repairing a few real soon. Please keep it up.
So did you ever solve the problem? I had a similar experience with a ford 8n. sometimes the 3pt lift would stop working. I found that a relief type valve had a problem inside the housing. Well now I recently bought a 460 long with the same issue you are facing. I was thinking of going into it and looking for the relief valve and see if its stuck open. If you have the answer to what yours was doing please post it. thanks.
I don't have a video of it. But the front plate under the seat comes off. Once off, you can lift the three point arms repeatedly to push the piston out the front. Just disconnect the arms of the three point from any attachments, with no weight and no pressure it shouldn't be difficult to lift on it.
Who in their right mind would give a thumbs down. Videos like these on these old tractors are rare, far, and few between.

The little pilot valve to the right does that have 2 little o rings

I'm afraid not. But I expect the issue is the same as you described. Unfortunately I had to sell it after putting it back together.
