    Plz keep em comming sir…i love watching you work on the tfsi…i just recently bought one with the valves destroyed and it wouldnt start after i installed a new head onto the engine…this video helped me out A LOT…if it wasnt for your video i wouldnt have figured out that my reluctor wheel on my intake cam was spun almost a whole 180 degrees…i just replaced the cam with a good one today and now i have a beautiful running B8…i very much want to thank you again for this knowledge…

    Drop few notes here
    First of all thank you for documenting fantastic and valuable information to people!
    Second - If you had combo with P000A + P0016 - check magnet on intake (by testing/replacing it to another), as well as look into small "piston" which moves VVT back-forth, maybe it's clogged (it has small metal net inside of it and because of burn oil it might clog the flow)
    Also you may try to check those timing adjusters, maybe they're "worn out" - it's possible to replace them with slightly updated width (it's less than milimeter). They would work properly but on idling you may hear rattling sound (because adjusters are a bit worn)

    Wow excellent video here.. I was told you can actually rebuild or fix a seized intake cam phazer by removing the gear cover and realign the pawls.. I’ve never seen a cam shaft seize after colliding with valves but I’ve only done a couple dozen of these 2.0 TFSi unlike your thousands.. Also, very interesting design on the cam position wheel I thought it was a tone ring like the crank but it’s variable so I guess that aligns with the ECU as the profile changes.. wow learning about these systems so much from you.. truly are the best at your presentations.. I guess I understand why those TFSi cams are so pricey now.. granted there’s a lot of VAG markup but it’s a finely precise instrument.. great content 👍🏻👍🏻

    I recently did a timing chain on a b7 it was fine for a couple of drives. Rode it pretty hard the time it did work. Then I got in one day and it started so rough I parked it replaced the cps. It cold starts pretty rough then clears up a bit. Every 20 miles or so I get a p0016. Any ideas of what it might be?

    Very interesting (and horrifying!) about that thin oil baffle being knocked out of place by an oil change place, then having it get into the camshafts and destroy the engine! What a terrible scenario.
    Just curious, how many times have you seen that actual scenario occur?

    Why would my 2010 Audi A4 2.0T started smoking dark smoke? Is it the turbo? Second question is i bought a coolant temperature sensor thats tell me the engine temperature which mine doesn't have one in the back of the engine nor do i see the wire harness to click into it & looks like it has a bypass where it goes into that black plastic coolant block in the back of the engine which i think thats why my fans stay at 100% on & the fans & radiator is brand new. Can anyone help me please

    If I have bent valves, can I just replace the head and the chain? The car isnt worth tearing the engine out and doing a rebuild. You have lots of rebuild videos, but really no videos addressing getting the car back on the road to get a couple of years out of it.

    Great video, got a question for you, I have a 2000 Audi TT 1.8, would the noise suppressor/ capacitor that bolts to the valve cover cause the engine not to have spark. Car was running, preformed a compression test 120 all the way across, put it back together, now I have no spark but noticed the one wire going to the capacitor was broken. Your thoughts 💭?

    Have you ever seen a cam bridge seized on before? And why would that happen? Very low mileage car (appx 40k miles), but it was an original 2010 part. Dealer had to force it off and damaged the cam in doing so. They said they had never seen one seized on like that before.

    • @deutscheautoservicesug4544
      @deutscheautoservicesug4544 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a very rare problem but I will tell you what I think.
      Put in mind that the cam bridge is to hold the cams into place so as to reduce tension that is caused by the chain and it also acts as a channel for supplying oil to lubricate the camshafts at the point where the attach to it.
      So if there is oil starvation of any kind, it will cause wear of the cam bridge journal thus cause too much heat and then melting and that is how u end up with such a problem.
      However, I can't think of possible cause but I can come up with my own which are, since the bridge has a small oil gallery which also has a small screen that keeps bursting, it could break into tiny pieces that can somehow find there way up to that cam journal of the cam bridge and that how the damage starts building or even kinda block the oil passage causing luck of enough lubrication especially at high revvs.
      I can also relate it to sludge finding its way up although this is almost impossible since u have an oil filter.
      I could also relate it to an oil filter that stayed too long with being changed and a tinny piece broke off and found its way up thus blocking the oil gallery of the cam bridge.
      I hope that helps.
      Cheers

    My 15 s3 every now and then would get a choppy idle and a p0011. Found it was the vvt actuator in the cam. The spring was worn. Replaced it and it's ran great since

    I recently did a timing chain job. Car ran great afterwards for the first few startups. Now i have a p0016 code and car has longer than normal crank times as well as going into limp mode. Is it possible its just a sensor or the magnetic adjuster? Or do you think i jumped a tooth? Timing was at 0⁰ after time job. Now its at -17⁰

  • @deejay4837

    Nap, can we just change the oil judiciously and keep an eye on the cam phase numbers and tensioner notches on our cars (mine B8.5) and not worry so much? I really feel like most of these issues are cuz owners neglect oil changes. That and their oil level due to not knowing the burning/ring issues.

    • @NaptownTuner
      @NaptownTuner  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I believe the chain is too small and weak and was designed to fail, I believe the piston rings were made wrong and designed to fail as well.

      P0016 is when your chain has already stretched and skipped teeth, especially true with an extended crank. Next step is for it to come completely out of time and bend valves.

      You can’t swap camshaft trays, the original one with the head needs to stay with the head. Not saying this is what happened but the only likely thing I can think if, unless the old sealant was grinder off removing bearing clearance materials
