I grew up on Seger in NW Ohio. In 1968 he became my rock band singing out of Detroit and on the radio CKLW the big 8. You need to listen to all his songs. He was a favorite of Leno and was on his program many times.

The song is about life on the road. He's one of the best songwriters in the business. Hard to find a bad song in his entire catalog of music.
This is one of those songs (like most of Bob's music) that you just close your eyes and FEEL it instead of just listening to it.
