    This is one of my favorite songs by Bob Seger. It is like an autobiography of his life touring. I am a sucker for songs with Sax (Baker Street & Year of the Cat). He has such a rich soulful tone to his voice.

    I had a opportunity to meet and talk to Alto Reed, the sax player with Bob Seger, in Miami, when the Hard Rock Cafe BLEW a wonderful opportunity working with him, setting up a jazz night there. He was awesome and amazing, and so friendly. Bob Seger was, and continues to be a favorite of mine, and it is so nice to see young people discovering him and his music.

    My favorite Bob Seger song. He has always been a big legend in my area of Toledo Ohio. He came here often throughout his career even doing shows in high schools early on. And he is a great live act. The crowd always goes crazy when the sax sets out on this song. Makes the hair of my neck stand up still today. Great reaction video! Thanks much for doing Turn the Page!

  • @tonydelapa1911

    I was shocked to learn that you had not done this song yet. What a great song and performance! Although is was on an earlier album ( “Back in ‘72”), the version you played is the more popular (live) version on “Live Bullet.” If you were my age and lived in Michigan between 1976-80, you likely owned one version of this on vinyl and another on cassette for the car. I saw Bob & SBB open for KISS at Notre Dame In 1975. It was $5 and parking was free. 😂
    I went away to high school on the east coast, beginning in 1975, when I was a sophomore. It was just a few weeks after I had seen Bob live and I was crushed that nobody out there had heard of him. On the other hand, somebody I had never heard of was wildly popular in the east: Bruce Springsteen. What careers and catalogues they have both had!

    Growing up, I saw Bob Seger at least half a dozen times. The man toured incessantly, and he didn't care if he was the headliner or the opener (I saw him as both). But man you did not want to have to follow his act. He and his band were always so tight you had to bring your A++ game if you followed Bob.

    If you watch the documentary "Eight Days A Week" about the touring days of the Beatles, it shows how hard the Beatles worked in those early days. Groups were mostly paid for performances and appeareances back then, not record sales. If they did not perform, they did not get any money.

  • @dubbleplusgood
    @dubbleplusgood 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love your comments, (as always) and very glad you enjoyed this amazing song and performance by Bob Seger. However, I'm not certain the sax used here is the same as what was used in that scene from Boyz in the Hood. Maybe similar but not the same. What actually stands out for me in this song are the lyrics where he talks about walking into a restaurant and feeling the eyes upon him, sometimes you can hear them talk, all the same old cliches 'is that a woman or a man?'. This would definitely have happened to male rockers in the 70s with their long hair and different outfits. Yeah that was a thing back then. "And you always feel outnumbered, you don't dare make a stand...." a lot of people can relate to that for many reasons, not just hair.

But until that time I think I will request you to react to their 2020 album, entitled, Fly From Here. It is 52 minutes. I am listening to it right now......and I am really digging it....it different with not many transitions as previous album.....but has the transitions of a smooth Jazz album....like some Peter White(Famous Jazz Acoustic Guitar) would create or David Benoit(the famous Jazz Pianist). It reminds me of "Tales of Topographic Oceans." Beautiful wonderful sound that remind me of "Games of Thrones." I am really started to liking it. Check it out!!!! It would be a critic from this album to the new one, "The Quest."
