You can definitely hear the influence the Beatles had on Cannibal Corpse's "Hammer Smashed Face".
The vocal style is so reminiscent of Paul and the background growls of John, almost like you put Yoko Ono and her vocals in a blender and everything was blood red afterwards. The serene and exotic guitar tone remind of George's sitar and a smashed skull, which is a reference to the spiritual liberation of the hippie era.
When i was young i would always sing along to "Trash, thrash me do", "And i axed her", "I want to hold your skull" and all those amazing songs 😀

Loved hearing that real time deconstruction of one of my favorite death metal songs!! This was song that introduced me to the genre (from Ace Ventura: Pet Detective😹 ) when I was pretty dang young. As much as I appreciate all aspects of the song, the the wicked baseline that takes center-stage is probably my #1 favorite part. When the whole song slows down towards the end into a very heavy groove... just fantastic. My only problem with most death metal is the constant explosive aggression with no real breaks, but this song has it all.
