    Whats the difference between pp2 and pp11. Which one would better.
    And if pp11 is better how the settings will change for that ?

    Hey Bernie...I got the FX30 and I like this beast! More than enough for me to learn more about making good videos (don't call them films!)...I like the menus a lot more than I like the menus on my older a6400! Nice sony...I will learn how to use Slog but I don't need Slog for most videos-not for weddings...yet...so I tried the S-cinetone default and I didn't like it very much. Oversaturated and too much contrast...argh...I ended up using a Creative style neutral with reduced contrast and saturation...but I found your video on how to create a custom S-Cinetone profile. I also chose PP3 and followed your tutorial...I like it a lot more for sure! I will use this weekend. I also discovered that my sigma 16mm f1.4 can become a 24mm f1.4 if I use Clear image zoom on my Sony..I tried it and in 4k it looks great. It could be useful but I prefer to stay at 16mm. However I'm thinking that if I had a Sigma 30mm f1.4 I could get to 45mm with it..and that could be useful in weddings and low light events. The only other option I have is to get a Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 but I already have a Sony 18-105mm f4- not sure how much better a f2.8 would be from a f4...but f1.4 is a lot better than f4 for sure...do you know of other options for good zoom lenses with f2.8 and lower for the FX30? I'm going to enjoy this camera! thanks

      @Erick Perdomo, thanks for your comment! Same with you, I love my FX30 and it's my best camera yet. I've now set it up to be my dedicated talking head video camera replacing my GH5. Although I still have the GH6 as well, but right now, it hasn't been used. And since I always pick up the FX30 instead of the GH6. It's that good and it's really a joy to use. Yes you're correct about the S-Cinetone and out of the box, it's too contrasty and oversaturated to my liking too. As for another f/2.8 lens aside from the Sigma 18-50mm, there's this Tamron 17-70mm which is APS-C as well and a popular alternative. Have you heard about it? It's a bit bigger and a bit heavier and that's the reason why I chose the Sigma 18-50mm as my main lens. I love that lens and not only it's small, the autofocus is quick too. It's so light and overall has an amazing build quality and in my opinion, it matches the FX30 very well.

      @@BernieHipos hey...how do you find the picture quality of the FX30 compared to the GH6? I see that there is a new full frame Panasonic camera coming out with really good autofocus and lots lots of codecs...but to be honest, full frame is usually expensive...if not the camera, then the lenses...can't afford that...
      About the zoom lens.nothing better than f2.8...so I'm not sure I want to buy another zoom lens...how much brighter is a f2.8 against a f4? I will research that too!
      I will see if I can borrow a Sigma 30mm f1.4 to see if that could work..anyway...thanks for the video mr filmmaker!

      @@TheFandangovideoguy, the GH6 has a different color science but can be matched when using V-LOG and Slog3 on the FX30. Although in my tests, the GH6’s V-LOG has a slight orange tint but still usable after color grading. As for 4K 120fps, the GH6 blew the FX30 out of the water since the 4K 120fps you get from the GH6 is very clean, unlike with the FX30, it needs plenty of light when filming in 4K 120fps and that’s the main drawback for me with the FX30. Also in my case, and as much as I love filming in Cinelike D2 on the GH6, I find that the Slog3 is easier to work with. I can get more dynamic range and it’s so easy to use. I just add Phantom LUTs in post and tweak the contrast a bit and it’s ready to go, (yes I use LUTs since I suck in color grading. 😂 And I really don’t want to color grade from scratch at all). As for the full frame Lumix S5ii, it’s not for me since I am not a fan of full frame cameras since like you said lenses are expensive and I wanted that extra reach when filming, and Micro Four Thirds and APS-C cameras can definitely achieve that easily. But also it’s good that Panasonic now has the S5 Mark ii and is now implementing PDAF and I really think that it’s the way to go moving forward. Hopefully they’ll implement this too to the GH cameras in the future. 🤞🏾 That’s one of the reasons why I switched from Panasonic to Sony in the first place since I couldn’t wait any longer. Haha… And also a lot of users including me would like to have that great autofocusing system in a camera.

      @@BernieHipos Hey..the most I would use is 4K60fps really for gimbal work...120fps not so much...oh well...but otherwise the FX30 is somewhat comparable to the GH6 for regular 4k24, 4k30? I really think Panasonic will fix the autofocus this year...but I'm not in the mood to change systems completely...I still want to buy a Camcorder for live events-the Canon XF605 with 1" sensor...I know it won't be the same as cropped sensor but a camcorder can be very useful if you do live shows etc. I just wish the XF605 was cheaper!
      anyway...maybe you have a video comparing the FX30 and the GH6...out of curiosity.I'm keeping my XF30-will try to get a Sigma 30mm f1.4 for cheap!
      take care for now...full winter with some freezing rain, then snow etc here in Canada! Great!

    How's the noise level in 120fps 4k in s-cinetone in comparison with slog3 ?

    • @BernieHipos
      @BernieHipos  ปีที่แล้ว

      @MasterPro, the S-Cinetone is cleaner in my testing if we are talking about using 250 ISO or lower compared to S-Log3 when using both dual base ISOs of 800 and 2500. However, if I lower the exposure index (EI) value, then the S-Log3 has a slight edge and produces cleaner images. But if I use the base ISO 0f 800 and also retain the default EI value of 800, and the scene's outdoors, then I get a lot of noise even if it's daytime. Worst with night scenes and indoors even though I'm using 2500 base ISO with an EI value of 2500. Note though that the EI value only changes what you see on the monitor and you're still using the base ISO of 800 or 2500 when filming in S-Log3 Cine EI. I hope I answered your question. Thanks for asking and for watching the video! 🙏🏽

      @BernieHipos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lissa.reacts, so ok the FX30 is in front of me so I tested it and I can tell you that in my eyes it's very usable. I tested both at ISO 2500 and 6400, and my lighting was tungsten and turned off other lighting and set the WB at 3200K. I'd say very usable at 2500, and at 6400, it's usable but has to be cleaned using a plugin like Neat Video to get a better result. You can clean the 2500 ISO image as well, but just a tad. Also, the noise looks grain to me so I'd say it's a good thing. It's my first time testing S-Cinetone in low light since most of the time I use S-Log3 and I'm impressed! By the way, the S-Cinetone I used was the default setting that the camera came with. I didn't use the tweaked settings at all like in this video just to see. I hope this helps.

    Why didnt you stay at the FX30 Dual base iso of 125 and 400?

    • @BernieHipos
      @BernieHipos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @CorretjerFilms, I didn't use either 125 and 400 dual base ISOs for S-Cinetone since I judge my shots from what I see on the LCD monitor and I got used to doing that when using my Lumix cameras. For the FX30 though, I only use the dual base ISOs of 800 and 2500 when filming in S-Log3 since they excel in that department and I get better dynamic range in S-Log3 in my testing. I hope I answered your question and thanks for your comment! 🙏🏽

      So the Dual Base iso for S-cinetone is 125 & 400?
      But for S-log 3
      It’s 800 & 2500?

    • @BernieHipos
      @BernieHipos  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@memoriesmakeus985, yes and that's according to this article: www.xdcam-user.com/2022/10/chart-of-sony-dual-iso-base-levels/ although it's great to know that, but I only apply the dual base ISO when filming in S-Log3 and in my tests, it really works and you get more dynamic range and cleaner images when using 800 or 2500. As for S-Cinetone, it's great to know that another set of dual base ISOs applies but I don't really focus on that because, to my tests, there's barely a noticeable difference in my opinion. Yes, it's just me and I don't know about with other users. As I said above, I judge my shots and exposure from what I see in the LCD and this is for the S-Cinetone in particular if I'm overexposed or not and if I'm getting cleaner images or not, but of course also with the help of tools like zebra, etc. Still, you can use that and experiment and see what works best for you when filming using the dual base ISOs. Sorry for the long answer haha... 😂 I appreciate you watching the video and thank you for your question! 🙏🏽 Cheers!
